Over the past five months we’ve been experimenting with boosting the soil health of the back undercroft fernery where the main bathroom windows are located. It’s starting to pay off. The tidy before the messy. We’re slowly setting up the vegetable garden/ food forest. It is a steep hill with lots of clay. So we’ve gone with a series of raised boxes for mobility. Some will be wicking beds others are set up with drip line irrigation. We have filled the planters with a range of existing soil and wood logs, cardboard, worms, premium topsoil with mushroom manure and sprinkled with sugarcane mulch.
