I'm sure someone has mentioned this already, but I love this moment so much for different reasons:

Even though Grace is holding onto Ethan, his eyes are on Benji.

He doesn't stop staring at him the entire scene - Ethan doesn't take his eyes off Benji, Benji doesn't take his eyes off Ethan. They can't look away from each other!

If that's not love and a "hold onto the very last look" moment, I don't know what is!

The way the last scene with Ethan and Benji in The Final Reckoning feels like a callback to the scene between Ethan and Julia in Ghost Protocol... only this time Ethan actually follows in the same direction instead of the two going their separate ways...

For the MI fans who are anything like me in the way that they relate any song to their favourite fandom/character, this thought just struck me:

"The Smallest Man Who Ever Lived" is Ethan's thoughts during and after MI:1, when Phelps betrays him and his team.

Well MI:1 is fantastic. Ethan cocky and comfortable with his found family and when that is ripped away he rapidly becomes unhinged. Lucky he found Luther to give him someone to lean on. Can see why he spent the rest of the franchise trying to rebuild that found family feeling, to heal and recreate what he had before Prague and also frantically and desperately trying to protect anyone with even a tangential connection to him (look how quickly he becomes focused on saving Grace)

I also wonder if he thinks perhaps he, too, should have died in Prague, that perhaps they could have been saved if he had, and that is why he’s so reckless with his own life.

He’s obviously close to Jack and I have to wonder - did Benji ever remind him of Jack? Did he listen to Benji giving the technical details and think of Jack?

Or worse - did he listen to Benji over the comms and worry he’d hear Benji’s death over comms, like with Jack? No wonder he constantly says ‘talk to me Benji’. It’s not just asking for instructions. He’s constantly asking ‘are you still alive, are you there, are you safe?’

Hey Top Gun fandom, so...do you wanna hear something devasting that came to my mind?

I was listening to "Who Lives, Who Dies, Who Tells Your Story" and getting emotional - as one does -, when I thought realized how much it can connect to Top Gun and Icemav.

Following Ice's death and the mission, Mav decides to stop wasting time on tears and start telling his husband's legacy, but it's not enough.

He tries to make sense of Ice's thousand of pages of writings, but his husband really did write like he was running out of time. Maverick relies on Slider and when he needs him most, he's right on time.

Maverick doesn't believe in any god, but if there is one, in his kindness, he gives him what Ice always wanted: he gives him more time.

Mav stays at Top Gun, teaching, but Ice could have done so much more if he only had time. And the fear that haunts him is what when his time is up, has he done enough, will they tell Ice's story?

But that's not what Maverick's the proudest off. He establishes an oprhange in his husband's honor, so that no child will have to experience the hell that Mav himself experienced, going through the foster care system.

He helps raise hundreds of children, getting to see them growing up, and in their eyes, Maverick sees Ice. Every time.

Oh, he can't wait to see him again.

It's only a matter of time.

Bradley doesn't find out Maverick pulled his papers until the summer of 2001 and the fallout is horrible. 

The flyboys take Bradley’s side, because of course they do — that’s their Baby Goose! Slider and Ice, Mav’s partners for over a decade, leave him. They don't mean to, but Ice’s help in pulling the papers gets him and Slider booted from Bradley’s life too and that destroys them, piece by piece and… well, Slider loved Ice first. Slider ends up siding with Ice, but it’s a terrible situation all around.

No one is happy and everyone is broken. 

So, Maverick finally resolves himself to do something about it.

He packs a bag while he's on leave, marches to the airport and buys a ticket to LA. Bradley is studying at CAU, still desperate to become a pilot. Mav, Ice and Slider have been living in DC as Ice climbs the ranks. 

He thinks nothing of it as he boards a flight with double numbers, because the skies are clear that September morning. 

It’s good flying weather and he's going to finally see his boy again. 

But that’s not the Bradshaw he ends up running into. 😭

I was listening to "Burn" from Hamilton and listen...I know Ice would never, ever, but part of me wants to write a fic based on "Burn" and THAT whole section of Hamilton based on if he did cheat on Mav.
