To the people who see my blog every so often and reblog my newsies guide. I know there is a typo (but do not question my knowledge of 1992 Newsies. Newsies has been my special interest for 20 years before I even knew tumblr existed and used the website newsiesfreak.com for information and pictures). I made the post in 2017 it is now 2024 (it’s been 7 years) cut me a break nothing like it existed at the time I was a tired law student who was doing it to relax I never meant for it to get traction as I am a fucking RP blog.

ooc: just saw a clip of west endsies during KONY and everyone was saying is this hadestown or newsies... and im like that’s inspired by kenny’s choreography but even more so Dominic Lucero’s spin on the fan at the end (that they altered the set for his idea and move so technically dominic’s choreo) lets give some respect to 92sies please. the whole reason why the number became a tap dancing number is because of the hot second of tap dancing on the tables done by race at the beginning and some of the boys at the end and the sole reason it was done was because max casella loved tap dancing.

Ooc: on mobile (this blog is just hot takes now) when you feel like you’ve written the fic people want in terms of delancey brothers redemption but no one reads it so no one knows it’s been written and claim they want it written and want to read it.

Granted my fic does not address the Sarah issue but it could I can edit shit. I probably should do that anyways.

Love being called part of a problem of softening up the d’élan y’a because I wrote a fic that while focusing on Morris angst did not stray from him being violent just like his brother…

I only thought it cause I have very low self esteem and extreme anxiety around vague posts. Not to mention my fic has five comments from four people (not including my replies) it may be new but it’s not popular so that compounds into those feelings

Sorry I’m part of a problem. Maybe I should have never tried to enjoy broadway’s newsies and stuck with the 92 portrayals

And yes this is vague but the posts can be found in Morris’ tag that I am referring to.

Ooc: on mobile

Me: *writes a 30k plus word fic* this is good. I still kept the delanceys mean even with a fic centered on showing them more as human and not just as goons. I didn’t have either of them explicitly forgiven by the boys and I don’t let their behavior change too much… it does focus on Morris more though in terms of angst and beating up on him…

Me: *sees post on tumblr to say stop making Morris an uwu baby and treat the brothers the same, with their tags specifically calling out Mike’s version of Morris* this was directed to me I know it.

Added nearly 15k words in this last chapter. But my ill advised newsies fic focusing on Mike Faist’s portrayal or Morris is up and finished. I had the idea, it wouldn’t leave, and now its out there for the world to see.

also be proud of me i actually fucking finished a mutli chapter fic, i feel like i deserve an award cause i never do that lol

i know i know i have hot takes and a love hate relationship with the broadway show but i haven’t written this much for a fic in years (and i’ll likely finish it, so go gobble it up cause this is a rarity from me in terms of writing)

denton: a war reporter who can loose his whole livelyhood reporitng on the underdogs cause he thinks its interesting and supports the boys to the point of paying their fines so they dont go to jail, keeps the idea of the strike on the working boys and kids of new york

katherine: belittles the idea (til she decides that they have something) and those behind it but has nothing to loose cause she is a rich heiress she makes the idea of the strike from the working class against the elites to a fight between adults and kids that she doesn’t have stakes in

sorry i just cannot get behind her character.... like i love the actresses who play her, i think she has a good attitude and potential but giving her an “i want” song makes the story about katherine rather than the newsies... just saying

ooc: quite literally saw someone do a casting of newsies as “if it was a hollywood movie” on instagram

which another someone pointed out that this was done (cause it was)

and the poster was like im basing it off the musical not the 90s version

THE 90s VERSION IS A MUSICAL!

but even more importantly, know your history of the movie, and the show if you want to talk as if you have all the facts and know things. If you are going to come off as a know it all, at least know it all. The 90s newsies started out as a drama, not a musical that is the reason christian bale was cast he was literally coming off a huge hit Empire of the Sun, that is the reason you have huge names in it like Robert Duval, Bill Pullman, and Ann Margaret. They were cast for a drama before Kenny changed it to a musical.

so yes a hollywood blockbuster cast was already given to newsies in the 90s then it was changed to a musical. because folks the 90s version is a musical do not forget that.

ooc: so im watching theater tic tok compialiations and the amount of people that only like musicals made post hamilton is A astonishing, but even more importantly calling Newsies a “modern musical” is kind of baffling to me since the musical was actually written in 1991-92. Like I know it came to broadway recently but its not a new musical and TBH if I ever made a tik tok i would piss off the theater kids with my hot takes on newsies.
