I’ve just made this blog and I wish I had a huge platform so I could share this widely!! Les Misérables fandom, there is a professor called Briana Lewis who has put together a Les Mis reading companion, analysing the book (in French and in translation) in 60 (!!) 30-40 min podcasts, plus a separate series for commentary on the 2012 film. She breaks down contextual info, cultural references, provides ways into interpreting the text, and it is WONDERFUL. She’s a fan of the musical and the 2012 film so there’s no academic snobbery just fabulous, curiosity-satisfying analysis.
If you’re an absolute nerd like me, and 1400 pages of the novel itself isn’t sufficient, you can check it out here: https://readlesmis.libsyn.com/

You could not see his forehead, which disappeared under his hat; you could not see his eyes, which were lost under his brows; you could not see his chin buried in his cravat …
