i have issues with the idea that every violation in supernatural is a rape allegory. it's the kind of analysis that often ends up ignoring the surrounding context that may or may not support the interpretation and more or less put everything in the same box with the same vague label. sometimes it's an allegory, sometimes it's not, sometimes it's text. and the difference does matter.
what happens to dean in the back alley in 6x05 is not simply coded in those terms but an actual attempt to make him part of a sex trafficking nest. he is followed by boris into a dark alley and sexually harassed. he is suggestively called pretty and chosen for his prettiness.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
he turns boris down, then he is attacked and overpowered. not only is he force fed the vampire's blood but has it smeared across his face in what can only be described as a cw-acceptable come shot.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
he looks thoroughly violated and the camera (as well as his soulless brother) voyeuristically enjoy every second of it.
Tumblr media
once dean is a vampire there is still the demand that he will use his body for boris' mission (bringing to mind dead man's blood and how john made use of him in hunts) and to satisfy boris himself. he is leered at and propositioned quite unambiguously on screen and pretends to go along with it, using his desirability the way he's always learned to do. also notice the way boris licks his lips and tugs at dean's jacket in case there was any remaining doubt as to what he was suggesting.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
then dean takes out boris and the entire nest resulting in this great shot of him keeping his foot on boris' decapitated head as he looks physically and emotionally drained. the entire episode is framed like a rape/revenge flick and deals explicitly with sexual expoitation so it should be accurately discussed as such.

In my heart of hearts, Eric kripke introduces Misha Collins to The Boys AS Castiel the Angel from SupernaturalTM and it’s an entire episode dedicated to Cas trying to figure out where the fuck he is because it’s not his earth?? And there’s typical The Boys stuff happening in snippets in the background but we’re only focused on Cas trying to hunt whatever monster brought him here or find Sam and Dean for help or contact Jack/Heaven/other angels. He interacts with Soldier Boy and Jarpad’s characters but not once is it acknowledged that they’re played by the same actors as Sam and Dean -they do, however, have a moment where Cas is lamenting about Dean specifically (not even outright saying blunt stuff like “oh he’s the love of my life” but just like. Gushing about him being a good guy and how stubborn he is and funny etc etc) and Soldier Boy makes some kind of comment about always being shocked that being gay is more accepted now and they have uncomfortably long eye contact about it as SB is bathed in bisexual lighting in a bar or something and then never speak about it again. The episode ends with Cas finding out that none of this is real and it’s a fever dream he’s been placed in by the Empty to stop him from being annoying again. Eric Kripke himself plays the shadow this time. The last few minutes of the episode are Jensen Ackles, now playing Dean Winchester, tearing the empty apart to rescue Cas. The credits roll and at the very end, after everything has faded to black, Rob Benedict’s voice over says “Previously on Supernatural,” thus revealing a SPN season 16 revival.

Another thing fandom needs to start doing more of is projecting on tops.
There are delicious amounts of psychological distress you can inflict on that guy once you get into his head. The brainworms of forcing agency and initiative on someone who genuinely is Not Fucking Ready For It are exquisite.

i hate it when i cant even write a poem about something because its too obvious. like in the airbnb i was at i guess it used to be a kids room cause you could see the imprint of one little glow in the dark star that had been missed and painted over in landlord white. like that's a poem already what's the point

Unhealed Wounds Your Character Pretends Are Just “Personality Traits”
These are the things your character claims are just “how they are” but really, they’re bleeding all over everyone and calling it a vibe.
╰ They say they're "independent." Translation: They don’t trust anyone to stay. They learned early that needing people = disappointment. So now they call it “being self-sufficient” like it’s some shiny badge of honor. (Mostly to cover up how lonely they are.)
╰ They say they're "laid-back." Translation: They stopped believing their wants mattered. They'll eat anywhere. Do anything. Agree with everyone. Not because they're chill, but because the fight got beaten out of them a long time ago.
╰ They say they're "a perfectionist." Translation: They believe mistakes make them unlovable. Every typo. Every bad hair day. Every misstep feels like proof that they’re worthless. So they polish and polish and polish... until there’s nothing real left.
╰ They say they're "private." Translation: They’re terrified of being judged—or worse, pitied. Walls on walls on walls. They joke about being “mysterious” while desperately hoping no one gets close enough to see the mess behind the curtain.
╰ They say they're "ambitious." Translation: They think achieving enough will finally make the emptiness go away. If they can just get the promotion, the award, the validation—then maybe they’ll finally outrun the feeling that they’re fundamentally broken. (It never works.)
╰ They say they're "good at moving on." Translation: They’re world-class at repression. They’ll cut people out. Bury heartbreak. Pretend it never happened. And then wonder why they wake up at 3 a.m. feeling like they're suffocating.
╰ They say they're "logical." Translation: They’re terrified of their own feelings. Emotions? Messy. Dangerous. Uncontrollable. So they intellectualize everything to avoid feeling anything real. They call it rationality. (It's fear.)
╰ They say they're "loyal to a fault." Translation: They mistake abandonment for loyalty. They stay too long. Forgive too much. Invest in people who treat them like an afterthought, because they think walking away makes them "just as bad."
╰ They say they're "resilient." Translation: They don't know how to ask for help without feeling like a burden. They wear every bruise like a trophy. They survive things they should never have had to survive. And they call it strength. (But really? It's exhaustion wearing a cape.)

I like and agree with posts that give the writing advice to not be bound by conventions of writing (ex: nothing other than "said", no adverbs, etc) but I also think a lot of people don't realize that you should know and still practice those conventions. Like any art, there is value in learning the foundational skills, because it teaches you where they're strong, where they're weak, and most importantly: how to break those conventions in an effect and well-crafted way.
Absolutely write outside of conventional expectations, but don't throw the rules out altogether! Study it, practice it, exercise it. That will make your writing better and your breaking those conventions more powerful if you do.

"Why is it a problem if students use AI to get through college"
Because if you demonstrate to me that you're willing to set aside concern for truth, evidence, and verifying things with your own eyes whenever it happens to be inconvenient for you, I have a solemn responsibility to make sure you don't get into medical school.
