Nothing shuts down a bougie conversation like "well, when I was homeless—" Nothing. It's one and done. They are fucking taken out. The conversation is dead. Done.

1400. Adam, Samuel and Peter managed to kill their archvampire, and are now free. They decide to seize this newlyfound freedom, and do everything they can, for all the time they have now, promising to meet other regularly to give news.
1885. Samuel has been a doctor for centuries, signing anonymous medicine essays, giving all his years of knowledge to humans. Peter gets interested by everything: he worked every possible job (his favorite being journalism since the beginning of the century) and gets bored as soon as he masters something.
Adam has nothing: no passion, no job, no hobby he didn't abandon. He has money he gives artists to entertain one's talent but his own. But Adam wants to exist. He doesn't want to get bored too quick, and can't comprehend accepting being anonymous. He wants something, for him, a proof he once existed.
And something new (here since a couple decades already) starts to tickle his attention: photography.
Hi! This is a new AU I'm developing. There is more to the story, but I'm not giving everything away at once 🤫 I've watched Sinners last month and well. I have been obssessed.
I've always liked vampires stories, but I have never write one that truly compelled me, and here it is : bored vampire. Pathetic vampire. When eternal life makes everything die too quickly. I like pathetic characters, failed characters, scared characters, and I put a lot of myself in it. Promise, it is not sad, the way I see it. It is just how life goes 🙏

i think every medieval timesey ren fair type attraction should have a booth of pedantry where if you wanna know if something happening is Authentic or you wanna ask questions about real medieval times or whatever you can stop by and there's just a historian sitting on a throne of books eager to show you all their research

the "feeling like something is wrong with you that you have to hide" background noise is often a result of childhood trauma because an abused or neglected child who doesn't rationalize their mistreatment runs the risk of alienating themselves from what little shelter and care is actually being provided. it's theorized that blaming yourself at that age is a way to survive by coming up with a justification for why you're being abused so you don't blame your caregivers for your own suffering, thereby alienating them to the point that you are fed or sheltered or protected even less than you are currently. believing you may be able to "change" so that you're worthy of love also prevents despair/giving up. it's of utmost importance to the survival of very small children to develop a worldview that keeps them alive, even if it's by totally magical thinking and at the cost of their ability to perceive reality or navigate normal human relationships. the same thing can happen to adults in abusive domestic situations.
anyway once you're out of that situation it's time to get really pissed off

i think too many people operate under the assumption that emotions are some frivilous fantasy of the mind and have no impact on the physical world, which is a cute thought when Humans are an animal that can die from being kinda stressed out

what draws me to decay i think is how utterly it rejects dichotomy. it comes from both within and without; it's the mechanism that forms the clock counting down the days until we die, and it finds its way back to itself inside the body through inertia and opening. rot is a connective force that reaches out to itself through us, and rot is a destructive force that pulls everything apart, literally and metaphorically. to exist is to be marked; to be stained indelibly. to touch is to accumulate that stain and spread it. corruption is the tie that binds and the teeth that fray the cord between them until it breaks.
