"She can, but it's not exactly wise to allow the rest of the town to hear your slurs, is it? No one's going to hire someone when that is the language and attitude they'll receive for doing so," Kate shrugged. "It's a tight town, the last thing you need is a set bias against you."
Mona’s head jerked up in surprise at the light scolding, and she rolled her eyes in response, a cool, lackadaisical smile fixed on her features. “Can’t a girl quit her shitty, abusive job without maternal judgment?”

"You know what I meant," Kate rolled her eyes at her best friend. "God sake, Jackson," Kate grumbled as she took the bill reluctantly, if she had argued against it they would be there forever trying to out-argue the other. "For the record, I baked far too many cupcakes last night so I've been offering them FOR FREE to every paying customer. Besides, I think I'm within my rights and entitled to give you something nice on occasion."

“Out of that stage and into the parties and underage drinking stage – yes, I’m glad too.” The male mused sarcastically, somewhat amused as he settled into a counter seat. “Don’t mind if I do, though I’m no charity case, Kate. Take it and don’t even think about arguing the point..” He warned, sliding a bill across toward her.

Kate just stared at the young woman as her brain tried to process the words that the other had spoken. If Hazel had been the one to say that then the cafe owner was sure that her own heart would stop. "--- Not the kind of language you should be using in a public space," she couldn't help but reply.

“Yeah? Well tough fucking cookies, buddy — because I don’t fucking care about your ugly ass, cunty ass china.” Mona stomped out and furiously took off her red uniform shirt, revealing a white camisole underneath as she tossed her Target employee name tag in the bin near the bench located near the bus stop. The loud clatter is followed by a slight shuffle as she whips out her phone from her pocket, and feels a stare — a justifiable one, probably. Nonetheless, she eyes the figure and spits out, “Need something?”

"I think I've lost track of the amount of times the kids have tried to scare me this month. Then again, little David from three doors down tried to get in on the festivities back in SEPTEMBER. It's nice and all, but I'm beyond glad that my kid is out of that stage. I hope, anyway..." Kate chatted away as she took a break from behind the counter. "Spiderweb cupcake?" she held them out to the person she had been talking to. "Free of charge, of course."

"Is everything okay?" Kate asked as she accidentally overheard the female speak. "Don't let the town intimidate you," she then chuckled as she looked around as if trying to guess what the brunette was looking at. "It may be scary during October, but it has a lot of heart. Are you new or returning?"
The raven-haired woman stood next to her car as she looked around her. It had been how long since she stepped foot in this town? When she first left, she had vowed to herself that it would be best to never to return - yet, here she was. Memories flooded her the moment she arrived and hadn’t been doing anything but reminisce at everything she came across here. “There’s no place like home..” A bitter tone laced the quote as she muttered it to herself.

"Oh God, don't remind me. That's literally the worst thing about Halloween. Clowns are terrifying on their own, but killer clowns? I think I would die."
Tumblr media
“Honestly — I think I could go another year without seeing another ‘killer clown’ turn up on my doorstep looking for candy. Whatever happened to the innocence of trick-or-treating?”

Kate had been on her way home after locking up the cafe when the sight of blood and a bruised male caught her attention. She frowned softly at the question and shook her head as she approached. "Sorry, no. I don't smoke. -- Are you okay? What happened?"
Kit wiped at his bruised and bleeding face as he stomped away from the bar he had just been kicked out of. It was stupid really – it’s not like he was even trying to get alcohol or start anything, ever heard of supporting local music? Why did people have to say stupid stuff? Why did dumb people have to punch him with their dumb fists to get their dumb point across? It was whatever, he’d just walk around ‘til he was over it or go home. Whatever. Kit dug his cigarettes out of his jacket pocket and reached for his lighter – only to discover it wasn’t there. Fuck. He must’ve dropped it at the bar. “Uh hey – any chance you’d have a light on you?” He called out to a passing stranger.
