I know most people headcannon dazai as bisexual- and I get it, because he does flirt with a lot of women- but I honestly rlly love just completely gay dazai. No interest in women at all.

Bc if you think about it, 90% of the time he flirts with women, its to get something. Whether he literally has something he needs from them, like higuchi or the nurse, or if he's trying to get them to do a double suicide.

I think probably this would come from his mafia days- kouyo, or one of her girls, mentioning that he could have girls wrapped around his finger if only he was a little more charming. And he finds this interesting, so he goes out and people watches, and figures out that handsome men (and pretty women genderqueer dazai mention ansnsnsjdjdj) are more likely to get things they want, and be trusted. So he decides it is in his best interests to look as attractive as possible, and flirt with as many people as possible to get information.

I also think this would make him obsessive about his appearance, just a little. Like, I understand your 'mafia dazai is very depressed and lives in a shipping container so doesn't wash and smells bad' but I think dazai would obsessively find ways to shower, and make sure he smells like cologne, or perfume, make sure his hair is fluffy and light.

And I think this would carry over into him at the agency. Old habits die hard and all that. So he flirts a lot- but he started out only flirting with women because that's all he ever needed to do- and he thinks it's funny that his colleagues, especially kunikida, think he's an absoloute womaniser, despite having no attraction to them whatsoever. So he keeps up the charade.

The agency all do a double take the first time he flirts with a man. Obviously it's chuuya, and the agency are just witnessing their bickering, and dazai says something suggestive (or sweet, like in 15) and the entire agency is just like 'YOU LIKE MEN?' and dazais kinda like 'Yeah, I'm gay! I thought you guys knew!' And the agency is left soooo confused while soukoku fuck around and flirt angrily.

I think somewhere along the line, probably after storm bringer, chuuya would be a little bit scared of his ability. Not enough to stop using it in everyday use, but enough that he'd seek out dazai so he could stop feeling it.

But of course, that requires direct skin to skin contact.

And dazai is both touch starved and completely and utterly in love with chuuya.

So chuuya would just walk into dazais office, and sit in there holding his hand while he did paperwork, and dazai would be bright red and a stuttering mess and unable to concentrate on anything.

So I watched Kpop Demon Hunters and that stupid tiger is my son now. That is my child and I love him.

I love the idea of dazai being almost completely androgynous.

The idea that his shoulders are narrow, that he's skinny, that his voice is higher than you'd expect- high enough to possibly be female, making it gender neutral.

Particularly as a teenager, before he got so tall, the idea that people would mistake him for a girl. That they would comment on his pretty face, his delicate features, and then backtrack when he corrected them.

(I'm sorry I love the idea of dazai fucking with gender. This hc is so self indulgent to me and my wish to see dazai in dresses for missions in fanfics rather than chuuya.)
