sorry for the doti posting ive been unfortunately thinking about it too much lately. anyways so they just had karnak kill maximus and then had bb kill triton and did absolutely nothing with that huh.

ok so i got this comic collection of a bunch of the beginning inhumans appearances for my birthday and i HAVE to yell about it at least a little bit

so i have never been a fan of medusa getting with johnny (or gorgon for that matter but thats not the point) and rereading some of these early comics just reinforces me,,, disliking that decision even more! but also, kind of love how weird and mean triton is here.

speaking of triton, HES SO FISH!! webbed feet and hands!! visible scales and fins!!! claws!!! although i def love his uncanny and onwards appearance the most, this very beginning look is definitely up there, too. the more fish he looks, the better.

totally thought the thumping footsteps. paired w triton's pose, was meant to represent triton flopping around the ground for a moment. im pretty sure thats not whats happening here though.

i didnt frame this one very good my bad. so this isnt exactly maximus *not* trying to kill his family, but considering he doesn't seem to really care about actively hunting any but bb (and even that he does a pretty lousy job at), i do think he's telling the truth here about not wanting to hurt any inhumans. and i dont remember him usually targeting anybody besides bb post this either? obviously there are execptions.... but he seems to typically prefer to simply kick his family out. i think maximus just actually, geniunely believes he's doing what is best for attilan here, as opposed to him *only* wanting to become king. inch resting,,,,,,

i love maximus' pose here. also aaahhhhh i really like how even as he's the Bad Guy here, his motives (even in the 60s!) are less "generically evil" than i was expecting.

did maximus just like,,, emphasize accident while lying, making it incredibly obvious that he's lying. god i love him.

black bolt looks so angy here. god i love him too. (also the implication that inhumans... are more immune to vibrations than humans ?)

,,,hm. medusa isnt going to be very happy in (give or take) 50 years,,,,

i am a STRONG believer that 95% of the time black bolt's mouth is "covered" he could totally still use the voice power. like random scrap metal and covering his mouth with a HAND isnt going to actually stop that. he's just too socially anxious to not see how it goes

On this date in 2000, Inhumans #1 by Carlos Pacheco, Rafael Marin and Jose Ladronn kicked off a new miniseries that launched the Inhumans into the stars and brought them into contact with the Kree and Ronan the Accuser!

so i found out about bizzare adventures and how triton has a mini-comic in bizzare adventures #28 and so OBVIOUSLY i had to go read bizzare adventures for this, like, 6 pages of triton. and now i HAVE to talk about how triton was in a comic for like three entire minutes in the 80s.

considering how little triton gets personality-wise, i really like that this opens with actual triton lore!! "seeker by nature" !!! how he wishes others could see the ocean like he does!!

now that i think about it, im kind of surprised triton hasnt been used for anti-pollution messaging more often? or like, ever, afaik, other than this? and even here, it very quickly stops being about the oil spill that nearly kills triton. i know namor comics deal w that kind of thing (on occasion? often? no idea i have. never read a namor comic 😳) but i think this is also very much a triton avenue. esp since inhumans already cant breathe the standard air on earth, i def think you could make a good triton comic out of how humans are destroying the planet (sorry this post got darker than i intended we're moving on now)

i really love how triton looks in this!! it's not *that* different from his usual green-man design, and it could very much just be an art style, but im a big big fan of Fish Triton. his uncanny appearance is like my favorite ever. i want him to look as fish like as possible!! but this does a really good job at keeping that original green guy look while also still keeping the amphibian parts very noticeable. its mostly the face. i love his face!!!

i love this description of him. i feel there's never any acknowledgement of how strong triton is (which tbf i kind of forget a lot too) but also,,, yeah he can just totally hang out in the ocean. id love to know if theres a limit to how deep he can go. triton could make a mad living off of cave diving and scuba guiding. and salvaging ship wrecks!! the amount of trinkets this guy could just go sell off. im getting distracted. I LOVE TRITON.

have i mentioned that i adore how he looks here? i love how he looks!! maybe its the pointy ears. its a good look for him!

i keep trying to figure out the ages of the main family members and then remembering ohhh right none of this matters because of the timescale. these ages will be inaccurate in like six months.
