Ensi

Ensi (they/them) is a Skykid who was born in the Hidden Forest, during the Season of Prophecy. They used to be a guide in the Forest, until they suffered a period of dark plant corruption that damaged their body considerably after they had to push themselves to their limit to save a moth from a dark plant-covered nest of crabs that the poor thing had stumbled into. They have noticeably less stamina than before, pretty poor eyesight (nearsighted) and the scars still sting like Eden shards if they are hit by rain. Which is kind of an issue if your job revolves around being in the Forest, running around.. in the rain..

So, after getting the proper treatment and potion prescription, they temporarily moved in with Zia and Mirri, who lived in the Valley of Triumph, to recover. Zia was a musician, and one day they asked Zia to teach them how to play music. They learned surprisingly quickly. Who knew that Ensi’s actual talent was in music, huh? After Zia’s disappearance (later confirmed to be death) and Mirri moving out to go to the Wasteland seeking.. Revenge? Some sort of purpose? They don’t know why, and they really tried to convince Mirri to not go down a path of self-destruction. They really did. But either way, that house in the Village of Dreams became Ensi’s. They became a musician in the Valley, and during this period between Zia’s death and the Season of Performance, they met Adair, who was at the time trying to wrangle a group of particularly energetic moths he had picked up. Ensi, being a former guide themselves, decided to help him get through the Valley a bit more smoothly by joining him for the duration of the realm. They told him about how they were a guide once, a few pointers on how to keep moths by his side, and the two exchanged candles. That’s how Ensi and Adair became friends.

When the Village Theater opened, Ensi joined the Theater Troupe as one of their musicians. At this point in time, they specialized in the bass harp. (And I guess the harp too, but they prefer bass instruments.) Shortly before Kat joined, they shifted fully to being a part of the Troupe. When Kat was introduced to Ensi, initially things were going well, until Ensi mentioned that they used to be a guide. Then things immediately went south and Kat suddenly started hating their guts. Things have been worked out though and she’s friends with them now.

They know how to do woodworking. They made the cello bow they use in performances themselves, actually.

They have intermediate level ability with manipulation of pure light

Ensi doesn’t use the physical strength they have to fight (they were a guide who was flying and running all the time, and now they play an instrument that definitely requires work from the arms. Do not underestimate this skykid) but who needs to fight when you can become the enemy’s therapist somehow like 50% of the time?

random idea

I dunno if this is a concept I will use since I already have Skykids’ abilities with different lights depend on the realm they fall in, but what if some Skykids have special dreams or little quirks depending on the season or Days event they were born in? Like Prophecy and Shattering kids having occasional dreams of Eden and the King. Revival kids having dreams of what happens in The Two Embers. Skykids born near the wisteria tree or the roses in Starlight Desert or in Forgotten Ark on the grass during Days of Bloom having faint petal effects to their magic or vaguely smelling of flowers when they use magic to other Light creatures. I dunno, that kind of thing.

Silly lil lists for all my Sky OCs

I’ve been yapping to @gala-xyzz and decided to add all da lists for my silly lil childrens :D

I’m so normal about them (spoiler alert, I am not)

IMPORTANT THINGY: In my AU, Theo formed a small military faction of Sky kids to scout Wasteland and survey possible threats. Not sure what to call the faction, but ideas are welcome :D

Kace

- 14 years old

- favorite place in Sky is the Assembly treehouse

- stubborn as all hell

- when he wants something, he WILL get it

- knows nothing of social cues

- also petty

- before he deserted, he got into a yelling match with Theo over which Light creature was the cutest

- stole Theo’s tent for the funnies

- he could hear Theo yelling from across the Graveyard and burst out laughing

- misses banter with Theo after deserting

- hates himself for being so petty and spiteful

- that one short friend with an ungodly amount of attitude

- wonders how someone as pure and sweet as Sofii exists

- helps Raylah organize her archive notes when he eventually gets bored of bothering Finn and Theo

- gives Teri constructive criticism on his plays

- surprisingly good at interior decorating, his nest is very pretty

Theo

- 14 years old

- stubborn and intimidating

- hard to read

- well versed in ancient military strategies of Sky

- has a soft spot for Sofii but will never admit it to anyone but her

- Raylah is convinced he’s secretly clumsy, but he’s never tripped over anything in his life

- had a dream that he saw Tsadi and wonders if it was a prophetic dream from the Megabird

- favorite place in Sky is the Graveyard in Wasteland

- also likes Treasure Reef cuz deep ocean excites him

- managed to bring Sofii to see the giant krill in the Reef once, and Raylah insisted it was a kidnapping (according to him, it was not)

- misses his bestie Kace

- he found Kace at the Assembly treehouse once and tried to talk to him, but got pissed and left when Kace gave him the finger

- will call someone on their bs in the most obnoxious way possible

- would low key burn a whole kingdom for Sofii, but he doesn’t mention it to anybody

- extremely agile/athletic

- can easily sneak up on people, uses it to scare Raylah for the funnies

- will do anything to make Sofii laugh

- wore flowers to a faction meeting once that Sofii had put there and was uncharacteristically enthusiastic

- this boi literally showed everyone these flowers and was like “Look, my best friend made me this flower crown”

- he’s a lil dumb when it comes to social cues

- once Kace is in the group, he’ll be a smartass just to spite him

- he and Kace will push each other around a lot

- whenever he sees Kace hanging out with Sofii, he gets the sudden urge to throw him out a window

Teri

- 13 years old

- everyone’s favorite theater boi

- favorite place in Sky is the village theater in Valley

- loves telling stories and performing

- thought Finn was a weird emo dude when he first met him

- will throw hands with anyone who dares hurt his new friends

- always wears a mask because he has a scar on his face from his first trip to Eden

- the scar has Darkness on it, so it looks cool but also scary

- meets with the Valley elders every now and then to debate about the most effective entertainment mediums

- writes his own plays in hopes of having his friends perform in them

- mostly so his OTPs can manifest

- gets along really well with Finn, they sit on a roof in the Village of Dreams and talk about the most out of pocket things you’ll ever hear

- is insecure about his scar

- loves wearing the Mad Hatter hat cuz he’s a flamboyant boi

- thinks Theo is emo too

- Sofii comes by the theater to help him write plays

- will never turn down an offer for food

- theorizes about ancient kingdom things with Raylah

- secretly very sassy

Finn

- 15 years old

- certified smartass

- trolls people for the funnies

- sarcasm is his greatest weapon

- uses his firework staff to bap people when he thinks they’re being dumb

- his definition of dumb is “when you can’t tell your feelings from your true intentions”

- smart boi and will lord it over you every chance he gets

- Theo tried to recruit him for the mini military faction when it first started, but he said no

- spy for King Resh

- Resh manipulated him into thinking he was worthless and only useful for getting information

- low key traumatized cuz of that

- was friends with Resh before he became king/corrupted

- took the trials in the Cave of Prophecies alongside Alef, but failed

- Resh made Finn his advisor when he became king

- was forced to watch Resh become cold and distant once he started harvesting Dark crystals and Light Creatures

- had no friends until Kace brought him to a group hang out

- only started hanging out with Kace and the others in hopes of getting information for Resh

- got attached to them and ended up giving Resh a resignation letter in the form of a middle finger

- became more empathetic after that

- lets Sofii put flowers in his hair

- shows Sofii constellations when she can’t sleep

- kept up the tradition of bringing people into the group by bringing Teri

- favorite place in Sky is the wind paths

Sofii

- 13 years old

- Raylah found her when she fell from the stars

- loves spending time with Raylah and her other friends

- tends to be shy, but will try to include someone who seems lonely

- favorite places in Sky are Prairie Peaks and Sanctuary Islands

- she and Raylah love hanging out in Sanctuary together

- always wears flowers in her hair

- loves putting flowers in her friends’ hair as well

- takes Raylah stargazing whenever she is sad and overworked from looking at ancient Archives in Vault

- loves playing flute and guitar

- loves giving and receiving hugs

- she met Theo when he heard her playing her flute in Prairie

- loves reading books

- would absolutely hit you with a brick if you hurt Raylah in any way

- puts flowers in Theo’s hair (he will deny that he enjoys it, but she knows he does)

- braided Theo’s hair ONCE and now Raylah will never let it go

- short child with high energy

- scares easily, which Finn and Theo take advantage of pretty often

Raylah

- 15 years old

- household perfectionist

- the mom of the group

- can and will hit you with a shovel if you don’t take care of yourself

- “DID YOU HYDRATE? Damn it, Kace this is why Finn calls you dumb”

- salty in the most chaotic way possible

- likes playing pranks on Theo with Sofii

- scary mom friend

- would drop a building on someone to protect Sofii cuz they’re super close, basically sisters

- if someone touches her stuff, you can bet there’ll be consequences

- move anything even an inch and she will notice

- senses are dialed up to 11 when she’s studying archives in Vault

- enjoys learning about the ancient history of Sky

- cannot play any instruments, but she enjoys hearing Sofii play her flute

- her favorite places in Sky are Starlight Desert and Sanctuary Islands

- also likes ice skating

- will deny it if you ask about the time she tripped and fell on her face while ice skating

Forgotten Memories ~ Neptune and Pattern

Forgotten Memories will be a (hopefully) short series about stuff that happened in the Connection AU before my Narrator showed up to poke around and tell stories, mostly focused on these two and a couple of others. (It's also know as "doing anything but writing my main story")

Pattern (green petal cape): she/her, fell in Season of Dreams. She's a bit of a wildcard all of the time, she loves causing a bit of chaos and making people laugh. She is fairly agile but a pretty clumsy flier. She is an Outsider (and this was all before Outsiders got the bad reputation, so she didn't hide it) and she had her book out a lot to write everything down. She is also a part of the Beta Kids, a secret (ish, a lot less secret back then than it is when the rest of my characters are around) and exclusive group run by a team who call themselves the Devs (who aren't sky kids btw, something closer to a deity). They help make sure the realms don't fall apart. I'll probably (hopefully) explain the devs and the beta kids better later.

Neptune (blue cape and ice cream hair): she/her or they/them, fell in Season of Prophecy. She is very dramatic and loves to be the center of attention. She loves theatre and performing, and came up with several scripts to wrangle her and Pattern's friends into acting out. She is also an Outsider, but mostly used Light Paper to record her scripts so their friends could read it. She used her book to keep track of ideas and drafts. She is also a part of the Beta Kids.

(Neptune does not know about the flower stuck in her hair Pattern put it there without her knowing :D)

Days of Bloom - Cherry Blossom

Cherry blossoms are associated with kindness, gentleness, and the acceptance of transience and imperfection. It is the same qualities present in this skykid that allow her to give healing to so many.

Skykid Culture - Skykid lingo!

Disclaimer: this is for the sky au I’m building for my characters. Most of these are terms that have been floating around ingame that I put in with some original ones. If you want an actual reference for game terminology, check out this page on the Sky Wiki.

See? I told you I had worldbuilding stuff coming. This has actually been sitting in my back pocket for a while, so I decided to break the silence.

Ancestor - interchangeable with Spirit, or ancestor spirit, describes the Kingdom’s original inhabitants

(the) Ark - short for Forgotten Ark, casual

(the) Aviary - short for Aviary Village, casual

Bird Statue - term for one variant of a Home shrine.

Butterfly - a young skykid, no longer a moth but not in the “teenager” phase, named as such because the next progression in appearance from the moth look is usually one of the capes from the realm spirits

Call/Honk/Chirp - the sound skykids can make that isn’t normal spoken language.

Caterpillar - word for newly landed skykids without a cape.

Candle Hunting/Candle Running/Wax Hunting - the practice of going through a realm to collect all the light in order to craft candles.

Wedges/Wings/Flaps/Cape Stars - the amount of stars that a Skykid has on their cape.

Chibi - slang for a skykid who is very short and/or wearing the Hide n’ Seek Pioneer’s mask. Origin of this term is unknown.

Closet - the places where a skykid can change their outfit and hairstyle, magical or otherwise.

Constellation - the star pattern for each Realm, can be accessed from a Constellation Table.

Friend Constellation: a skykid-only star pattern. Not an actual star pattern in the sky, just a made up one. Used by groups of friends or groups like the Theater Troupe to display members.

Constellation Table - one of the big slabs in the ground in Aviary, Home, or Orbit that allows you to view Constellations (both kinds.)

Daily Quest - The daily tasks you can get from the Home Shrine or spirits at the Aviary Cafe.

Dawn - very old slang for Isle of Dawn. Used by really old skykids (Pre-Gratitude to maybe Lightseekers) or people who want to be pretentious.

Day - very old slang for Daylight Prairie. Same usage as Dawn

Deep Call/Big Honk - yelling using the non-language Skykid noise.

Descendant - very old term for skykids. Used by Elders, some Spirits (ex. Prophecy spirits & other religious folk) and very old or pretentious skykids (same crowd as the word Dawn)

Dusk - very old slang for Golden Wasteland. Same usage as Dawn

Eden Cycle - another word for week.

Expression/emotion - the gestures skykids learn from spirits.

Faerie Ring - a ring of mushrooms that sometimes appears in the Village Islands.

Ikejou - term for conventionally attractive feminine presenting skykid. 

Ikemen - ditto to Ikejou, but masculine instead 

Jelly - short for Jellyfish

Kreb - funny way of saying Crab

Krill - Everyday term for Dark Dragon

Library - uncommon informal term for the Vault of Knowledge.

Manna - Another old term for Golden Wasteland. Part of its original name, Golden Shores of Manna. Used by some normal Spirits and pretentious skykids.

Moth/Sparrow - term for new skykids who have a cape

Night - an old term for the Vault of Knowledge. Same usage as Dawn

Point of No Return/the Eye/Stormlock - word for the part of Eden where you’re supposed to die

Rain - an old term for the Hidden Forest. Same usage as Dawn 

Realm Spirit - word equivalent to saying “base game spirit” in-game.

Recorded Memory - word for Shared Memories.

Season - a period of time that lasts 12 Eden cycles, or 3 months. Also refers to the event where a new group of Spirits appears and all attention is focused on helping them after being freed, which takes roughly 3 months 

Season Pendant - a special neck accessory awarded for helping the new spirits of a specific Season a lot.

Shores of Manna - same usage as Manna or Dusk, “Golden” part of name omitted because of the Realm’s ruined state

Shrine - can refer to a spot where offerings are made or something like a Home Shrine where you tap into the surrounding light to do something through meditation.

Small Mask - the Hide n’ Seek Pioneer’s mask, which shrinks skykids when worn. 

Social Space - the gathering spot at the beginning of a Realm.

(the) Storm - most skykids just say Eden or the Eye of Eden, but spirits and the same types who use Dawn for Isle use this word.

Sunset - Name for Valley of Triumph, same usage as Dawn

Tower - a very rarely used name for the Vault of Knowledge

Veteran - an uncommon term for an older skykid with 11-12 wedges. 

Wax/Light (in context of candles) - the material used to forge candles.

Wing Blessing - word for the winged light Spirits offer to Skykids when they give them Ascended Candles. Aka wing buff in game terminology.

Owl hair - the Rhythm Guide’s hair. Came about after a spirit compared their hair to an owl. …whatever that is.

Penguin hair - the Performance Guide’s hair. Since the Rhythm Guide’s hair got a nickname, people thought, “why not their twin too?”
