Assuming it really is Uta, and since we know Uta can make clones, I’d say it’s reasonable to assume that his body is still stuck in that thing and that the Uta we see walking around is just a clone?

I have no clue how that would have even happened in the first place, though. Clearly Kaneki transforming was planned by Furuta and Kanou, and if the underground naagaraji was just a test run, I don’t really see why the original OEK would have complied with it.
