I don’t think I could add more of this bc your analysis was just PERFECT, that’s exactly what I love about Starbee, they both can get rid of that facade or at least the facade the people had given to them over the years and years of war.

IDW did such an amazing work to put these character together although at a superficial level they’re the complete opposite, but once they start to work together you realize “Oh damn, they’re actually very similar”

The perfect golden boy (who deep down he’s also an ass and can be mean) x The schemer who will backstab you (but deep down cares way too much, more than he can admit or bare) they make the perfect pair

Hello fellow Starbee shipper ✨ This is um.. embarrassing to admit but I uh.. I relate to Starscream a ton... and I think that's why I like Starbee so much cuz it's nice to see Starscream have just- someone he's (at first) forced to interact with and be open with. I really like that Bumblebee sees the best in all people, and more or less is good at grounding (haha) Starscream. Between the canon and the fanon, I see Starscream finally getting someone to lean on emotionally-- but that's my problem (sorry I take forever to get to the point)- I'm unsure if this is super reciprocated? I see so much fanfiction of Bumblebee being a good support to Starscream, and I love it, but it feels a little one sided- and that might be just because I love Starscream and focus more on him but I really want the ship to be mutually beneficial! Bumblebee deserves support too- I'm just unsure of how that would work and I really wanted to hear your take on it.

To preface this, I have to admit I'm not the most eloquent person so my explanation may be a bit lacking. Sorry! I'm also someone who ships starbee mostly because I find it funny, so the more...in-depth(?) aspects are wasted on me.

That being said, I've always viewed (IDW) starbee as mutually beneficial because it gives them both a room to shed the perspectives others have of them.

I think Starscream and Bumblebee are really similar in the sense that they both don personas during the war. Starscream is the conniving, egocentric villain who WILL backstab you and WILL scheme his way out of everything. Meanwhile Bumblebee is everyone's friend, everyone's moral support, everyone's anchor. They are those things btw, but they aren't just those traits. These identities work fine during the war, but they both found themselves bogged down by the way others viewed them during peace-time.

In RID, Bumblebee is at a point where he's incredibly overwhelmed with a leadership role that was thrust unto him because of his reputation. Everyone voted for him because he's popular but he's popular because he's friendly and sweet. He can't seem to assert himself or his authority in the way a leader should because of it. This causes him to make the wrong decisions, lash out (choking Prowl), and grow increasingly frustrated. And then he dies.

Starscream is different in that he actually wants the leadership role and he wants to be adored by everyone, but he’s also affected by the version of him everyone expects. He won't say he cares about Windblade because that'll reveal a vulnerability that is "unStarscreamlike". He'll instead say "Yeah I should've been nicer to her so it would've been easier to manipulate her".

Basically this:

They're both stuck as what people see them as, but around each other they can both kinda shed these facades and understand each other in ways that few others could.

So to TLDR and answer your question lol: I think Starscream affirms to Bumblebee that he is more than "the autobot mascot", that he's more than this two-dimensional ray of sunshine. Starscream gives Bumblebee a space where he can just be a bit of an ass and be taken seriously. With a ship like starbee, Bumblebee is just ultimately going to be the healthier of the two, but I don't think that means he carries no baggage, yk?

Had the most ooc thought about Bee (at least I think it is ooc) but in a humanformers au, I think he’ll be those type of dads who are constantly working on some old car or basically repairing anything he finds on his backyard and chit chats with his neighbors all day

He has no much to do anymore, more that Aurora is all grown up and is making her own life (empty nest syndrome)

Also Star is crazy about Bee’s little hobby, in the sense he finds it so attractive and hot but he would never admit it because he needs to keep his ego (which he doesn’t have anymore)

Poor bumblebee he’s gonna be stuck for awhile figuring out his door wings but in the bright side some of his other friends (Autobots that don’t know flutters unless someone told them) he can get away with for now with them while he learns hopefully Starscream help him keep it in check.

(Also is Megatron and Optimus alive in this AU I can’t tell cause I was gonna make a comment on how it would be interesting if Megatron saw this since he’s been around the jets and everything that even he would know the flutters and would debate if he should tell prime it just shrug it off??)

its less of an au and more just 'idw but afterwards starbee happened' so unfortunately my guys are not among the living...well i mean ig megs could be imprisoned for life idk its left kinda ambiguous. but hes probably dead 😔 the idea of them finding out about their relationship IS very funny though i think megatrons processor would fall out of his head and optimus would short circuit
