I heart sandwings :3
I decided to make sandwings a little bit more spiky, kind of channeling the bearded dragon in the spiky bits. For the body and claws, it’s a desert cat! They have biggg paw like talons so that they can walk on sand (snowshoes but warm), and I made them have big ears because 1. Fennec fox 2. heat dissipation, which is the same reason for the sails
I think color wise they’d have lighter backs and darker legs, to absorb warmth at night and reflect the sun during the day.
Also short broad wings to facilitate low energy soaring :)

hello! I decided to start making wof tribe bases! First up: nightwing!

Free to use!
ramblings and inspiration below the cut :)
ok now that the normal people are gone I’m just gonna ramble about this guy!! So honestly when I look at nightwings I get not many “animal” characteristics (at least in my silly not really canon view) like. mudwings are crocodiles, seawings are fish/sharks/marine mammals, rainwings are chameleons, so on and so on, really all I get from canon nightwings is bats, which. idk I gave them nice big ears and kept a classic bat wing shape, and for the rest just kinda. made it more classic dragon I guess
other than that, I got some inspiration for scales and whatnot from the dracopedia series, and decided to make the nightwings very heavily armored, kinda like spiky mudwings lol. the spikiness levels are closer to an icewing but fight me I like spiky guys

It’s seawing Saturday Monday !!!
I decided to give them like. Funky lures instead of the weird flesh barbels, partly because it looks cool and partly because it would probably have more of a function like an anglerfish
I made their head a little bulkier just as a way to better distinguish the silhouette, as in the canon art their snout is kinda shaped like a lot of the other dragons, in addition this design looks more hydrodynamic or whatever yippee
small legs and big tail!!! I feel like sea wings would be comparatively small to the other tribes, as the adaptations to be a successful aquatic predator (swimming fast, cold resistance, etc.) are kind of counter to the ability to fly, as a large tail and blubber are not exactly ideal for flight, but at smaller sizes would be less so, this is all just random thoughts but whatever!!
alright see yall in who knows how long with the next one
