(side blog) Thanks for the ID! I had no idea algae could be so orange!
Found the orangest lichen I've ever seen when I was hiking in Niagara the other day!!

That might actually be a colony of Trentepohlia algae, a common constituent of lichen symbiosis but in this case unlichenized. It is a green algae that grows in long, connected filamentous colonies, and the outer cell wall contains carotenoids to protect them from solar radiation. We love to see it.

The way I'm about to blow every spare dime I have towards every single cacti and succulent that makes me happy because they make me so fucking happy and I need that right now, is unreal lol

As much as facebook is a cesspool, turns out the marketplace is actually lowkey useful? Just traded some extra plants and cuttings for 2 fairly large ceramic pots and both of us were thrilled about it :D

blurry, but it handed on my hand for a second! it tickled :3

Trying to convince my little sister that bugs aren't scary so; send me bug pictures / art. (Preferably ones that look cool/pretty/silly or that are on someone that way she knows they won't hurt you- she's 7) and I'll give you worms!

I really need to figure out how to put the shelves up on that other wall but ?? the stud finder doesn't work in this apartment bc I'm pretty sure the wall is hollow with metal studs. I have no idea what to do with that if I want to support a decent amount of weight
do you ever take plants out of quarantine and have no idea where they were before. why do I have so many philodendrons? where on earth did I have them all before they got spider mites? ?? I don't even think I've acquired new plants?
#i have a few toggle bolts but that's going to be a bitch when i move#and i have no idea if itll support the weight of several watered plants in pots#why couldnt that wall have wooden studs or be concrete like the interior walls

top shelf is 84W/30,000 lux, which is fairly bright still, and I had three of them on the lower shelf before and my drosanthemums were still etoliating even though they were literally touching them. I've now replaced it with the equivalent of the fucking sun, it's over 130,000 lux. Those fuckers better appreciate it and start growing more compact lol
