It is absolutely fucking insane to me just how comfortable people in Canada seem to have gotten with casual racism.

People love to discuss how in the US there’s the issues with calls for deportation and calls to make immigration illegal etc. but no one seems to want to acknowledge Canadians hatred towards Indian immigrants.

There’s so many things happening with the rental and job markets that are taking advantage of this influx of immigrants and people are like “ugh it’s because those Indians think they can do whatever they want and they want to live like pigs and refuse to assimilate” like???? Why are we not blaming the employers who want to pay them less than minimum or the landlords who tell them they have to live with 6 girls to a bedroom for 600$ a month each? Why are we choosing to blame newcomers when instead we should be teaching them about their worker rights, or renters rights, or resources to help them better assimilate such as the free workshops so many provinces offer to help find jobs and teach English for free, or the resources required to better understand what to expect as a first time renter here?????

I just hate that people seem to be entirely blaming the wrong people. If you see an illegal renting situation then report it. If you see someone being mistreated at work then report it. If you see anyone doing something that they fucking shouldn’t be then report it to the right authorities. But stop telling people they’re not “real” Canadians because they immigrated here.
