Location: Athens, Greece
Cost: The Residency cost is €1500 for one month, €1350/ mo. for two or three consecutive months and €1200/mo. for four months up until one year of residency. The Residency cost includes housing as well as 24 hour access to the studio building.
We don’t provide any fellowships or stipends through the Residency itself, but we are committed to helping artists secure funding through outside organizations, providing guidance on grants and stipend opportunities as well as issuing formal letters of acceptance to aid in the application process.
Application Fee: No application fee
Number of Artists: Up to 14 artists at a time
Accommodations: We provide shared housing with other residency artists around the Athens metropolitan area. The residency also provides the artists with a dedicated studio space in a repurposed commercial building. The studio boasts abundant natural light, and includes such amenities as a communal workspace/ woodshop, storage for works in progress, a kitchenette and lounge, keypad access and a security guard in the evenings, as well as a studio manager to provide assistance five days per week.
At this point in time we also have the unique opportunity to offer artists in residence the use of two other floors of the studio building, which have yet to be renovated, for the sole purpose of curating a pop up exhibition, installation or performance.

Length of Stay: One month up until one year
Demographic & Medium: We are looking for established or emerging artists with a serious studio practice, who are interested in spending a month or more in Athens, connecting with international artists and art professionals and contributing to a vibrant cultural community.
We have 14 semi-private studios, and we are equipped to accommodate painters, draftsman and installation artists. We have a basic community wood shop and a storage room for wet paintings. Our studios are equipped with WIFI, and we can welcome sound and video artists who work primarily on their laptops. We do not have a darkroom or a printing press, but we have hand rubbing tools and a pin roller, and we can offer studio space for photographers. We are looking forward to expanding to other floors in the building in the future, creating more space for printmaking and sculpture facilities. In the interim we have the unique ability to be able to offer the raw space as exhibition and installation opportunities for the artists in residence.

Benefits: Integrally, professional development opportunities abound throughout the residency program. It is our mission to allow for the exchange of ideas and to provide for the opportunity to form lasting professional relationships with international colleagues. Athena Standards’ in-house art historian and curator, Elizabeth Plessa, will be visiting the studios of the resident artists regularly to discuss the progress of their work.
Additionally, a series of visiting artist talks of various practitioners of the cultural industry have been organized so that by the end of their stay in Athens the ASR residents will have experienced a comprehensive consultancy regarding their practice. The residency program concludes with an open studio event in which members of the artistic community are invited to tour the studios and see the final works.

Mission: Athena Standards Residency was born of the idea that the city of Athens offers an unparalleled opportunity to experience simultaneously the vibrant urban culture of a contemporary city and the rich history of an ancient cosmopolitan center.
documenta 14 put the city of Athens on the map of the contemporary art scene, and as a result there has been an influx of art practitioners to Athens. The city continues to be an artistic hub, welcoming people from all over the world, who have found new ground to express their ideas.
Athens Standards Residency was initiated in 2017 in response to the need for dedicated space and community, in order to carry forth in the vein of cultural production and exchange. With the intention of creating a network of international and local artists, the residency program aims to encourage a dialogue with the local art scene.
The residency program provides the artists with a dedicated studio space in a repurposed commercial building, located in a bustling neighborhood of coffee shops, bars and restaurants and conveniently situated next to the Kato Patissia Metro stop.
Deadline: Rolling Deadlines (monthly)

Mission: The mission of Good Hart Artist Residency is to connect artists and writers from around the world with the local community to inform, educate and empower people through art in the natural beauty of Northern Michigan.
We believe that connecting people from different backgrounds and cultures opens minds and makes for a more interesting and compassionate world. As our children were growing up we hosted multiple exchange students and always felt that we received far more than we gave. When our children left the nest we were left with an underutilized studio apartment space above our garage and we decided to start an artist residency program to provide opportunities and support to emerging artists. One of our daughters and our son-in-law are professional artists, and we have observed the challenges artists go through to grow their practice. Bill and I also see the importance of time to be creative in our everyday lives, through creating wearable and functional art, and cooking. Based on all of our experiences and a desire to support the arts we decided to establish the Good Hart Artist Residency program. We approached Crooked Tree Arts Center in Petoskey, Michigan in 2013 and set up our first community partnership.
After four great years hosting artists, in 2017 we decided to expand the program to bring in more artists and writers and partner with additional community organizations. We see art as a driver of social change. By partnering with other nonprofit organizations and connecting them with artists with common interests, it helps both get their message out to the public in creative ways. We support artists by providing them a place, great food and time to immerse themselves in their work and in the scenic landscapes of Northern Michigan. Through partnering with other organizations we provide opportunities for the local community to meet the artists, see their work, engage them in conversation and participate in educational workshops and presentations.
The resident artist is housed in a rural setting within walking distance of Lake Michigan and the village of Good Hart, along the “Tunnel of Trees,” a Scenic Heritage Route. The Good Hart Artist Residency offers both a solitary experience and the option to visit studios of local artists.
The many local, state, county, and township parks offer inspiring landscapes and habitats that may be also be of interest. Some of these locations include: Little Traverse Conservancy Nature Preserves, Headlands International Dark Sky Park, Elmer Johnston Nature Preserve, Goodhart Farms Nature Preserve, and Readmond Township Nature Preserve. These richly diverse habitats and our widely varying weather conditions provide dramatic content to artists interested in nature and landscape.

Number of Artists: Up to 15 at a time
Mission: Crosstown Arts is committed to providing resources and creating opportunities and experiences to inspire, support, and connect a diverse range of creative people, projects, and audiences. Our residency program is an integral part of this greater mission. The multidisciplinary artist residency program offers residencies for visiting and Memphis-based visual and performing artists working in any creative discipline as well as musicians, filmmakers, and writers in all genres.
Crosstown Arts was formed in 2010 with two goals: to create a vision for the redevelopment of the historic Sears Crosstown building (now Crosstown Concourse) and to help cultivate Memphis’s creative community. Establishing the Crosstown Residency program has been a integral goal from the organization’s inception and we established a single residency prototype program in 2015. In 2017, as we complete the redevelopment and move our operations into the new contemporary arts center within the building, the residency program is expanding to host up to 15 artists at a time, providing live space, work space, meals and access to our shared art-making workspace. We expect to be a full capacity in the summer of 2018.
The Crosstown Arts Residency Program is located in the Crosstown Concourse building (crosstownconcourse.com) an early twentieth century, former Sears distribution center and retail store. Newly redeveloped and reopened in 2017, it is located two miles from downtown, Memphis and the vibe is decidedly urban. Residency live spaces are located on the 8th & 9th floors, work spaces are on the 1st & 2nd floors, with the Crosstown Arts Contemporary art center which includes galleries, performance spaces, a shared art-making workspace and a cafe. The great 1.1 million square foot building has many convenient amenities and a strong sense of community.

AIP India allows artists to make textile designs alongside a grassroots block printing organization.
As an artist in residence with AIP, life and art unite. We believe that learning evolves from the studio, into walks, hikes, and conversations over dinner. We design the best experience for you, so that you can be as productive and engaged as possible. We encourage mindfulness and meaningful interactions within the AIP group and with the country of origin.
AIP was founded six years ago to design immersive learning experiences. We believe that travel allows us to see the world differently. We celebrate traditional art forms, and contemporary formats.
