अंग्रेज़ी हो…या देसी, फ़िल्में सभी… मैंने देखी 😀: We watch movies & series in all languages regularly, thanks to OTT 😎 Why, I even watch Jap anime 🤦🏻‍♂️ The experience of reading fictions, however, still remains a few notches above that of watching a movie. While reading a good fictional work the mind creates a world using our imaginations which is more stimulating & immersive than watching the designed sets readily given to us in movies. This difference is almost tangibly felt if one is reading a fantastic novel like ‘Song of the Golden Sparrow’ by @nilanjanpc I feel compelled to share my experience with the novel because it impressed me in truly ‘novel’ ways 👌 The story takes us through major historical moments in India from 1947 to the post-Covid period as we laugh, worry, get motivated, get inspired, get stressed up & at times cry with the protagonist & the narrator. The narrator is a Yaksha (heard of them? 😀) who has been exiled to earth. Fantasy, in this story, blends with stark reality seamlessly in an immersive way & facts are presented the way they are without much favouritism as the protagonist, Manu’s life, crosses paths of personalities as diverse as Lennon, Premji & Modi, to name a few. The central characters are well created & not overwhelmingly large in number & the entire story has humour & wit that connect continuously. Read it & let me know how you felt. 110 kilos to 78 kilos : When I considered making a living by performing music & conducting musical games for employee engagement, I weighed more than 110 kilos. Since the audience/participants had to watch me I decided to be as pleasant as I could be to watch & started taking steps to reach 75 kilos which is the weight I should apparently have for my height. Today after plateauing at 78 kilos last few months I decided to stop the weight loss measures & start working towards having a healthy physique with the muscles necessary for that.
