Seungwoo had on a beanie that was clearly too big for his head, needing to cover every single strand of hair underneath. For this comeback, his stylists insisted that the black wouldn’t work. He practically begged to be one of the boys who were allowed to have a dark brown color for hair, but he was shot down and made to get his hair in a pink. Fuck, he hated it for all the reasons. The one most annoying him right now is that it was a neon sign saying ‘King from Impulse is here!’ when all he wanted right now was to be invisible. So, he had on a too big beanie that sometimes covered his eyes, and a face mask to keep him as anonymous as possible.

Jaehyun seemed cool, which was why Seungwoo had agreed to coming to this concert with him. Honestly, these were his little bits of joy he still had, going in disguise to actual good concerts with music with a bit of a harsher tone. He liked listening to music that sounded similar to how Impulse used to. He shrugged at the explanation, not honestly caring about who it was; he was excited to hear some new things.

At the question, he sighed. “Not very often,” he admitted. “Especially not around comeback time, but I try to sneak one in at least once every few months.” He intentionally didn’t add that it was the only way for him to remain somewhat sane when the comeback sucked.

the tiny venue is packed, the crowd buzzing with excitement for the first act to come on stage. jaehyun is just as excited, practically jumping in place as he waits in anticipation. the music doesn’t even need to be good, jaehyun just enjoys the warm atmosphere of being in a crowd where no one is paying attention to him. he wasn’t alone though, which was quite unusual for the man who did almost everything by himself. he turns to seungwoo, “i didn’t look too much into the lineup if i’m honest, but everyone seems hyped enough for it, so i assume whoever is coming on is gonna be great.” 

it’s probably the longest sentence jaehyun has said out loud to seungwoo, but he’s feeling way more relaxed now that he’s in his happy place. the older man was someone that jaehyun had been interested in getting to know for a while, getting the feeling that the two of them shared pretty similar tastes in music. 

jaehyun adjusts his face mask, hoping that paired with the low lighting, he would be invisible to people who would otherwise recognize him from the few songs he’d released. with seungwoo along, it’s even more important that they’re hidden from view. jaehyun was pretty confident that most of the people in this venue didn’t give a shit about a couple of kpop idols though, especially since he was one of those people despite having been signed for over a year now. “how often do you get the chance to go out like this?” he asks, curious what the busy idol’s life has been like post-fame. Jaein just needed someplace away from the crowds. She had expected this when she chose to audition for a pop company instead of hip-hop, but how suffocating it was going to be baffled her. She was always shy and a loner. Sharing her dorm with five other members was fine since there was always alone time. If she needed anything, she could hide away into the studios and work on demo tracks the company would deny.

The roof was a place of solace. A place to breathe without anyone watching her and a place to think. Looking up at the sky always had her feel as if her mother was there. While she was too young to remember her, she could at least envision her looking down and proud. Maybe talking to mom would help out and clear her head, she thought, as she moved herself towards the stairs to the roof. It could remind her why she wanted to become a performer, why she loved music. Jaein pushed her way in and walked up the stairs. Already, she could feel her heartrate calm. 

As she pushed in the door, her brow folded at the figure she spotting. With a small huff, she made her way towards them and passed them to get to the railing overlooking the edge of the roof. “Needed some personal space, too?” Jaein asked with her eyes firmly on the sky.

It took Seungwoo a second to remember Jaein’s name, and he felt awful about that. He never tried to be an asshole who forgot names, but it was hard when he was introduced to so many people, idols and non-idols alike. Still, she was actually his bias in FEMME, so the fact that he forgot for a second showed just how shit of a memory for names Seungwoo had.

They had barely spoken, but Seungwoo did think she was pretty cool from their little interactions. He nodded, relaxing as he let it sink in that she wasn’t a manager catching him. He nodded, leaning back to his relaxing position. “Yeah, just... was a little much, you know?” he explained vaguely, not about to admit his biggest secret to a practical stranger.

Seungwoo hated this latest comeback.

He was putting on a happy face, like he always did, when his members showed enthusiasm for the track and the concept. He honestly was considering giving acting a shot since he had gotten so much practice at lying to people. But he was doing his best, smiling and singing to the best of his ability in the booth to the smiling faces of his members. He got through all of his parts in only one or two takes, earning some “You go, King!”s from his friends, but he couldn’t feel the compliments hit. The song was so... empty, so hollow that no matter how well he performed it, it wouldn’t feel good.

He excused himself to go to the bathroom, but he really just needed a break. He snuck his way up to the roof and sighed contentedly as the fresh air hit his lungs. He laid down on the ground and closed his eyes, figuring he could take five minutes of solitude before anyone wondered why he was gone so long. He had the faintest hint of a smile on his face as he simply enjoyed the silence before his eyes shot open at the sound of the door opening behind him.

had a strong dance background when he became a trainee so started working harder to improve his vocals, did very well at everything and earned the nickname “King” from his friends, which he loved so much he used it as his stage name when they debuted

when impulse first debuted and for a few years, he was considered the “bad boy” of the group. The boy you’d love but would be scared to have him meet ur parents.

he loved that image and the music they were doing since he loved hip hop and rock and harsher sounds

now he feels like he’s a sham, doing songs he doesn't believe in and some songs he actively hates

but he tries to never let Pulse see how unhappy he is with where Impulse was going. He truly appreciates them, and doesn’t want to hurt their feelings which is why he tries not to let his annoyance and frustration and disappointment show.

he’s always been a nice guy, if not a little guarded, but recently, new Pulse have come about and started calling him the “softest baby” because of his appearances in the recent MVs.

He hates it

Like he doesnt mind being thought of as nice, but he is not soft. He wants to fight against that part of the fandom views, but managers have told him to just go along with it because it would “tarnish his image”

very good at hiding his feelings about anything. Like even romantically you won’t know he has a crush on you until he asks you out

hes the member that cant keep his fucking tongue in his mouth

VERY competitive when it comes to games and such

kind of a tough shell to crack, but once you earn his trust, you have it until you break it, then its lost forever

hes very quietly looking into solo opportunities because he misses the Danger and No More Dream days, but feels like he can’t tell anyone because if that shit got out, all hell would break loose

he also feels incredibly disrespected as a vocalist for the amount of autotune they put on his voice. He HATES it so much and has asked constantly about why theres so much on him and not as much on others and they never give him a staight answer
