My anger isn’t directed at Malec as a ship. They’re great. They brought so much needed representation to the show AND Freeform. I wanted them to have their happy ending. 

What I’m upset about is the fact that Kat McNamara, who grew so much as an actress, was literally written off her own show in the finale. She got less screen time than B and C level co-stars. Her storylines were rushed. 

I could live with an unsettling, unsatisfactory ending if Kat had been able to bring Clary’s Shadowhunter story to a true end. This wasn’t that.  Kat and Dom are fantastic and have so much chemistry. We could’ve seen so much from them, the lead roles, in this finale while also exploring all the plots for Sizzy, Malec, etc. 

As much as we love ships, they are not the basis of this universe or the story. Clary was the main character. Clary was the main character. Clary was the main character. Her storylines constantly furthered the plot of the entire show universe. They should have been the focus of this finale, because it’s not a finale for any one ship (or all the ships), it’s a finale for the Mortal Instruments television show.
