Kate was actually having a very good time. She had a few drinks, danced with some people-- both from the team and outside of it-- and even won a round of beer pong, where she got to show off her impressive target skills.

By the time Johnny got back to her, she was laughing and fully relaxed. Probably thanks to the alcohol, but also being around her teammates and friends.

She smiled up at Johnny as he pulled her into a dance. She took his hand and did a twirl for him before bouncing to the beat, her hands on his shoulders. They briefly ran down to his biceps and then back up.

"Thank you for convincing me to come. I really needed this." Kate called out from over the music, beaming at her friend.

"How else am I gonna know what they want for Christmas?" He grinned, cheerful and unrepentant. There were benefits to this outfit besides the fact that it didn't include a shirt, not that Johnny needed an excuse for either--shirtlessness or inviting girls to sit on his lap. He didn't imagine for a second that Kate would be one of those. She indulged his habits but typically didn't take part in them.

"Have fun!" It sounded more like a command than a reminder, Johnny pointing a finger at her before he disappeared into the crowd. He didn't really have an agenda outside that one directive, and he went where the party took him, moving among the crowd and accumulating drinks or shots and, indeed, finding out what a few girls wanted for Christmas.

He never stayed in one place long, occasionally peering over the crowd to check on Kate and make sure she was okay. He didn't really expect her to find trouble, especially not with half the team there, but just in case. He was a few drinks in by the time he made his way back to her, pulling her easily into a dance with him.

Kate felt her cheeks blush slightly at his approval. Sure Johnny was a horndog for pretty much any pretty lady, but knowing that he thought she looked hot made her feel many things. Especially since this was the man who not only was her first friend on the team, but Kate did find him attractive- how couldn't you? He was major eye candy and a real sweetheart (when it came to her, at least.)

"Yeah? Thank you, so do you. Are you gonna make all the girls sit on your lap?" It was a little cheesy, but Johnny always did like dressing up sexy for any party. A vision flashed in her head about her sitting on his lap which she quickly shook away. He's your friend, dummy! She laughed softly and nodded, "okay, drink and have fun. We'll have lots of fun!" She hyped herself up as the car started for the frat house.

When the group arrived, everyone got pulled in different directions, including Johnny. She felt a little frustrated at being separated from him, but it was okay. As long as she stayed with people she knew, like the girlfriends, she'd have fun. And with that, she had her first shot of the night and started dancing.

Every Christmas, the biggest frat on campus threw a major party. A few of her teammates were in the frat, so naturally Kate and the others were invited.

Kate loved Christmas and she always looked forward to it. The party she could live without, but the others made it fun- especially Johnny. He made everything fun. And she wasn't going to just not go to the biggest party of the year.

She didn't normally like to dress up, but honestly? Kate hadn't been kissed or anything more in so long. She wanted to make a good impression. So she bought a new dress- a tight red dress with some silver heels and she even curled her hair and did her makeup- or rather, the girlfriend of one of her teammates did that for her. Kate was the first to admit she wasn't good at makeup or hair or stuff like that.

Once all the girls were ready, one of them called her boyfriend and soon the boys pulled up in a few different cars. Kate scanned the cars for Johnny, and when she saw him she waved enthusiastically and slid in next to him.

"Hey! I'm so ready to have some drinks and just relax."

🎂 a birthday party (Kobik/Bucky @vvolfstare)

Kobik didn't technically have a birthday, but that wasn't going to stop her from celebrating one. Bucky helped her to figure out a day for her birthday, which they decided landed on the day they met.

The little girl was ecstatic to celebrate her first birthday. She helped to decorate, which almost ended up with the whole room being flooded with water (she wanted an under the sea theme!) but thankfully it all turned out okay. Really it was more than okay, they were the most spectacular decorations she had ever seen!

"Buck-Buck-Buckaroo!" She sang happily as she bounced around the room, pop music playing from the radio and people going about and hanging out. It was hard to find fellow children to celebrate with, but she was glad that she had some friends. She had Sam Wilson's nephews, Clint Barton's kids plus Kate Bishop, and even some friends she made when she went to school.

"This is the best day ever!" She flew herself into the soldier's arms and kissed his cheek.

"I think so," she said without hesitation. Steve always joined in on Kobik's adventures, or at least supervised to make sure she always stayed safe. It made her sad that people thought he was boring- Steve was anything but boring in her eyes.

"Yay!" Kobik immediately dumped the entire bag of chocolate chips into the batter. Looking into the bowl, she saw that there were twice as many chocolate chips as there was actual batter. But it would be okay. Right? She picked up the wooden spoon and did her best to stir it in.

"Is it ready to go in the oven now?" She looked over at Bucky.

Bucky was good in the kitchen when the mood struck him, and he enjoyed the simple processes of putting together a dinner. He'd even branched out a little, watched some YouTube videos, learned a couple new things, and it felt good to be able to do that much for himself and the little soldier. Baking was a bit beyond his capabilities, but how hard could it be to follow a recipe, really?

Harder than he'd thought. Something about the goopy mess in the bowl looked wrong, although he couldn't put his finger on exactly what it was. "You sure we got everything, kid?" He frowned over her head at the list of ingredients, one hand braced against the counter. To be fair, he hadn't been closely watching what she was doing. There could be a puppy hidden in that bowl for all he knew.

"Uncle Steve! Can he come over?" Kobik loved it when Uncle Steve came over, he was almost as fun as Buckaroo. Which says a lot, because Buckaroo is the most fun.

When Bucky wiped her face clean, her face scrunched up a little but she let him clean her up. Kobik giggled at the tickles and opened up the cabinets, quickly finding the chocolate chips. That would make them extra chocolate-y. The bag of chocolate chips floated down from the cabinet and into Bucky's hands. She then levitated up and back down onto the floor, safe and sound.

"I think we need to add the whole bag!"

Kate snorted a little as Johnny just laid there like the little shit he was. It was funny- Johnny said he was a bad person, but he was always so nice to her. Going out of his way to make her part of the team and not just "that girl." Going along with her plans that she was sure he didn't actually have an interest in, like when she wanted to go trick or treating last Halloween. He was a good person, but it seemed that only she really got to see it.

She scoffed and rolled her eyes jokingly. "If I were sent down here to save your GPA, I'd probably quit on the spot." Kate teased him right back. She saw a group of cheerleaders a few feet away and then looked back at Johnny. "We have two scenarios here. Either you can save that cat, impress some hot cheerleaders and I'll let you take a break from studying. Or we will continue to sit here and I'll drill this textbook into your brain one way or another. Which will it be, Johnathan?"

The weather was finally decent enough to spend some time outside. Johnny was a fan of dragging a blanket and whatever teammates he could scrounge down to the quad to study. Perhaps it was because very little work ever got done that way. He was far more likely to abandon his books to get a game of Frisbee going, or to chat up a group of cheerleaders who'd come out for some extra practice.

There tended to be more actual work done when Kate was there though. He'd readily admit she was a lot smarter than he was, and also sort of good for him that way. He was stretched out on his back on the blanket to watch the various activities, an arm tucked under his head, the book he'd stopped reading a while ago resting on his chest. "Surely you're not talking about that cat on a leash in the tree. Not weird at all." Despite the leash and the person holding it trying to coax it down, it did not seem in any particular hurry to move.

now that i have retired, i would like to get a dog. however i just realized that you have to feed them and take them out. you dont get to just have a very lovable fur ball. i am very upset.
