i lovingly make fun of kismet for being so ridden with anxiety and an extreme over-thinker but also it absolutely baffles me about how much he does despite that. he's scared and terrified and usually overreacts to a lot of things, it's overwhelming and so fucking terrifying to him, but he almost always does something about it. it's that one quote about doing it scared. if it's something that needs to be done, if it's something that's terrifying and perhaps a bit risky and something that no one should do but it needs to be done, he'll do it.

made myself think a little bit about how genuinely touchstarved kismet is and it makes me sad :( he was always particular about showing bodily affection before, and it's really not one of his love languages, but it was the love language of the people he did love. and while kismet usually didn't initiate touch, he experienced it, and he never minded it when it was from His people.

and like. god. he misses them terribly. there's a giant vacuum of the spot they used to possess, and a lot of times KISMET still finds himself bending to old routines and habits that he followed through with them... and god. he misses them, and he misses their touch :(

one of the downfalls of the HIVEMIND and how they operate is that its primarily an independent organization - you do your own thing, unless you truly want to work with other people, but that's on your turf to set up and moderate. kismet hasn't connected with anyone from there, and he's so alone in his day-to-day

i've been talking about KISMET a lot with siri recently and its made his muse stir in my brain again... so i'm gonna see if i can dedicate some time to truly getting this blog going :P first course of action is probably to work on my worldbuilding so i'll probably be doing some additional work on my carrd + doing some headcanon posts!

i have figured out the hard way that kismet is my muse that activates a lot during the academic year, not the time i have off SO im hoping to return and fully get him rolling in august. till then pls find me on my boy @crowshoots (who is DEF a summer muse) and also on @curseyeds

just thinking about the fact that kismet very much had someone he was in love with, and was in love with for a very long time, and she was his best friend, and he was never going to say anything, and now he's never going to get the chance to say anything

thinking about that one post about the 'explain physics as if you're in love with me' '..... everything sings' and about kismet and about how the world keeps moving, and the world keeps turning, and everything continues to work and live even if things are wrong and messy, and it is okay and there are things to love and things that are singing and sometimes you just have to listen. life is matter. you are matter and you matter and the world will move in natural cycles and it will sing. life is okay

every since i transified kismet ive been thinking abt it and kicking my feet... like it makes SO much sense. also man gets to readjust and reform his entire body like giving him certain facets that give him more gender euphoria ie broadening his shoulders. hope he's having a lovely time with said fact

the HIVEMIND is the particular company/group of people that KISMET is now affiliated with. they're not exactly known as that to anyone outside of them, for people are generally unaware that they exist, but the HIVEMIND is more of a collective club than it is an actual company with a hierarchy.

all members of the HIVEMIND cannot die within the boundaries of new york city. their souls are not compatible with new york city and cannot be absorbed. as a result, if they died, their body would be absorbed, but not their soul, and they would be left constantly drifting as a ghost. as a result, most HIVEMIND members find each other - they rescue them before the city takes their body and leaves their soul aimless.

all of them have the same goal: help new york city. how they do their jobs varies from person to person - some of them deal with the ghosts in the city. others deal with the monsters that negativity and ill feelings breed. a few of them attempt to work on abandoned places and reinvent them to the benefit of the city's citizens and the city itself. there's no particular order to it, especially considering the fact that they don't... really get together in a workplace and sort out what needs to be done, but.

some other tidbits:

they are all naturally drawn to the very center of the city. they always know which way the center is

although they can't die within the boundaries of new york city, they can age. as a result, some HIVEMINDs usually move out after they reach a certain age so they may die peacefully.

they each have a chip somewhere on their body that connects them to a larger network... it acts as a conduit. it allows them to know where the others are, as well as allows communication if one of them needs help

anonymity is not terribly important within the HIVEMIND, but people tend to prefer it depending on what their near-death experience was

some people always work in pods. other people only work solo. it really just depends on the person

KISMET's eyes are prosthetics! they're majorly hidden underneath his helmet, but if anyone ever saw him with his helmet off, they would notice that KISMET's eyes glow. they have an orange ring of LED lights built into them, plus several layers of machinery built in them. KISMET also has the capability to taking pictures due to camera implants into his eyes...

he used to have glasses, but his accident definitely fucked up any frames he got (he went back to the Carnage and retrieved a very messed up, melted old frame of his. it's the only physical thing he has from his old life). he also had some damage to his retina, but the prosthetics helped him deal with that.

his eyes are also no longer the same color anymore. they used to be more of a chestnut brown but now they're much closer to black.

one of the interesting things about KISMET's new york city is the approach to death. everyone who has lived, passed through, and died in new york has become apart of its soul. but it also means that dying within the bounds of new york city has changed.

when someone dies, the city tries to fully absorb their soul. however, physically, the body will become apart of its urban landscape. it takes a few hours for the body to truly start to blend in, but it will happen. the man who did your tile roofing now is a scatter of stones leading to his family's business. the house you live in has a design on the countertops that could be close enough to a pair of eyes, a nose, a mouth. had that tree been there before that man got shot in that park? they have become apart of the city.
