Hello! I hope this isn’t too much to ask but...How do you draw wolf muzzles? I’ve been having a hard time with them ^^’

hiya! well it depends of what type of Sega wolf you want to draw.. we have 3 types of Sega wolves

the sega Sonic type is based on the game’s source of Wolves design.. such as Fockewulf the wolf from Tails skypatrol and Sonic’s werehog form on Sonic Unleashed, which is Sonic the hedgehog becoming half wolf (werehog do howls like a wolf in some winning animations and the name werehog is clearly a reference to the werewolf XD) due to dark GAIA energy inside him.. then on Sonic Forces SEGA decided to use Werehog’s muzzle for the wolf character.. i supose is a reference to that and a design choice but it is a thing..

the archie Sonic type is the most traditional one and the one that tries to emulate the actual animal the most…

well here’s some other wolves as examples….i know.. Wolfy looks nothing like a wolf, i actually though he was a fox until i knew his name.. but i appreciate the diversity of shapes in this show XD he’s a bit fatty that’s why his cheeks are larger and  then we have Sleet who is like a way more goofy and bizarre version of Fockewulf but that’s cool because it still looks very unique..although here in this image i made him look a bit more sega-ish because you know he didn’t look much like a Sonic character in the original…. ^_^;

so depending on which one you want to draw.. here’s the thing:

3) is if you want to go with Archie Sonic style and of course add the nose you like on any of these XD

How about just a general body thing? I always seem to struggle with sonic legs connecting to waists for some reason

hi! umm.. well i often draw the chest first, after i drew the head of course, then i draw a line that starts from the chest and/or back for the legs, then i draw a separation as the crotch, sometimes i also draw that first before the legs but anyways..

this also can help, like if Sonic was a manikin… so the pelvis(on green) would look like he’s wearing some sort of underpants.. that way is more easy to connect the waist with chest and legs with his hip

Hey drawloverlala can you ex-lain like how shoes and clothes work? (It's hard to draw clothes and shoes without them looking funny)

hiya! sorry very sorry for the huge delay on answering this..

well in any clothes you draw for Sonic characters you should add some wrinkles on them, not excessive amount of wrinkles, Sonic’s style is not that detailed… and just in spaces where it will be needed like on an armpit, the waist, the elbow

:D ok! i’ve updated the Sonic character anatomy, this is basic though but i really hope is easy to understand (because i’ think i’m not good enough explaining things with words lol) and it results useful to anyone who might need it ^_^  

just some other tips to improve:

try drawing comics! on comics you have to try new poses, angles and expressions.. is reaally helpful to improve your drawing skills!

look at official art for reference

listen to cool music! XD it always helps to get inspired hehe

Lala, crees que puedas dar tips en como dibujar emociones con Shadow ? Porque sus ojos en forma de M hacen la vida imposible de poder ser flexible en mostrar otra cosa que ser gruñón xD

hola! bueno.. aquí hice un ejemplo de como variar la expresion de Shadow..

es solo como un Sonic pero la forma es menos redonda en las esquinas para incluir esa manchita roja que tiene (no se si me estoy explicando bien ^<^U perdón)

como dato extra en A, B y C, hice unas rayitas al lado de sus ojos, como para acentuar la emocion de sorpresa o impacto, tal y como en A, hice unas rayitas extra cerca de su nariz y su frente (cejas?) para acentuar la expresion de ira…

well when i draw Amy’s quills, i usually start with the one that’s on her hceek, (number 1) because is next to her eye, then following the head’s circle i draw the one she has in the back of her head(2), and lastly the middle one (3)

with Silver i start for the forehead’s quills, first the one that’s on his eyebrow and then i proceed with the others ones (from 1 to 5 in order) and after that’s done i draw the last 2 quills; the largers ones on his head (6) they are just like Sonic’s but larger

well i don’t really have much else to explain i guess.. just  that Silver has a sort of mohawk cut between his two larger quills and his forehead quills go down when he’s tired (needs rings)
