Hi. Me again. Of all my art, I find myself revisiting this the most. I don’t think I’ve ever made something that I’ve found so personally comforting. I made it during a hard time that I genuinely thought might mark a lull in — if not an end to — the years-long bad luck streak that accompanied my mom’s death. I was wrong.

It’s hard work, keeping people alive. Doesn’t matter if it’s someone else, yourself, or both. Especially when reality keeps bending to suit a world you no longer recognize as your own. A world so fragile it must keep moving because it will shatter if it ever stops to mourn.

I finished Sunrise on the Reaping today and wanted to bring this back again. I’m continuously amazed by the work Suzanne Collins puts out in my adult life. Still touched by the love this piece gets. Thank you for keeping it alive in my notifications. I hope our human hands and minds never stop making art inspired by art.

THG has been my comfort series since my mom died, and it especially helped get me through my dad’s heart surgery earlier this year.

Things have been hard. I know I haven’t posted much art, but the reception this little comic got on here has been the biggest bright spot with my work in 2024. I love checking tumblr every so often and seeing folks add it to their orange/happy/hope tags.

I just wanted to say thanks and bring this back today. May we build a future soft and full of orange peels.
