"I..." he paused. "I know what you mean." Maybe after all he wasn't as lonely as he had thought surrounded by all the other mercs. Maybe they were just like him. It was both a horrifying and comforting thought.
"Do you feel like you're missing something?" As far as everyone around here went, she seemed the most well-adjusted. The most "normal".
While he couldn't remember much of his recent past, he knew he was missing something but as to what, he couldn't quite figure it out.
" Come to bed. It'll seem better in the morning."
Klaus shuffled through his papers with tired hands, trying to match the profile to the visitor. "I'm fine," he replied.
"Are you RED or BLU?" he asked, noticing her outfit didn't give away her team's affiliation. She wasn't showing up in the pile of paper.

Hey everyone, remember that being sick or healing from injuries is a hard time for your body. You have to eat a lot and lay still and be kind to yourself! [large neon sign that says HYPOCRITE descends from the ceiling and points at me] Hey what the heck what's this who put that there

It was clear Klaus didn't believe him, but he didn't say anything to voice that opinion. There wasn't much he could say since he had no idea what time was like before time existed. Instead, he just nodded in silence, but continued to scratch him.
"I see," he said, clearly not understanding. Nothing he said was possible, but then again he was talking to a dragon so he couldn't rely on his notions of what was possible at the moment.
"Do you...have a life expectancy?" he asked, though he doubted one existed if he so far lived this long.
"What is salmonella? Is it a fish?"
"Ah, no. No, it's a bacteria that can cause nausea and vomiting. It can be found in uncooked meats or eggs."

"Of course," Klaus replied, hesitating. Then it seemed now or never to change the subject.
"I was wondering if you knew anything about respawn and how it works," he said slowly. Everyone kept telling him to talk to an Engineer about his memory issues and here was one right in front of him. Maybe she could help. "Or more specifically, how to fix an error when one occurs."

Tessa squints at her registration papers for an engineer weapon load out, sitting in the workshop to better familiarize herself all the while chewing on some snacks. Her revolver had been an okay weapon to add as Tessa was not going to let her gun be left in a drawer somewhere. Although she will have to get to practicing with a shot gun for a secondary and swinging a heavy wrench around as a melee. There should be no problem.... Right? Groans. She better not have to worry about heavy recoil. That damn shoulder just barely finished healing before having joined BLU for work.

"I could say the same for you," Klaus replied, unsure if the Scout would even show up at all. It was a pleasant surprise in all honestly.
"Are you ready to learn?" he asked, remembering his offer. Klaus tried to hide his excitement - he had never (in his limited memory) had anyone interested in learning medicine and for him to be the teacher was an exciting moment.
Klaus cleared his throat, trying to act casual. "Was there anything you wanted to start with?" he asked.

"Funny seeing you again, didn't think you'd show up."
Angel quips, hand tucking into his pockets and appearing half ready to fall asleep. Been a rough weekend but that's a different matter on its own. Hold back a yawn, wondering if the doctor remembered their talk or not the last time they interacted.

Klaus was so used to the inherent danger of his own work he forgot the outside world could be a dangerous place. It made sense that she'd be safer here on the inside, especially as the cook.
"Do you like working here?" he asked. It sounded as though she didn't have a choice if she wanted to keep herself safe, but he hoped she at least liked the work.
So far, Klaus didn't like his position. Why he took the job here in the first place was a mystery to him that he couldn't remember. There must had been a good reason, though.

Down the hall and to the left was all he needed to make his getaway. If only he had some more space to make a run for it, but he wouldn't dare to try with the Soldier this close to him.
Part of him wanted to point in a random direction to cause a distraction. Maybe he'd try that if he grew more desperate but right now, he needed to buy time.
"Ah yes. I haven't answered the question. I apologise...what was it again?"
This is what he got for following his Heavy over to the RED side during battle. Things were going well until a Sniper took out the Heavy, leaving Klaus to retreat and fend for himself.
"I was just leaving," he said, trying to make a quick escape. It seemed he'd be leaving through respawn, but he'd rather walk out if it was possible. "Could..." he hesitated, unsure if this trick would even work. "Could you show me the way out?"

Klaus continued scratching.
It wasn't that Klaus hadn't been listening intently, it was that he just didn't understand. Surely it was an exaggeration that he predated men but he had no way of knowing for sure. As far as he knew there weren't any tests he could run that he had access to in his own medbay.
"How old are you?" he asked, a question he had overlooked before.
"What is salmonella? Is it a fish?"
"Ah, no. No, it's a bacteria that can cause nausea and vomiting. It can be found in uncooked meats or eggs."

Klaus nods. It took him a while to get used to his crossbow. Reloading it while on the run was particularly difficult. "I'm sure there's still an opportunity to leave," he adds in. "There must be plenty of jobs with your skillset."
Klaus tries to offer her a weak smile. It's not that he wants her to leave, but he isn't sure she'll want to stay in the job. It would likely be easier to get out sooner than later.

"I wanted to see how you were settling in," he replies, surprised she's even lasted this long. There is another reason why he has come by unannounced, but he plans on getting to that later.
"Are you having any issues with your registration papers?" he adds in. "I can imagine it can be difficult to get through." Not that he can remember from personal experience.

Klaus had browsed over her file and noticed his own handwriting in it. The date the respawn chip was added was all documented in his perfect handwriting, but he wanted to hear it from her.
When she explained the whole story, he nodded. "I'm glad I made the right decision," he said, knowing he'd make the same choice a second time. It was far too dangerous having staff around that weren't hooked up to respawn.
"If I may," he requested, "why have you stayed here? This can't be an easy place to work. Wouldn't there be a restaurant nearby you could work in?"
" Come to bed. It'll seem better in the morning."

"I've heard about the splices," Klaus replied, though he couldn't recall ever meeting one. It sounded like a terrible fate to deal with, but he supposed it was a workplace hazard.
"Are..." he hesitated. "Are you a splice?" Certainly shapeshifter came to mind, but he couldn't think what could account for his human appearance.
Klaus decided to make himself useful and scratch the itch Rasturn was after, hoping his fingers could do the job.
"What is salmonella? Is it a fish?"
"Ah, no. No, it's a bacteria that can cause nausea and vomiting. It can be found in uncooked meats or eggs."

"Give me Three good reasons why I shouldn't shoot you right where you stand!" the order is barked, as always with the Soldier. He Holds up two fingers as he talks, as if showing the good doctor just how serious he is about the number he gave.
He's in Klaus' personal space, and with a scowl plastered on his features, he continues speaking"You are on RED blooded American soil, son, and I'll be damned if you start any funny business!"

Klaus doesn't normally visit his teammates or patients, but he feels this is an exception. The visit isn't completely a social one, though he doesn't feel the need to tell her that right away.
The Medic gently knocks on the door to her workshop, not wanting to startle her. "How are you settling in?" he asks.

Klaus nodded. "Yes. Tell me how we met," he replied. Even if it didn't trigger any memories, it would at least put her in a greater context of how she fit in with his life. Remembering things on his own would be easier, but this was a close second.
Klaus pulled up a chair for himself and for Alex assuming they would be there for a while as she went back to how they met. "If you have the time," he added in. Klaus felt like he had all the time to listen, but he still wanted to be respectful of hers.
" Come to bed. It'll seem better in the morning."

"The mutation rate?" he repeated. Of course these things would have to be tested. It wasn't the testing that had him overly concerned at the moment. "The mutation rate is low now as is, isn't it?"
After all the times of going through respawn, he wondered if it was doing harm this whole time. If this was the case, he wouldn't release it to the public, but then again no medical procedure didn't come without risks.
"What is salmonella? Is it a fish?"
"Ah, no. No, it's a bacteria that can cause nausea and vomiting. It can be found in uncooked meats or eggs."

"Hardly," Klaus said with a grin. It was all sounding so daunting and out of his depth, but he also was in the mood for a challenge. Working with the medigun day in and day out was already getting boring for him. All this talk of silver and computers was confusing, but he had gone through medical school - he could take this on as well.
"I'm looking forward to what we accomplish," he added in. Truly, he was. Together they would pioneer new technology the world had never seen before and safe countless lives. That was far better than whatever useless work he was currently doing.
