being a king had its ups : people want to be your friend, and they want to make you happy ; people often visit just to give you things, and they often make it a point to keep it gilded and silvered.

but of course, being a king had its downs, too : you can never trust anybody, and often you're the target of assassination attempts ; the things people give you are subject to wariness for it could be poisoned or aimed to subjugate you with blackmail.

& of course there were the EXPECTATIONS.

not that king aryin ethan cytos really minded them.

his expression darkens with concern as the doors to his throne room open, dragging in a terribly pretty form that looks happy for the all the wrong reasons. drunk and yet daring, grinning wickedly, eyes rebellious but hungry over his own healthier frame.

"... I thought I said to bring him if he was willing," the king questions without the right tone, and the guards sigh at this, explaining that he would only come along if he was allowed to drink for his last moments of 'freedom'. "I see."

aryin stands up and waves the guards away, walking up to the man on the ground as he sees the large castle doors close. "Can you stand?" he asks as he stands above the smaller, hands behind his back, hidden by his half cape slung over one shoulder.

Miss, oh, Miss Selena, yes?" the croon of excitement curls through their voice as they happily jog up to the smaller woman, and if they had a tail to wag it would likely be going a mile a minute at the sight of the fellow keyblader. "I'm so happy to see you!" granted, they probably look different, now that they took the ultima cure from their uncle simon. ( hard not to notice that lack of claws and sharp teeth, and lack of white throughout the hair. )

it was a cautious opportunity to see someone cute and wish to speak with them. it was another story entirely to see said cute person and not get the jitters. ( even as someone with little concept of social cues, you don't just walk up to someone THAT pretty. alas, here they are, doing exactly that. ) "Hello!" they hope the nervous chitter of their jaw isn't noticeable. "I just wanted to tell you that you're very pretty."
