What I've Got: Sandisk Extreme Pro
The Extreme pro can hold up to 64 GB of photos and/or video taken with things like a DSLR camera that i did a what I've got on before. The card is able to read and write information at 95mb/s. This is very helpful when trying to take multiple pictures at the same time. The card is a class 30 which makes it capable of shoot HD video. The extreme pro is also built for a traveling photographer. It can withstand extreme cold and hot, shockproof, waterproof, and x-ray proof. This will allow you to take it anywhere without worrying about the safety of you content. The come in a number of different sizes including 16, 32, 64, 128, 256, and 516.

Challenge 10: Self Charging
For Challenge 10, we were inspired by the question: “Why do cell phones not charge themselves?” It seems strange or barbaric that humans have to remember to charge their phones at night. After exploring multiple methods to charge phones, we choose to combine the design principles of a portable charger with solar panel energy capabilities.
After talking to a few energy companies in the Cambridge and Boston area inlcuding Tesla and Solar Cambridge we quickly discovered the limitation to solar panel phones: size and power. There are solar panels that are small enough to fit on the back of phones; however, companies only use one panel. This does not generate enough energy for the normal amount of consumption a smartphone requires
Your cell phone uses less energy than most people seem to believe. An Iphone battery holds a charge of 5.45 watt hours and if you use this much everyday for a year this is 2000 watt hours per year. The results in using less than a dollar in electricity per year. For a comparison a laptop uses around 8 dollars per year.
A large clunky solar panel is not desirable for the user; however. So we created a two-fold design intervention that maximizes energy use and minimizes aesthetic discomfort for the user.
Our design intervention:
We redesign the portable phone case to include not 1, but four solar panels on the phone. Two would unfold from the top of the case, like a book, and the other two would slide out the top and bottom.
In order to get a large boost of energy throughout the day; we have also invented small stations with medium sized solar panels that one can rest their phone on.

What I've Got: Samsung T1 External Hard Drive
The samsung T1 is one of the smallest and fastest external hard drives on the market right now. Unlike most external hard drives that T1 is a solid state drive (SSD). The SSD uses flash memory which has quicker write and read times.
This becomes increasingly important when you consider the people who are working off of their external hard drives. I am a photographer and when i shoot my photos are RAW. This is a uncompressed file that can often times result in a large file. When you couple this with the fact that a shoot can result in hundreds of photo your system can slow down quickly. This is why the T1 is my favorite hard drive. It is small enough for me to take anywhere but fast enough to handle the heavy workload.
The price to obtain and SSD is starting to drop which is decreasing the gap between an SSD and disk is smaller than ever before. In the next few years the SSD will begin to make the disk drive obsolete.

What I’ve Go: DJI Mavic Drone
Aerial photography has become a recent fascination of mine. I have been taking pictures since high school but the introduction of the drone makes aerial photography more accessible to the everyday photographer. The perspectives have always been there but now people are able to capture them.
The mavic is one drone of a larger set. It is one of the newest models that is a little more affordable than the others and also allows for portability. The Mavic has the ability to fold on itself making for easy transport while on the go. I would like to look into its ability to shoot aerial photos but also want to look into the the video capabilities as well. Here are some examples of some shots:

Challenge 8
Landscape architecture has a bunch of desirable products within but they often can be overlooked due to the scale of the project. This field is where i started my design thinking and i was curious about the way that landscape design can often go overlooked. The intent is to design in a way that relates to the environment while improving the user experience but often people like this without even noticing that "it" is there.
I see a translation of this to the product world but on a much smaller scale. Often people will like one bottle over another based on the shape without even noticing. One major difference is the amount of variety that is present in these markets. There is a large amount of desire for the product itself which shifts the scales.
When i looked at my what i got's i saw evidence of this. Some of them were based on utility and others on desire.

What I’ve got: Hydro Flask
The Hydro Flask water bottle is a great one to stay hydrated. The bottle was designed with a double wall which keeps hot liquid hot for 12 hours and cold liquid cold for 24 hours. These numbers may be a little exaggerated but the bottle still works extremely well. The double wall also stops the bottle from sweating when there is a cold substance inside. They carry a number of different models that host anything from coffee to water. These are also great on the move.

What I’ve Got: HEX DSLR Camera Backpack
I ran into this camera bag when going through Instagram one day. This bag is a great all around camera bag for photographers that need to travel a lot while taking their photos. The bag is made with cushioned straps and a cross latch to ensure security while hiking. The bag opens from both the back as well as the top. The back allows access to all of your equipment while the top is a quick access point to grab your camera. The bag also can be rearranged to fit the different types of gear that a photographer might have.

RADIUS News
Radius is an app that brings the most important news to the user based on the radius that they determine. This app uses as much or a little information that the user provides. It looks at where you live, work, play ect. and finds stories that are relevant to these areas. I will use your daily schedule to try and connect you with weather or events that might be happening around you. The home page is constantly updating based on the time, day or location that the user is currently in. The icons make the information easy to understand at a glance. The information that the app thinks is the most important to the users at the current moment will always be in red at the top of the home page. Users will always have a way to know what is going on in their daily radius. This app can also be useful for people in developing countries but their radius and needs would be completely different.
