For those who do not have Twitter, Bob Schooley posted a Kim Possible series bible on there today. This contains material on the basic outline for the series. This was made about two years before the first episode was aired. There is so many amazing things in here that ended up being changed or did not happen or appear in the show entirely. A must look for any hardcore KP Fan!

This is very interesting and I never knew they did this. It’s a good technique for the possible future, definitely considering I normally do stop motion animation anyway. I won’t be doing this technique for this project though as i have no vehicles in my film.

In order to save costs, the 101 Dalmatians production team thought up an inventive way to animate the vehicles seen in the movie. Instead of drawing the vehicle frame by frame the conventional way, a cardboard model was filmed, as effects animators moved it around in front of the camera. Note the black lines that define all edges.
Frames from this live-action footage were xeroxed on to cels before being painted in the ink & paint apartment. The same process was used later on for Edgar’s motorcycle in The Aristocats.

Song of the Sea
Song of the sea is an Irish animated feature length film by Tomm Moore. It is all 2D animated and was created by Cartoon Saloon in 2014. It is a very pretty film and has a unique flat art style.
When I watched this film for the first time, the art style struck a cord with me. It was visually interesting and uses a lot of patterns and symbols within the design. The layout of the film lacks perspective, which is caused by its flat art style. This gives the film a pleasant quirkiness and adds to the mystical feeling and fantasy theme of it. I’ve been look at they’re layouts and backgrounds lately, while considering my own backgrounds for my film. So far I’ve been trying to put as much perspective as I can into my drawings but I have been struggling with this when it comes to interior backgrounds. I may have a couple experiments with a more flat style and see if it works along side my other backgrounds. I f i do this will be one of my main influences.
It wasn’t just the art style that caught my attention for this film, it was also the story. It was nice having an unfamiliar story, which was full different folklore and stories. This film is quite emotional but does have up lifting moments.

Below is a trailer for the next thing Cartoon Saloon is working on. It looks very interesting and I’m looking forward to seeing it once it’s done.
