Never thought you’d be on the cover of Punk Magazine

Extra + explanation under the cut!

Ok so I’ve decided that I want to make my posts bigger every time. I haven’t decided on Jackie next or Misty. But for now let’s focus on Natalie. i was (hopefully obviously) inspired by 90’s punk magazines for the obvious reasons of Natalie’s aesthetic and such. But, this idea of a “Punk” is someone who kind of hates authority. “Stick it to the man”, and it’s odd because it seems like her whole life Natalie has just craved that sort of Authority.

Coach Ben takes the center, hunting rifle to his chin blowing his brains out. Nat’s hunting rifle. Upon rewatching Season 2 Episode 6, Natalie bringing in Coach Ben during this pivotal moment. He had been there for her before, maybe he can help Shauna now. But just like her father, he failed. Didn’t even crumble under the pressure he didn’t even try. To Nat it’s almost like no one ever wants to try for her.

Other than Lottie. I really find the LottieNat dynamic interesting. At every turn, mostly in the 2nd season, Lottie was trying to take care of Natalie.

Something something, Nat being indoctrinated into Lottie’s religion (the cult), did more harm than good. initially Natalie denied any of Lottie’s help. (The text around it will say something like “You laid in your mother’s lap decades too late”. 

1- to mirror the scene where Nat lays her head in Charlotte’s lap.

2- a lot of the page (and the reason it’s a punk page at all), is because of nat’s deterrence to authority. She tried to find a father in coach Ben, but when she needed him most he wasn’t around  Natalie was doomed to fail as antler queen, it’s almost a “mother”-like role. The burn signifies the fact that she has been touched by the wilderness, branded permanently with it. But left with so much care to give and no one to give it to. i like the idea that nat truly cares. Even back in the pilot! “I don’t know, play like a fucking team and win?”
