Arthion Perros ❖ 28 ❖ Elf ❖ Drug Dealer ❖ Living in Abdera (temporarily) ❖ FC: Nicholas Hoult ❖ OPEN

- UTP
Biography:
Arthion Perros had a relatively normal childhood. He was born to a pair of middle-class parents who had money, but not an absolute fortune. When he was very young, his father died and within a year his mother had met and married her second husband, Alastair Perros, a member of the prestigious and wealthy Perros family. At first things went well. His step-father treated both Arthion and his mother like royalty and they wanted for nothing. His mother gave birth to his half-sister, Natalia, and the four of them became one happy family. But then Arthion’s mother realised that her husband was using his wealth to make her a kept woman. He loved her and allowed her to buy whatever she wanted for herself, but she had to approach him first and request the money. She had always been an independent woman and so the realisation that none of her husband’s wealth actually belonged to her infuriated his mother. She decided that she wanted to earn her own money so that she was not completely reliant upon her husband and she enlisted her son to help.
Whilst reading some old history books in the library, his mother had come across a potion. It had been created centuries ago and had hallucinogenic properties. Whoever drank the potion would see a vision of what their heart truly desired and the vision would be so realistic that they would feel as though they were actually there and it was happening to them. But the popularity of the potion led to it being abused; people had become addicted to living their heart’s desire and would take the drug in huge doses so that they never had to leave their fantasy world. Unfortunately, this led to people becoming comatose and when the potion eventually wore off, it had numbed their body so much that they could not move. Abuse of the potion caused comas and paralysis that there was no cure for, and people’s organs started to shut down one by one until they died. It was a horrible way to die, and because people found it so hard to resist taking more and more of the potion to make their visions last longer, it was banned. Every book that contained the recipe was burned, every workshop that manufactured it was burned to the ground and anyone who continued to brew it was imprisoned for life. Eventually, there was no one left who remembered how to brew the potion and it was forgotten about. But according to the book his mother read, there was one book left in existence that contained the original recipe for the potion and it was kept in the restricted section of the Royal Library of Abdera.
His mother instructed Arthion to hide his ears and disguise himself as a human in order to steal the recipe. The restricted section only had one guard, and when Arthion realised that Edmund Drayton was homosexual, he set in motion his plan to seduce the guard. But the man was not as easy to seduce as he had first thought. He had originally intended to bed him and then steal the key to the restricted section as he slept, but Edmund was a man of honour and principle, and whilst he was open to small gestures of affection, he refused to go to bed with Arthion unless they were wed. Arthion was forced to play the long game and had to pretend that he was falling in love with Edmund so he could win him over. It was a whirlwind romance as Edmund believed that he had found true love, but Arthion just wanted to win his trust so that he would be allowed access to the restricted section. When Edmund proposed, Arthion was taken aback. They hadn’t been a couple for very long and he didn’t even really love him, but he was forced to say yes in order to make Edmund believe that he was trustworthy. And yet despite them being engaged, he still refused to grant her access to the restricted section. Arthion was starting to panic and thought that he might actually have to marry Edmund, when the night before their wedding, he handed him the key that unlocked the door to the restricted section of the library. Edmund told him that he knew how much he wanted to read some of the oldest history books in Nysa and that this was his wedding gift to him. As long as he was careful with the books and didn’t tell anyone, it was fine for him to take a look and he waited outside whilst Arthion explored the restricted section. It didn’t take long for Arthion to hunt down the book he was after. He couldn’t steal it, but he flipped through the pages until he found the recipe he needed and then made two copies of it. Stashing the parchment in his pocket, he returned the book to the shelf and left the restricted section, giving the key to Edmund so that he could lock up. Edmund kissed his fiancé and promised to see him in the morning at their wedding, having no idea that this would be the last time he would see Arthion for years.
Arthion never showed up for their wedding and Edmund was left standing pitifully at the altar for three hours before he finally gave up. He went to the room at the boarding house he had been staying at to try and find him, but instead found a note addressed to him on Arthion’s pillow. The note apologised for leaving him at the altar, but said that he could not go through with the wedding and had returned home. If Edmund had any love left for him, then he would not come after him or try to contact him, and he would simply move on with his life. In one short note, Arthion broke Edmund’s heart. Arthion has not kept up with what his ex-fiancé has been doing all this time, because he knows that if he allows himself to care about his ex-fiancé then he would only dig himself into a hole that he couldn’t get out of. He had the recipe that he and his mother needed and that was the important thing; Edmund was just a casualty that had happened along the way. Now that they had the recipe, Arthion and his mother set to work gathering the ingredients they needed to brew the banned potion. It was much more complex than either of them had anticipated and once they had managed to gather all of the ingredients, it took hundreds of batches before they finally managed to brew the potion correctly. Now that they knew what to do, they took it in turns to brew and bottle the hallucinogenic potion and to subtly spread the word around. Once they had enough batches and prospective buyers, Arthion and his mother started to sell the banned potion for a huge profit. Over time, they were able to expand, and hired people to brew and sell the potion for them whilst they relaxed and raked in the profits. They kept their business a secret from his mother’s husband and his half-sister and claimed that the sudden amount of wealth was due to good investments and an inheritance that they had only just been able to claim. It has been eight years since Arthion and his mother first started their business and now their potion is being distributed throughout all of the kingdoms, with the exception of one. With the success going to his mother’s head, she is determined to get the drug onto the streets of the human kingdom, and has demanded Arthion go undercover there again to act as their distributor.
Connections:
Natalia Perros - Half-Sister. Arthion does not have much of a relationship with his half-sister. Although he loves her and would protect her from anyone who tried to harm her, they just aren’t that close. Arthion does not trust Natalia with his secrets because he knows that the daddy’s girl would immediately tell her father and then there would be hell to pay.
Edmund Drayton - Ex-Fiancé. Edmund thought that he had found true love in Arthion, but he was just using Edmund in order to get the recipe for the potion his mother wanted to produce. He feels guilty about leaving him so abruptly, but tries not to dwell on it because it will only make him start to question everything. Now that he is back in the capital city of Abdera, Arthion is terrified of running into his ex-fiancé.

Edmund Drayton ❖ 27 ❖ Warlock ❖ Tavern Owner ❖ Living in Abdera ❖ FC: Alfie Enoch ❖ OPEN
+ UTP
- UTP
Biography:
Edmund Drayton was always taught to strictly adhere to a code of honour. Left abandoned as a baby on the steps of a temple, Edmund was taken in and raised by the priests and priestesses of the temple. Although some would pity him for growing up without a family, Edmund considered all of the priests to be his family and he was quite content to be raised without one specific set of parents. But when his powers began to manifest and the priests realised that he was a warlock and not a human amongst them, they told the boy to hide his powers. They did not want to see him sent to Zagoré because of his species, as they had grown to love the boy as their own. He was essentially raised as part of the order until the king and his family paid a visit to the temple and noted the orphan boy’s strong sense of honour. King Wymond offered Edmund the chance to become a palace guard, and he jumped at the chance, leaving the very next day to join the other trainees in the guard’s barracks. After a lot of hard work, Edmund was personally selected by King Wymond himself to join the palace guard when a position became available, making him the youngest person to ever be given a guard job at only eighteen.
Edmund’s head was filled with ideas of honour and pride, and he took his job as a guard very seriously even though he was always on duty outside the restricted section of the library. As the newest guard, he was automatically given the easiest position. He was the sole keeper of the key to the restricted section and only those with the seal of approval from the king himself were to be given access, but people rarely tried to venture into the guarded section so his job was relatively easy, if somewhat boring. Guarding the restricted section was a rite of passage for the newest palace guard, and he would be promoted to a more interesting and challenging position when another new guard was given a job. Edmund was only a couple of weeks into guard duty when he met Arthion Perros, and the young man blew him away. When Arthion first approached him, Edmund was convinced that he was a young man trying to flirt his way into the restricted section of the library, but when he made no mention of the room behind him, he started to wonder if he was actually interested in him. Edmund knew that he wasn’t horrifying in the looks department, but he didn’t think that he was anything to write home about. Yet every day, Arthion returned and tried to talk him into going to bed with him. Although he was tempted, Haelan had a code of honour that he wanted to obey. Some of the other guards were content to sleep around but Haelan was not one of them and he made it clear to Arthion that he would not be jumping into bed with anyone unless he was married to them. He did not visit again for a couple of days and Edmund thought that he had driven him away, but then he returned. Arthion told him that he must like him more than he had thought because he was willing to attempt an actual relationship with him rather than the one night stands he was used to.
The two of them began a whirlwind romance and the naive eighteen year old Edmund believed that he had found his one true love and proposed to him after only two months of courtship. As they made preparations for their wedding, Edmund noticed how forlornly Arthion looked at the restricted section and how many nights he spent poring over old history books and he decided to give his fiancé a gift: the key to the restricted section for one night only. He waited outside and kept watch as he believed Arthion was engrossing himself in the restricted history books and when he came out and returned the key to him, he kissed his fiance and promised to see him in the morning for their wedding. But little did he know that Arthion would never show up. Edmund waited for his fiance at the altar for hours, his faith in him never wavering even as the guests started to leave and the decorations were packed up. It was only when he stood alone that Edmund decided to visit Arthion at the boarding house he was staying in to find out why he had missed their wedding. Instead of finding his fiancé, he found a note on his pillow that was addressed to him. The note apologised for leaving him but that he just wasn’t ready to marry so young and if he had any love left for him, then Edmund would not come after him and would simply move on with his life. The note was short, but it was enough to shatter Edmund’s entire world. He gave up his job as a palace guard because he couldn’t stand to spend any more time in the place where they had met and he started to spend all of his time in bed. For weeks he barely left his room, and when he finally ventured into the outside world again, it was to drink heavily and sleep with countless people. It seemed pointless to stick with his code of honour now that Arthion had left him and Edmund was convinced that no one would ever love him enough to marry him so what was the point in waiting? He spent months behaving this way and when his money ran out, he started to fight in the underground fighting dens of the city to earn gold for drinks. It was there that he was finally tracked won and Edmund was given the only connection to his birth family that he’d ever had.
Although they had given him up because they felt they were too young to start a family, his parents had regretted their decision later in life. His mother had passed away some years ago, and his father had left him everything in his will when he had died the previous month. They felt the need to leave their son something even though they had never truly known him, and among their assets was a tavern in Abdera. With both of his birth parents dead, the tavern was his only connection to them, and gave Edmund the opportunity for a fresh start. It took him a while to learn the ropes, but it kept him busy and working hard, and slowly Edmund’s heart began to heal. The pain Arthion had caused him would never truly go away, but now he could move on with his life and try to be happy. Although he owns the tavern, Edmund is not above mucking in to help with the work, and he genuinely enjoys bar-tending and being a shoulder for someone to cry on. He needed that when he was down, but had to pull himself out of his own funk when he inherited the family business, so to be a support for someone in need is what makes Edmund proud.
Connections:
Maximilian Corbray - Friend. When Max was visiting Abdera, the young lord broke down in Edmund’s tavern and confessed that he was homosexual but feared his family’s disapproval. Even though homosexuality is widely accepted in Nysa, Edmund knows that there are some against it. Still, he encouraged Max to be honest with his family instead of living a lie, and the two of them have remained friends even though Max has returned to Vaasos.
Arthion Perros - Ex-Fiancé. He thought that he had found true love in Arthion, but he was just using him in order to get the recipe for the potion his mother wanted to produce. Edmund never worked out that Arthion had stolen the recipe from the restricted section, and he has spent years believing that he abandoned him because he wasn’t ready for a commitment.

Task 02 - Headcanons
Let’s develop both characters and the world they live in a little more! For this task, you need to come up with three headcanons (although you can do as many as you like if you have more) about the following:
The kingdom your character lives in (the weather, the natural features, the food, whatever you want to write a headcanon about)
Your character’s family
Your character’s biggest regret
Any of the kingdom headcanons that I think are suitable to become canon will be added to the locations page!
Please tag your task posts with tsktask02

I’m rolling out a new feature for members only: The Suggestion Box!
Because I want to make this roleplay the best place for your characters and plots, the suggestion box will be a blog that only members will have the link to. Its purpose is to give you a platform for you to submit any ideas you have for the roleplay. This can be anything you want to see. Here are some suggestions:
Faceclaims you want to see
Character ideas
Event ideas
Task Ideas
Plot drop ideas
Any other idea you might have
Anonymous questions will be allowed, and although I do not believe that any member would do such a thing, I have to say that no anonymous hate will be allowed. Any anon hate directed towards myself or other members of the group will be immediately deleted.
The Suggestion Box is a place for ideas, and not somewhere to air your grievances. If you have a problem, I am happy to discuss it with you privately off-anon and will do my best to resolve the issue. Trust me, I will not judge or punish you for making a complaint.
All that being said, please like this post if you would like a link to The Suggestion Box once the blog is up and running!
