I'm scared. I'm scared that if I saw you again, I'd be really happy.. That this happiness may cause me to expect and get disapointed again and again. That's not cool.

To love at all is to be vulnerable. Love anything and your heart will be wrung and possibly broken. If you want to make sure of keeping it intact you must give it to no one, not even an animal. Wrap it carefully round with hobbies and little luxuries; avoid all entanglements. Lock it up safe in the casket or coffin of your selfishness. But in that casket, safe, dark, motionless, airless, it will change. It will not be broken; it will become unbreakable, impenetrable, irredeemable. To love is to be vulnerable. C. S. Lewis

One day, your heart will learn to fly again, and you will see such beautiful things. I hope you have the patience to wait for that day, to know that the lonely hours are not spent in vain, but that you are just slowly gaining the strength and courage to use your wings again.

How beautiful it is to find someone who not only accepts who I am, but celebrates the things that have made me who I am. We find joy in being seen, to be known is what our hearts long for. How wonderful, to have someone who knows us, and extends the hand of promise and future growth. That is fuel for our souls, when someone makes the effort to love you for you.

James 5:16 (NIV) Therefore confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective.

You always have the girls everyone thought of beautiful, smart, pretty, had it all there. I wasn’t one of them. I was beautiful, but not in my looks but in my words. I knew how to piece together broken things and make them okay again. I wasn’t smart in the traditional way, but I did know a lot about my passions. I knew what I wanted and I was smart in the way that I wasn’t not naive enough to know that the world was not kind. So I chose to be, I chose to be the flower growing out of the sidewalk of the world when everything else was bleeding and dirty. I was pretty, but not in my looks, I was pretty in how when you looked into my eyes you saw what I endured. You saw the valleys I had walked through and wondered how I still smiled. I was pretty in the way that my smile spoke of the pain in my heart, but that pain was not my ruler. I had created my own hilltop and resided there in freedom. I was the girl with her own pieces scattered, but dedicated herself to piecing others back together. I didn’t have it all there. But I knew how to be messy, and broken, and I knew how to love people in the midst of it. And sometimes all that was saying, “its okay and I will listen. I love you.” Sometimes simplicity is the best way to sort through the mess.
I wasn’t the girl next door, but I did my best to take care of people, which was what I couldn’t take care of in myself. (via jesusiswhatthisworldneeds)

Isaiah 26:3 is true. When you trust God to be good and do good, you don’t have to fear. When you know His love has already worked out your future, you can face the struggles with peace. This all begins with learning His character, which is revealed most clearly in the Word. I can attest to a definite correlation in my hopefulness and the amount of time I spend reading His words to us. When I see how flawless His track record is, it helps me trust Him.

Did you know that there are tornados in space? They suck up a bunch of matter, toss it around, and spit it out to fend for itself… that’s how stars are born. Sometimes we make stupid choices and we do idiotic things. It’s a fact of life. We heave ourselves into the storm and cry “God, why have you forsaken me?” when we’ve simply forsaken ourselves. However, sometimes we are thrown into the tornados. We get jostled and swirled around, and then we’re spit out and left to our own devices. That tornado can either make or break us… and we get to decide whether we choose the light of the stars or the darkness of the storm. We get to choose our own paths. I have traveled that darkness before. I clutched my broken heart, and I snapped and snarled my way through the world with no regards to anyone else. Anger simmered off of me - if you stood too close you’d get burned. Then, when someone finally risked the heat, my beaten down path turned to the road less travelled. I started walking that path of righteousness (well, trying to, anyway) and then I found true freedom. What was done in the dark was brought to the light. Freedom doesn’t look like chains of agony wrapped around your neck - freedom looks like those chains snapped in half right beside you. Whatever path life has thrust upon you, you can choose the one you want to follow. Whether you choose to be swallowed up by the dark, or shine too brightly for the darkness to touch, the choice is yours. Be stars, my friends. Let your lights shine.

It takes all sorts to make a world; or a church. This may be even truer of a church; if grace perfects nature it must expand all our natures into the full richness of the diversity which God intended when He made them, and Heaven will display far more variety than Hell. ‘One fold’ doesn’t mean ‘one pool’. Cultivated roses and daffodils are no more alike than wild roses and daffodils.
