“Make it strong, m’kay?.” Katherina stated as she started towards the individual sat at the bar. It was strange seeing The Gamble so... empty. The blonde had of course heard of everything going on with SHOT; and she figured a place like this would get targeted. But she’d hoped things wouldn’t take effect so quickly. Moving to take a seat at an empty barstool, she let out a heavy sigh. “Sucks, don’t it?” But then again, she wasn’t powered (or at least that she knew of); she just happened to know and befriend a lot of individuals who were. And all of this, it wasn’t fair. Seemingly blaming all powered folk for the wrongdoings of a few.

It was strange, Gray thought as he sat the bar counter. With the start of SHOT’s movements into the city, Gray had gotten wind of their raids against places that welcomed powered people. He knew that The Gamble would be hit with that soon;  the place was advertised as the best watering hole for those with powers that needed a place to feel welcomed at. Unfortunately, that inclusiveness had hit the red flags up all the way across and put them on SHOT’s radar. The top floor had been cleared through, but the basement level was on its way to clear out. He needed to buy them time. He poured himself out a glass of whiskey, toasted to The Gamble and took the drink down.

“It’s last call at The Gamble,” Gray said as he set this empty glass down. He turned himself from the bar stool to face them. He gave them a smirk, “No bartenders on duty today, but I’ll one out for you.”

sky looked over to the woman.  there was a momentary flash of surprise in his eye but he was trained to keep himself calm.  “that’s something you could have read about from the ceres world,” sky replied with a smile.  the ceres world, or any article or blogger online, had written about the crucifixtion of the red ranger;  the beating had been bloody and sky barely survived it.  it ended with sky being sent overseas for surgeries for things he couldn’t even remember.  he smiled at her and then nodded at her friend, “you should …get back to your date, i guess.”

“I like to read only what I think applies to me. So obviously I missed the article about your eye... Though now I should probably go try and find it; since it’s clear you’re not gonna tell me what happened.” Katherina stated, already digging her phone out of her pocket. She honestly didn’t care that much about the other’s eye—or lack thereof—but focusing on him allowed her to temporarily forget the nuisance who was seated across from her. She stopped upon hearing his words, turning her attention from her phone to him. “Cute you think he’s my date... It’s just a shitty business meeting. Besides, he’s not my type.” She then glanced around for a second before spotting a cute waitress tending to a table across the room. “But her, on the other hand...”

It had been many years since he was last called by his actual name. In fact, it had been so long he had almost forgotten about it. Miles Dennen. That was the name they had chosen for him at the orphanage. He liked to think it held significance for the fact that he still had miles to go in life. Now it held nothing but a ghost. He can somewhat recognize the bratty little girl she used to be (though he knew, maybe she still was). “I think you’ve got the wrong person.” Whatever she wanted, he was ready to run if anything. “Sorry for the confusion. Didn’t mean to disappoint.” 

“I don’t need night vision to know it’s you, Miles.” Katherina took a step closer, only mildly closing the distance between them. “You sound almost the same as last we spoke; only your voice is a little deeper. Besides, my apartment’s right across the street; so I’ve seen you in daylight too. I’d recognize that awful nose of yours anywhere.” She teased, figuring if he was gonna deny his identity, she’d just be a bitch to him until he manned up and admitted who he was. “But what do you know...” She began, taking several more steps in his direction, his features coming more into vision now. “Guess the fates have a way of keeping me part of your miserable existence. Shame, isn’t it?”

there was something unsettling about the way the city had changed.  sky hadn’t even gotten to settle down before the city evolved in some god awful way;  monsters, kidnappings, experiments and yet somehow, the city still stood.  sky’s mind had been running a million miles an hour and then at the sound of someone’s voice, he was pulled out his thoughts.  the ranger looked over to the woman who called out to him and asked in surprise, “something interesting?”  he made a face as he said the first thing that came to mind:  “well, the monster sightings have doubled in the last month?”

Monster sightings weren’t really what Katherina would considering interesting, at least not anymore. When the monsters first showed up in Ceres Centropolis, the blonde would’ve found them to be quite the interesting topic to discuss. But now, they were old news. She wanted something new. Turning her full attention to the individual who had responded to her prior comment, she noticed something very interesting about him; and she couldn’t help herself from momentarily staring. “Monster sightings? And here I thought you were gonna tell me the tale of how you became a discount cyclops...”

“I’m starting to lose my patience here; so if you have a proposition for me, you better start talking...” Katherina was so done with the individual across the table from her that she didn’t even bother with making eye contact anymore. And when they finally started speaking, she was honestly only half listening. So when someone walked by, she quickly turned her attention to them. “You!” She called out, getting their attention before continuing on, annoyance clear in her words following words. “Please tell me you have something more interesting to say than my friend here.”

Katherina was one of those people who could function on little sleep; and it worked out because she was also one of those people who never stopped going. She had a tendency to stay up all night just to finish a book or a puzzle; and then instead of being dead tired in the morning, she’d just go about her day running on nothing more than a cup of coffee. She’d been like that for as long as she could remember. But tonight, she wasn’t working to finish a book or a puzzle. Instead, she was just enjoying the beauty of the stars... Or at least that was her plan until she realized there was someone else on the rooftop. "You know I’ve never been one to sleep well, Miles.” She recognized his voice anywhere, even after all this time. Even in the darkness, she didn’t need to see his features to confirm it was him, mainly due to the fact she’d been watching him and knew this was the roof to his building (which just so happened to be conveniently across the street from hers). 

After what felt like an eternity of tossing and turning in bed, Kai decided to go up the rooftop of the apartment building. Anyone who would have known him could clearly see how tired he was from the bags under his eyes, yet here he was, walking around like nothing in the cold night. There was a figure in the distance. He couldn’t make out exactly who or what it was, but he was on guard for whatever they had up their sleeve. The brunette approached them quietly, carefully. “Can’t sleep?” He called out, stopping at a halfway between the exit and the edge of the building.

Well it’s me (Cat), back with a 3rd character because I have no self control... I’d like y’all to meet Katherina Jones, daughter of Athena. I’m still figuring her out; so there will definitely be more added to this when I think it up; but please enjoy what I have for now. Like always, more under the read more. (Also note: I’ve never played a Caity Lotz FC before; so please be patient with me while I search gif hunts and get used to the gifs I’ll be using.)

KATHERINA JONES, who strongly resembles CAITY LOTZ, has made Ceres Centropolis their home. They are a 26 year old DEMIGODDESS/DAUGHTER OF ATHENA and have been in the city for FOUR YEARS. They have been known have ENHANCED HEALING, AGILITY, AND RESILIENCE. They are known to be + WISE & + COURAGEOUS and - OVERBEARING & - ARROGANT. If you’re lucky, you may catch them working at GREY’S GAMBLE as a MERCENARY.

BACKSTORY

(triggers: death, suicide)

She was born to a man named Patrick Jones and a woman named Athena. Her mother died during childbirth (*cough*lies*cough*); so she was raised by her father up until he committed suicide when she was just a toddler.

At the tender age of 2, she found herself being sent off to an orphanage, along with a box of belongings her father had put together for her to open once she was deemed old enough.

In the orphanage, she felt worthless and like she didn’t quite belong; so she turned to bullying the other children as a way to cope (especially this boy named Miles). Making herself superior to the others made her feel like she was actually worth something.

Then there was something else that made her feel like she didn’t quite belong; but then again, it made her feel superior too. By the age of 8, she’d come to notice she had a tendency to heal faster than the other children. And she also seemed to be more resilient.

It was also at the age of 8 she was deemed old enough to view the contents of the box left to her by her father. There wasn’t much inside: an apology letter, a list, two photos, a baby blanket, a book, and a stuffed owl.

At the age of 15, she was finally adopted.

She got a full ride to Harvard University and attended there as a dual applied mathematics and philosophy major for her undergraduate studies.

Upon graduation, she opted to move away from her adoptive family’s home and move to Ceres Centropolis where she currently resides and works as a mercenary at Grey’s Gamble. 

When it comes to her birth mother, she only knows the woman’s name and that she was apparently Greek. And since ‘Athena’ isn’t a super uncommon name, she never thought anything of it... Until recently.

She’s starting trying to find out more about both her birth parents (but mostly her mother, as she at least had something from her father to start with); so who knows what she’ll discover...

FUN FACTS

While she mostly only answers to Katherina, she will sometimes answer to Kat, Kate, Katie, or even Kit. Don’t call her Kitty unless you wanna get punched in the face.

She is fluent in both English and Greek.

She’s highly skilled at mathematics and has even been considered by some to be a math prodigy. 

She’s a trained martial artists and is a black belt in both karate and taekwondo. 

One of the items in the box from her father was a list of '10 Things to Accomplish Before Turning 18′. She accomplished all but one.

WANTED CONNECTIONS

Adoptive Family Members — I would love to have some of her adoptive family members, ideally parents or siblings; but even adoptive aunts, uncles, and cousins. I think working out the dynamics between them could be pretty fun.

Older Half Sister — Another daughter of Athena, perhaps? Maybe she knows the truth about their mother and is waiting for the right time to reveal it, maybe she doesn’t. But regardless, somehow she and Katherina have crossed paths. And even though they don’t know they’re sisters just yet, they’ve become friends.

And Then There Is All The General Plots/Connections… — Friends, Enemies, Neighbors, Colleagues, etc.
