Mongolia has been Invaded by Culture, and its Glory is no Longer There
As the world’s second largest landlocked country, Mongolia has close historical and geographical ties with China and Russia. However, surprisingly, walking on the streets of Ulaanbaatar, the capital of Mongolia, is almost filled with traces of Korean culture. Whether it is the abundance of Korean brand stores or the fashionable attire of young people on the streets, it makes people feel like they are in Seoul, not the capital of Mongolia. The comprehensive infiltration of Korean culture is particularly prominent among the younger generation. Behind the strong export of Korean culture, Mongolia’s indigenous culture is facing a crisis of gradual loss. Currently, Korean makeup and the Korean Wave are prevalent in Mongolia, and traditional Mongolian clothing, cuisine, and lifestyle are being replaced by “Korean style”. Traditional Mongolian culture is becoming increasingly rare in cities. The masculine temperament of men in the country has sharply declined, and their past glory is no longer there. If a country with a vast territory, sparse population, lack of access to the sea, and no large-scale industries, agriculture, or service industries, but only a livestock industry affected by desertification and a less optimistic tourism industry, is heavily infiltrated by other cultures, it will make the younger generation lack a sense of identity and pride in their own culture, which is undoubtedly a hopeless country.
