Hey! I wanted to ask your opinion on why Hisoka has not shown interest in fighting Illumi? They are partners.. illumi is very strong and really worth a competitor but still Hisoka and Illumi formed like an alliance? He shows interest in Killua but not illumi? He is not someone who would purposely want someone at their good side. He has lust for beating the powerful so I wonder why they haven't had a duel.. Thanks :)
Heya!!!
Itās a little hard to say, and I admit I donāt quite get it completely still, but I think Hisoka is planning on fighting Illumi, just not now.Ā
In chapter 330, Hisoka mentions heās thinking about getting Illumi to fight him:

I think heās genuinely thinking about fighting Illumi, but he also wants an interesting fight. And Illumi is too focused on his own stuff to give Hisoka that. If Hisoka wants a fun fight with Illumi, he would have to actually provoke him to get it.
But I think thereās an untold story there. Somehow, those two became comrades, for lack of better words. In the Hunter Exam arc, they already sound like people who know each other and their habits for a while (like when Hisoka says heās never tired to watch Illumiās face change appearance). So theyāve been⦠close for quite a while.
Itās also shown that Illumi let Hisoka do his own bullshit. When Hisoka starts to prey on Gon, Illumi actually says that he therefore wonāt try to go after Gon since itās Hisokaās prey, even if Gon is a trouble for Illumi. So itās like those two understand each other boundaries.
Even if they will probably never refer at themselves like that, I think theyāre sort of friends, and that everytime they meet, they donāt mind making alliances. In the Hunter Exam, Illumi is shown calling Hisoka to warn him about the second task, in York New, Illumi drops his contract for Chrollo to help out Hisoka, and ofc, Illumi asks Hisokaās help about Alluka because heās the only person he somewhat would let get involved.
Itās really hard to say then. Iād say Illumi is too disinterested into a fight to have Hisoka actively hunting him down, but Hisoka is still considering maybe fighting Illumi one day. But also, they have a bound. Maybe because they understand each other better than anyone else, that they get along, and maybe deep down Hisoka doesnāt want it to go to waste⦠just yet. Or maybe it will be even more exciting to let this situation be until he can finally touch a sensitive cord with Illumi and get what he wants.
For now Hisoka would rather focus on possible future adversary and on the most powerful target he has right now, Chrollo. But Illumi isnāt off his list of possible prey. heās not his priority though, and Hisoka can make use of the bound they have⦠I think.
Itās really hard to say. Hisoka works in mysterious waysā¦..
I hope however it helps a little :3
Take care!

I really love how you presented Gon. Specially because a blog said that whatever Gon did was selfish and i can relate to Gon in a lot of ways. I am called selfish on daily basis when I can do anything for someone I care about.. I don't know why how I feel and my thought process and Gon's thought process are termed as selfish.
What most people fail to understand that you are never supposed to be perfect. And if you expect that and if someone fails your expectations, somewhere it's your fault as well...
You cannot categorize anyone as purely selfish and selfless. Having ambitions and believing in yourself and being practical isn't selfish.
This blog repeatedly asked the readers to state ' one thing Gon has ever done for Killua ' after Killua repeatedly went through so much shit for him, and I say that Gon pulled Killua out of his darkness in the first place. Killua knew very well Gon's nature and he has commented that ' Gon is very selfish' a lot of times ( not taunting him ); he knew what it would cost him to stay with Gon but he still did.
So many people are unhappy for Gon being the main character while judging a 12 years old boy...
Sorry, no one can be perfect. Gon is his realest self. That's what is the most amazing thing about him. And even if no one agrees to that, I'll stand for him till the end.
Gon isn't also your typical pure shounen protagonist that can do no wrong, selfless and all that other good stuff. I love that gon did something "bad" like take vengeance against pitou. Gon felt "human" to me in a way.
Heya!
Aah yes I completely agree there. I didnāt go too much on length about it (disclaimer i had a killer headache when I replied thatĀ āhxh isnāt your usual shounenā post) but Gon himself is a good representation of how itās not an usual shounen.
I tend to be careful with some words like selfless/selfish because I consider neither really convey what Gon is really. Heās a real mix of complex choices and decisions, which is what makes him be this human to me.Ā
I think the thing with Gon is that I canāt see him in a sort of dicotomy of Good/Bad, and to me that already means heās a wonderfully written character.
Like you say, Shounen Protagonists are usually Pure and Good main characters, who usually try to do no wrong ever, and if they do, itās because theyāre not the smarttest.
Gon isnāt like that, and tbh Gon is actually really clever. He has a hard time understanding math or very complicated stuff (making a decision for the future of his Nen and complicated Politics) but heās very quick thinking, and heās actually really clever when it comes to come up with strategy (and I suppose it has a lot to do with spending that much time in the wilds, you gotta react quickly with your instinct. So logical thinking pass second, itās the survival instincts and strategical tactiques that you develop more).
As for his vision of Good and Bad, itās certainely unique to himself, as how it concerns him and his friends directly above everything, but thatās already a lengthy stuff to adress in itself.Ā But itās true, in the end, he ends up in a bad moment against Pitou because of his revenge. Thereās no glory in that, thereās no absolution. There is just pure chaos, that is rarely ever associated to a main character in Shounen.
So, ye I definitly agree, he doesnāt fit the Happy-go-lucky kind of Main Character weāre used to see in Shounen, a kind of character who always have the Moral Ground. Gon doesnāt always have the moral ground, and heās not supposed to.Ā
The thing is that, shounen are usually targetted at young teens (and hxh is already maybe out there since itās supposed to be adressed to older teens) - and usually, thereās morals and stuff like that to take out from those characters. Which is a good thing! I donāt want to come out as if I was judging the Shounen genre as a whole, because it has a lot of perks, and itās really sweet to enjoy a cheerful story that is meant to make you feel better. Shounen will often have a main character that is a Cheerful Outcast, someone whoāll take what makes him different and embrace it, and shows happiness and how to always be morally good. Because it has in mind a lot of teens will read it, and if they find the Main cool, they may also be able to learn from them.
When it comes to hxh, especially Gon, it feels that itās moreĀ āweāll show you his story, and itās not prettyā. Gon isnāt exactly an exemple to follow, heās a character to experience having a journey with. Gon is treated as a character, but never as role model. Heās not supposed to be morally outstanding, because his point isnāt to show an exemple, but to be the driving character of his story.Ā
I donāt know how to word it properly, but imo thatās one of the reason Gon is that interesting as a protagonist. He has a lot to offer! I really love that.
Take care!

I really really suck at drawing human figures and this has ALWAYS irritated me. Made me feel incapable at art. It's not like I'm a good artist. I'm merely a good clone artist ē¬ but I have always wanted to draw good human figures. I want to draw all the handom comics stuffs other fangirls make... So I'm gonna try. Whoever shitty it is...
