((I’ve posted about it more than once before but again its so bizarre and uncomfortable sometimes. Being a general homestuck artist who’s also in the rpc, rping next to others, and then seeing friends art or your own art being used by said others for edited icons without credit anywhere, from your blogs that specifically say to credit or ask for permission at least.

Like, there’s at least 4 artists in the hs rpc who’s art have been used by fellow rpers without source despite their request for such (while reposters claim ownership over the edits of said stolen art funny enough) and it really spells out a special kind of ignorance))

hey fellas just a reminder that my main blog is toddnet and that i drew this

among other pieces of fanart that get used without credit on the hsrpc, and i’d like to remind everyone that it’s basic online courtesy to credit people’s art if you’re going to use it and you weren’t the one to commission the picture.

if you think the original artists aren’t going to see you repurposing our art as icons and promptly adding “don’t steal my icons uwu” do your rules page (as if you own the artwork under all of your fancy layer overlays, which you don’t) or whatever, consider we’re everywhere, and fanart artists have plenty of friends in the fandom you’re in that will, sooner or later, spot it.

just be considerate. i’m not pointing a gun to your head so you commission art of your muse, i’m asking for you to just make a tiny disclaimer in your navigation or ooc pages that credits the original artist. 

exposure isn’t worth anything without a link to the source. it doesn’t matter how popular the original artist is [clock-heart isn’t an exception to this!]. please just be respectful, otherwise you’re just pushing artists out of the community.
