The olive tree of Vouves, on Crete. This tree, which has a trunk 15 feet in diameter, is at least 2,000 years old, and likely 2,900 years old, based on the graveyard found nearby. This tree likely lived through the writing of the Iliad, the golden age of Athens, the rise of the Roman Empire, and the birth of Christ – and then lived for 2,000 years after that. It still produces olives, as well!

@copiesofher asked: “ i’m fine. i’ve had worse. ” - from ... carwen?
❛ you are bleeding heavily from a wound on your head and leg, ❜ HIS VOICE IS QUIET AND CONCERNED, even for a stranger only met on the side of the road. with no carts nearby nor town to rush to easily, theo felt he had little choice but to stop his own journey and help. in his leather satchel holds a few healing potions, make-shift bandages, water, food, and two amulets belonging to mara and arkay - for good measure.
❛ it does not matter to me if you’ve had worse, you won’t be able to get to the nearest town in this state. let me help you. ❜

[ … ]
It was as he had thought, so there is no surprise to learn that he had been right. The other had in fact been the reason behind why the guard was lying on the floor. At least it wasn’t a trooper, so Anakin didn’t have the feeling of responsibility hanging over his head. Though at the same time he had hoped to fulfil this mission without any trouble so that the council might finally recognise his potential.
Anakin feels hypocritical to be the lawful one, seeing how he often did things his own way, but it just happens to be how the roles are divided between them. “As much as I wish it was plausible to take someone out because of the way they look at you, I know it isn’t.” This would be an interesting mission if it kept going this way. “Probably? How about unless they’re an actual threat you make that a promise?” He’s not angry, he’s more concerned that the outcome of this mission won’t be very successful.
He watches as his companion props up the guard against the wall and makes a slight exasperated noise to himself. “Come on, let’s investigate.” Anakin holds his hand up and pushes open the door that the guard was protecting with use of the force.
HIS RESIDING THOUGHTS ARE: AT LEAST THEY’RE NOT DEAD. in anakin’s defence taking out someone purely because they looked at you wrong was, indeed, a ridiculous idea, but after spending so long in the midst of coruscant undercity watching how civilians ended up in the gutter for much less, taking out a guard for this reason alone seemed plausible.
but they weren’t in the undercity anymore. there’s no need to prove ANY strength nor is anyone going to give two looks about how he may, or may not, share similarities between some ancient planet which was destroyed. it’s time theseus faced up to that, because he’s not come across anyone who’s brought it up in conversation so why would anyone else ------ and that includes people STARING at you because you were staring intensely first.
to help skywalker. THAT was the mission. not, get into trouble as soon as you arrive somewhere alongside skywalker. sometimes he wonders how the jedi council still seek for his help in such matters. ❛ fine, but if we do encounter trouble i’m going to be seriously upset if i do not get to throw them over the bar counter downstairs. ❜ he lightly jokes, any evidence of frustration or secrecy gone within an instance. theo’s back is turned as anakin makes way into the room so doesn’t notice anything at first ; there’s a few pats on the unconscious man’s shoulder before swiftly moving into the room.
IT’S QUIET. TOO QUIET. for a room to be guarded by someone from the planet’s royal military there was some thinking that something, or someone, would be occupying this room ; but there’s nothing. no lifeforms, no secret weird object, nothing out of the usual except for the nagging feeling that something felt WRONG. ❛ this is... bizarre. what was the reason you were assigned to this mission again, general ? because i truly doubt it’s to secure an empty room. ❜

“Is there no other way?“
“Go ahead and struggle!”
“Over already?“
“Do you want to die that badly?“
“Hm? I guess that was too much…“
“Don’t push yourself. Training will do no good with a broken limb.”
“Is something distracting you?”
“You’ve got some guts… for a fool.“
“Is this the best you can do?”
“I’ll play with you for a little while.“
“You haven’t progressed at all. Focus.”
“Damn… I messed up.“
“You keep slipping up. You’re making easy mistakes.”
“It’s training now, but soon it could be a life or death situation.”
“Nothing will come of hate.“
“You can’t fight this with strength alone.”
“You’re wasting my time.”
“You still have a lot to learn.”
“That’s two out of three that I’ve gotten the upper hand.”
“You need to take this more seriously!”
“You’re still too weak.”

“You and me. Let’s go.”
“A fight with me is too dangerous.”
“You don’t know what you’re getting into.”
“Fine, you asked for it.”
“This should be easy.”
“So, you wanna fight?”
“Just to let you know, I’ve never lost a fight.”
“This is the end for you!”
“Feisty one, eh? Not bad.”
“Not bad, but you can do better.”
“I’m not here to play with you.”
“I’ve got you pinned.”
“You could hardly stand, it’s over.”
“There, are you satisfied now?”
“You really thought you could win? How cute.“
“This place, will be your grave.”
“Your suffering will be over in a moment.”
“Did you really expect me, to yield to the likes of you?”
“Mark my words… I will kill you and I’ll be after your friends next.”
“Hmph. You don’t change much, do you?“
“You’re too impulsive… it’s reckless.”
“I’ll wipe that grin off your face.”
“Defeat me and ‘maybe’ I’ll tell you where your friend is.”
“It wasn’t a question, you need to take a break. We’ve been going at it for hours.”
“I’m telling you, there’s no chance of you beating me.”
“Look dollface, I don’t have time to play.”
“Just cause you’re cute, I’ll take it easy on you.”
“I’ll fight with one hand behind my back, see? Swing away.”
“You’re really cute when you’re mad.”
“Good, you’re holding up well.”
“Don’t get distracted, not even for a moment. Don’t avert your eyes.”
“Push yourself beyond your limits.”
“Your shoulders are tense. Don’t overthink it. Loosen up.”
“Feel like running away?”
“You’re too timid, it’s easy to see you as a target.”
“They’re not always going to be around to babysit you.”
“You’re going to die here, and easily.”
