Are you guys planning on running the fest this year? I know it’s a really chaotic time, and that it might be stressful to add to it, so if understand if you weren’t going to go through with it.

Hey anon! You're right, it's a very chaotic time right now. Not just for us mods but for our participants as well. We've been reassessing the situation week by week to see what's best for everyone and we feel most comfortable continuing to play it by ear for now. We're likely going to postpone KPBB 2020 for a few months/until later this year when things have calmed down more.

Are you guys interested at all in suggestions to consider for next year's fest? If not, it's totally fine, but there were just a few things I thought I'd run by you all if you were.

I think we’re happy to hear positive constructive feedback, especially from someone who actually participated and is willing to come off of anonymous. There’s no guarantee that there will be a next year’s fest at this point though (I think all 3 of us have taken a step back from omgcp fandom and there was a lot of discussion about even doing it this year at all.) 

This was our 3rd consecutive year running this challenge (4th consecutive year overall!) and we’re really proud of the little niche KPBB carved into fandom and while we do try to take feedback into consideration, we can’t do it all and we have boundaries. It’s hard to really express how many hours of work we pour into this event behind-the-scenes to make it run on time and successfully.

Running his hands over his wet hair, Jeff stares at himself in the mirror. He can totally do this. He’s known Kent for like, seven years, now. Kent won’t freak out.

Maybe.

Okay, so there’s like, an 85% chance he won’t freak out. Jeff lets out a sigh, shuts his eyes for a moment. The bathroom is still steamy from his shower, the clean smell of soap and the mint shampoo Kent kept in there for him lingering in the air. Everything is familiar and warm, the day like any other day – he met Kent early in the morning for a run, they came back to the house to clean up before starting the rest of the day. They had a routine. And spending a ton of time with your hockey buddy was, like, totally normal.

Or it had been, anyway. Jeff’s not sure, now.

Part 1: Laundry Day

When Whiskey’s car breaks down in the Middle Of Nowhere, New York state, while on his way to sign with the Albany Albatrosses, the first surprise is that the local mechanic turns out to be none other than Kent Parson, former number one NHL draft pick, former media darling, current pain in the ass. The second surprise is that somehow he finds himself sticking around long after his car’s been repaired. Without much intention of doing so, he drifts into Parson’s good graces, and then his house, and then his bed, and then his life.

The third surprise is that they fit together, naturally, the way two things that aren’t supposed to go together sometimes do - cheddar cheese and apple pie, golden retrievers and cheetahs, and, apparently, him and Parse. Settled into a house he doesn’t even have to pay rent on, splitting the chores and the bills with a steady, long-term partner before he’s even close to 30 isn’t where he saw his life going, but he’s definitely not complaining.
