i think the funniest and realist thing i’ve realized lately is how troubling idealization can be. every person is just… a person. the very people you want to impress or be apart of are just people. even if they seem wildly intimidating because of the way they look or because of their reputation, every one is just a person. human. as embarrassing, as remorseful and they are going through stages of growth just like you are. we only see what we want to see and then drown ourselves further in our own depression and we don’t have to.

The way Bakugou says his name is like a prayer.

"Izuku."

Contrite. Solemn. Reverent. Bakugou says it the way one savors the taste of wine. It rolls around in his tongue, coats his throat in a cherry-sweetness that makes him feel light-headed yet grounded all at once. Izuku, he says, and it's three syllables but somehow it sounds like a plea, gratitude, and confession all at the same time.

Maybe that is why the blond never says his real name. Maybe that is why he never lets himself say the things that occupy his thoughts and fill his heart. The name drips from his mouth like honey, sticky and slow with every emotion no one but the other boy has ever seen on his face. Their witnesses shiver, cough and look away because they've never felt something quite as raw as this.

The way Midoriya replies is like a secret.

"Katsuki."

Soft. Gentle. Full of yearrning. It reminds the other of sleepovers at night, voices muffled by pillows and sleep while talking about things that meant nothing to the world but everything to them. Midoriya says it like he's been keeping it inside his chest for so long, protecting and guarding it until this very moment. Katsuki, he says, and it's also three syllables so it sounds like a confession of love all the same.

It's a miracle, others would think, that they could even utter those two words in the state that they are. Tired, broken, hopeless—yet every letter sounds like every ounce of their being was placed into it. The two of them look at each other and it's like the rest of the world fades away.

Izuku and Katsuki. Not Deku, not Kacchan, not Midoriya or Bakugou. Not Dynamight or the Chosen One or anything else. Izuku and Katsuki. As they were and as they always will be.

They say each other's names and it sounds like twin stars being born.
