An examination of the Interview with the Vampire canon by a group of multishippers who never quite recovered from their Homestuck days

Celine looks near tears.

“He needs to look messier. Like he got gangbanged after hair and makeup,” Sam interrupts helpfully.

Everyone looks up at that: Daniel from his recline on the chaise, eyebrows raising from behind the latest Rolling Stone; Armand, from his kneel next to the chaise, definitely a violation, but Louis is distracted. Lestat licks his lips, looking at Louis. Celine blushes.

“Thanks, Sam. Celine, I think you’ve done all you can, here. You two take off.” Louis’ voice is low. Maitre, Daddy.

Sam is gone before Louis is done speaking — very in character. Celine fumbles with her kit, sends a few tubes of lip gloss rolling onto the carpet. “That’s fine, honey, you can leave that stuff here. We’ll see you later.” Daniel calls unsubtly from the chaise. He’s sat up, now, a hand resting on Armand’s hair. The girl scurries out of the room.

IM CHIPPIN AWAY i have the dual struggles of a) vampire fanfiction is absolutely falling out of my ass and i cant make it stop and b) i made the s4 fic i want to write really hard for myself for no reason lmao, ill give u another snip though i swear to god this thing will happen its important to me

“It's okay,” Dave says. And when Klaus raises an eyebrow, “Really. I wasn't scared.”

“Bullshit.”

“I was scared my whole life, Klaus,” Dave says. “And then the fear cashed in, and I laid there and thought, that was it. Nothing else can happen to me. If I don't have to be scared anymore, what am I supposed to do?”

“What'd you decide?"

“Nothing. I died too fast.”

“There's worse notes to go out on than an existential crisis,” Klaus says. “Pretty sure I died trying to remember the last time I took a shit, once. Opiates, you know how it is.”

“I thought about you,” Dave says. “Not the whole time, but, you know, Cult Guy called it. Apart from the hill.”

“That was my name in your head, really? I thought it was Mamie Pink.”

“The paint did not end up being the most memorable encounter we had, I'm sorry to say.”

can you give us a hint of your upcoming Klave fic pls? (I’ve missed your work so much i am so excited to read it)

“I mean,” Dave says, “I've been dead for - shit, this takes math, now. A decade, from your angle? But other than that.”

Klaus hums, bumps his cheek into Dave’s jaw. “Don't feel dead to me.”

“That’ll be your ghost thing. Or lack of oxygen. Or both. Is this a dog coffin?”

“No clue. I didn’t think they made dogs this big.”

“I've seen some really big dogs.”

“Like,” Klaus shoves his face into the curve of Dave's neck, “what're they called, Mastiffs? You could fit a Mastiff in here.”

Dave kisses the crown of Klaus's head. His hair is short again, utilitarian. Just as soft as Dave remembers, and just as full of dirt. Klaus used to rub it around and call it dry shampoo, which made Dave laugh, because if there's any word to describe a month of caked-in jungle dirt, it isn't dry.

“Feelin’ kinda stiff, ma-self,” Klaus says. “Is that anything?”

“We're not having sex in the dog coffin, Klaus.”

“Booooo.”

i don’t usually editorialize about fic when i post it, but: i wanted to see if i could capture the feeling of someone’s memories returning to them all at once, sort of experiencing an entire story removed from the linear way it happened. idk if i pulled it off but it was really fun to try!! mostly this is my ted talk about how everybody should reinvent twine in as many places as possible

overall i really enjoyed it, there was so much to like imo!! and keeping it spoiler-free, all of my issues pretty much boil down to 'it was paced weird' or 'they needed four more episodes and/or more money and/or to reallocate puking scene time for lore' lmao, the last two episodes in particular had a lot of characters standing in circles explaining things to each other that i think would have been more effective to watch them discover together over the course of an hour. if they all could have come to the last episode's conclusion as a group throughout the season instead of [redacted] going on an eleventh hour info fetch quest, i think the ending could have been really cathartic and lovely. but i'm picking up what i think they were trying to put down haha, it's maybe not how i would have done it but i also wouldn't have done s2 and s3 the way they did them and i love those seasons in retrospect, so, shrug emoji

also in the wise words of prolific ao3 author and dear beloved friend shadowscast, infinite timelines mean everything is canon, everybody open ur google docs

i'm not going to be able to watch until tomorrow evening so no spoilers but i just want everyone to know that even though it's been a year and a half i take my vows very seriously. no matter what happens in this season i am still going to open a google doc afterwards and put kissing in it. if there is no kissing i will insert it, and if there is kissing i will add more

thoughts on S4 having 6 eps? im doubting they'll be able to wrap up EVERYONES shit. especially if they time skip =[

god yeah on the one hand the fact that we’re getting a fourth season at all is a testament to how good the show is, and i 100% trust them to make something really lovely within their constraints, but on the other hand man the streaming era has gotten bleak lmao

in any case it’s gonna have to be an airtight story and i know what u gays are here for so this is me renewing my sacred vow that if they can’t give us a canon klave version i will write one!! and everybody else should too >:3
