I never used to understand it either but then I got into LITA and I can't speak for everyone, but for me, being into the actors is basically a different fandom. Like, the pipeline is very short and obvious, but I'm wringing my hands over Boss and Noeul bc they're being insane at their events, not bc their characters are being insane in their show. the characters are doing it in a different way. it's like when you're into a drama and everyone else in the server is talking about a different drama from the same company.
I do Not understand people who become obsessed with the actor who plays their favorite character. That is not my beloved babygirl, Steve Harrington, that is a random man that has ensorclled you with his likeness. Begone, snake!

last time someone asked me if I like cheese my answer was "yes but I can't be summoned with it or anything" and that was because of posts like this
they laughed like it wasn't a perfectly reasonable distinction to make in their world
as a white person i can confirm that cheese is basically like god and life to me. i can be baited with cheese 100% of the time. i will tunnelvision a wedge of sharp cheddar from the other side of the room in any and every setting

i was cuddling with my boyfriend last night when his shoulder started tensing up (like he was readjusting or gently pushing me off) and when i asked him if he was okay or needed me to move or something he went “no you’re fine, i was just imagining myself pulling a large rope. i didn’t even realize my shoulder was doing that lmao” then refused to elaborate and i have never been as attracted to him as i was in that moment.

Anon come back how do you teach yourself to purr
can't speak for anon but if you can gargle water, do the same breathing thing at the back of your throat, and practice until you can do it with your teeth together. Once you can do that you can adjust your pitch until it's about the same as a large housecat.
I had a friend who could make the sound come out of her upper chest but I've never managed that

Buffy has been off the air for 21 years
Sarah Michelle Gellar Vs. Morena Baccarin
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Propaganda
Sarah Michelle Gellar - (Buffy the Vampire Slayer) - Y’all Buffy IS that girl and you know it. Badass who excels at fighting and killing monsters? Undoubtedly! Wears cute outfits while doing so? Constantly! Has multiple handsome vampire boyfriends by the throat? She’s a trendsetter baby! Great hair? MOST episodes! Admired in the coursework of literal universities? Sign me up for Buffy Studies! And most importantly, Buffy wouldn’t be all she is without being anchored by an excellent performance by the truly talented actress portraying her. SMG is not JUST cute and fun, she has pathos by the bucketful, and her richly textured, layered portrayal of a teenage girl who acutely feels the burden of heroism keeps you transfixed. Watching her slowly smile, truthfully, despite the weight of the world settled firmly on her shoulders, is the sun coming out from behind a cloud. Buffy is vibrant in ways she wouldn’t have been if anyone else had played her, and gods if talent isn’t one of the hottest things of all
Morena Baccarin - (Firefly) - No text propaganda

We all know that when your boss asks you to do something, it's not optional, right? And I don't mean your boss told you to do the thing the stupid way and you did it the smart way and it's not like they can tell from the end product. I mean, your boss gave you edits and you didn't use any of them. I mean, your boss told you not to read from your phone when giving a presentation and you did it anyway. I mean, your boss asked you to be at an event, and you told them you'd see if you had time.

I was homeschooled and it's one of the best things that ever happened to me (I don't believe I have ever in my life had a nightmare about classes or tests, all my stress dreams are about packing, airplanes, and theatre) and I still agree that there are probably things that could be done to better protect children of fringe extremists.
All my mother had to do was send a letter to the govt telling them that we were homeschooling every year and get me to take the California Achievement Test (we do not live in California) to prove I was learning things. The CAT was always at least a grade level below the grade it was theoretically testing and there's nothing stopping the parent from taking it for them either. I don't know what to DO about this, because having harder tests or interviewing children cause different, worse problems, but it's a thing. Would requiring the parents to pass some sort of course do more harm than good too?
(You say it would change nothing for the families who are serious about their children's education, but you need to consider that a major reason for homeschooling besides indoctrination is children with some sort of disability that would make traditional school even more traumatizing than usual. Kids with severe ADHD. Kids with dyslexia and dyscalculia [Hi.] Kids with the kind of shyness that gets diagnosed as social anxiety when they grow up. Whatever regulations you impose need to not cancel out the benefits AS WELL as not be easily got around via lying.)
I do have one concrete idea, though, can we ban christian science textbooks? Like, not textbooks about Christian Scientists, I mean chemistry textbooks that are written like "here's what they want you to know about chemistry but also remember it can all be overwritten by god's will" and biology textbooks that misteach evolution to such a degree evolution could sue them for libel. I suppose there's no way to stop those getting published the normal ways, but could we make it harder for them to be recognized as actual textbooks, and socially unacceptable for publishers to take them? I actually went to community college for chemistry because my mother couldn't find a secular chemistry curriculum. Now I'll grant you this is more than a decade ago, but I have little hope that things have changed.
What do other countries do?
homeschooling in the US needs to be regulated but this is one of those conversations that immediately gets crushed by extremist conservatives and even well-meaning liberals will pipe up to be like "well some homeschooling is good!" when that's absolutely not relevant. regulation will not change anything for the homeschooling families who are serious about their children's education. the people who need to be regulated are the fringe extremists
