Dawn, listen to me. I love you. I will always love you. This is the work that I have to do. Tell Giles... tell Giles, I figured it out. And I'm okay. And give my love to my friends. You have to take care of them now. You have to take care of each other. You have to be strong. Dawn, the hardest thing in this world is to live in it.

Death is not just Buffy’s gift to the Scooby gang and the world.
Death is life’s gift to Buffy. Death is a gift she gives to herself. So she can rest. In peace.

anyway you should always remember that all those foreigners you see dying on the news are just as real people as you are who have just as much interiority as you do. there is nothing about you that makes you more important and it is by pure chance that you are not in their position. in fact, this holds for all of history. every person, no matter the horror of the fate that befell them, had just as much interiority as you do. i feel like some people haven't fully internalized this.

Every single tool in the world is just a tool.
Being “anti” anything is about fear. And what you’re really fearing is that people don’t have values.
Because if people have good, humanistic values, then they use the tools in ways that are reflective of those values. If they have bad, anti-social, anti-humanist values, the way they use the tools will be reflective of those values.
You’re not “anti AI” — you’re recognizing the human shadow. You’re fearing a collapse of value and meaning. That doesn’t come from the tools — it comes from people’s internal worlds. It comes from lack of conscious engagement with the world and humanity.
Being awake and conscious is a choice.
That said, this may sound very much like a “guns don’t kill people, people kill people argument” — and it is. But just like I believe guns should be regulated due to their potential for harm, I believe AI should also be regulated.

This isn't exactly the same, but when people crawled up James Cameron's ass about criticizing Wonder Woman, I had to give major side-eye.
I could give a fuck about Wonder Woman. My feminist action movie icons are Lindsey Brigman, Ellen Ripley, and Sarah Connor.
I ain't sorry.
genres i'm tired of:
"feminist retellings" of stories that can already be considered feminist in their own right
"feminist retellings" that fumble the "feminist" plotline so bad it just turns misogynistic
"feminist retellings" that still center around and hinge on men
"feminist retellings" written by people who don't understand what feminism is

“Until your knees finally hit the floor, you’re just playing at life, and on some level you’re scared because you know you’re just playing. The moment of surrender is not when life is over. It’s when it begins.”
