my greatest fic rec of all time
CODA- an eruri AU set in the 1980s in paris. Erwin used to be a famous cello player before he lost his arm and has since fallen in to a deep depression, Levi has picked up the cello while hanging out in his friends music shop but has no classical training and is struggling with coming to terms with his past. They meet and soon are able to make each other so much better in all aspects of their lives, they are just exactly what the other needed. it's a perfect balance between a good plot and a character study. the ending is surely one of the best i've read, it just ties everything in while also leaving you longing for more. (222k words)
i have never read anything nearly as good as this and don't think i ever will. even though i finished it like 3 months ago i think about it everyday.
(also i have a google doc of songs and notes describing how they apply to different parts the fic if anyone's interested. a playlist wasn't enough)

tea time for anon. prompt: stall graffiti
------------------------------
april left a few days prior in a snow flurry. as the snow changed to rain, the soil softened to mud. and as the clouds began to break, the sun held the past few days as a ghost of hazy fog, creeping its way into every barrack. the rains had overflown the buckets stationed across the compound, the sun now threatening to sip them all dry before man and horse could get a chance to do so themselves.
the weather had disrupted the survey corps' early summer expedition planning. with the earth too soft to traverse and the plains too misty to spot danger, the scouts were left stationed to wait. plan. clean.
since being above ground, levi had never experienced such a temperamental and oppressive bout of weather. the humidity stuck to his skin, dripped from his hair, stung his eyes. rarely he missed the stuffiness of the underground, its oppressive weather coming in the form of black mold and stale bread.
but at least it was always cool.
with a band of ten other scouts, levi helmed the horse stable deep clean. fresh bedding, scrubbed feeders, oiled saddles. levi huffed as he slumped onto a bench, a heady breeze sweeping through the stables that did little to offer reprieve. the stench of horse manure clung to the fibers of his clothing, the taste of hay stuck to the crevices of his dry lips. pulling the bandana from his face, he wiped the jewels of sweat from his brow, pressed the cloth into the bridge of his nose and breathed out heavily.
hot.
so damn hot.
"captain," levi pulled the cloth from his face and looked up at the young cadet standing before him. "water?" levi nodded and took the mug from the cadet, opening his throat and gulping it down. "the commander wants us to return indoors."
"we're not done here yet," levi mumbled, though his words lacked a conviction, melting to the stool he sat on.
the cadet gave a single head nod. his jaw tensed, not wanting to disobey the commander, but too timid to bite back against the captain. "we can, uh, return tonight when it's cooler, perhaps?"
levi thought on it, a trail of sweat tickling down the front of his shirt. the sogginess of the socks in his boots. the clamminess of his hands. with a grunt, he tilted his head to dismiss the cadet.
it took him a few minutes to muster the energy to stand up again. like a wounded man, he limped his way through the stables on his way back to the barracks. but as he crossed the stall of the great white mare of their commander, something caught his attention. a small scribble, easy to miss for those that weren't trained to notice the unnoticeable. squinting, levi leaned forward to try to make sense of the graffiti, piecing the letters together into words, and the words into a phrase...
the heat rushed so quickly to levi's face that he needed to stabilize himself against the gate. he swung his head around to see if he was alone in the stables, causing himself to lose his balance further, his back smacking against the gate and collapsing onto the floor. his cheeks were on fire, the heat climbing through his limbs to the point that the tips of his fingers were red. fumbling around in his pocket, he snapped open his switchblade and scrambled back up the wood braces of the stall door. with knife edge to wood, he emphatically scratched out the wording, wood shavings flying and fluttering to the swept floor below.
"absolutely fucking..."
scratch scratch
"big eyebrowed..."
scratch scratch scratch
"idiot!"
scratch
with a dramatic huff, levi quickly surveilled his surroundings to make sure nobody saw him carve the saucy message made for him out of the wood grains. he didn't have it in him to drag the body of a new cadet's body into the woods on such a horribly hot day.
kicking the shavings aside, levi rushed out of the stables, the heat on his face being replaced with the heat of the sun. when he returned back to the canteen, the same cadet from before greeted him. he looked pleased that levi had listened to him afterall. "sir, you look flushed. can i get you something?"
levi straightened his damp cravat, "tell me where i can find our damn commander."

my favorite thing about navigating fanfiction is finding a really good one and being all “oh boy this was good, I hope they have more!” and literally every other story they’ve ever written was for like Miami Vice

Eruri Zombie apocalypse AU
Hello! I've been thinking up this story for a long, long time, and I've finally gotten around to writing and posting it.
Act one (What's currently being written now and will have 13 chapters) is mainly focusing on Eruri, but Act 2 (Just starting the plotting process) will have some variation.
There's a lot of grieving and adjusting to the fact the world ended snd they somehow survived, it's definitely a slow burn, and I've spent a lot of time on world building, so if you interested, the first two chapters are out! Give it a read and let me know what you think.

I just found out one of my favorite AO3 authors of all time is a fucking neurosurgeon which was surprising initially just because I often forget AO3 writers are real people and not smut angels sent down from the heavens to make us feel alive, but in hindsight it makes perfect sense.
they are a fucking genius so. they just apply that genius to multiple fields.

I feel like this is an unpopular opinion, but more people should read incomplete/unfinished/in-progress fanfics.
I've noticed this huge trend where creators on tiktok and tumblr who will be explaining how to use Archive Of Our Own to new users and they always say "and make sure to scroll down and click completed only" or how people will go out of their way to mention they only read completed fics 'because they were traumatized when they forgot to check the dates and didn't realize this fic hadn't been updated since 2012'.
The thing is - I think by not engaging with and/or actively avoiding writer's WIPs readers are potentially adding to the aggregate of abandoned works. Now this obviously isn't the case for all abandoned fics, anything from major life events, to loss of interest, to getting busy can be a reason for a fic getting abandoned - but at least on some level I just know that writers are quitting while they're ahead when they aren't garnering any response or feedback because reading WIPs has become unpopular. If you're worried about reading something that hasn't been updated since 2012 then you can use the date updated function to sort out old fics.
Anyways, support your favorite fanfic writers by engaging with their WIPs.

Dropping the link to my latest smut hehe this time Eruri!!!
Blood, Sweat or Tears
https://archiveofourown.org/works/66098698
Summary:
“Tell me,”
A gasp escaped Erwin’s dry throat the second Levi lowered a hand to palm at his clothed cock, flaccid underneath his uniform, the current situation anything but arousing.
“What do you feel?”
But Levi could fix that.
“What–” Erwin sounded breathless already, “--What are you doing?”
With a gentle squeeze that made the blonde’s breath hitch, Levi stood on his toes and licked up the column of his neck, not minding the salty sweat but careful to avoid the blood.
“You tell me,” he whispered once he reached his ear, before nipping the lobe and pulling away to look Erwin in the eyes.
They were still glazed over slightly, but now with a hint of lust. Levi didn’t need to look into his eyes to know Erwin’s interest had been stirred – he could feel it twitch underneath his palm, after all.
~
When Erwin almost gets himself killed for a stupid numbers game on the field and claims he would gladly sacrifice his life for the cause, Levi can't accept it. So he shows Erwin what he would be missing out on, making sure he knows what living is really all about.
Messy emotions ensue.

one time a professor asked me if i’d ever wanted to write anything “more important” than romance. and i said no. i was put on this earth to write about sad people kissing. and if another writer ever came up to me and said they wanted to write 400 pages containing nothing but a character baking a single loaf of bread each day, then i would tell them to do that. people don't write something because it's important. they write about something and that is what makes it important

CODA - chapter 1
Erwin stepped in; the scent of sap and varnish filled his nose, the sight of walls covered in every instrument his mind could fathom filled his eyes, and the melody of a cello playing tickled at his core. There was a young man sat at the back of the shop, a worn cello tucked between his legs, charcoal bangs falling over his profile. The silhouette was wrapped in black from head to toes, making the paleness of his face stand out almost ghastly so. His lips were pinched together, head lowered to the bow that was travelling candidly on the strings.

✨Doujinshi Shop Open!✨
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Hello all! I have set up a storefront to handle international orders outside of Japan for Closest To My Heart/だれよりも心を許している男, the pza/patrochilles doujinshi I released at the Japanese Hades fan event, Chthonios Epic 3. (And for the Eruri heads out there, I also have the last few copies of my first doujinshi listed as well!)
If you live outside of Japan and you’re interested in buying a copy of my book(s), please visit ninnananna.bigcartel.com!
Basic book details:
Price: ¥1300 JPY (about $8USD) (+ shipping)
A5 size
110 pages
English and Japanese versions both included in one volume
A limited number of copies will also include a FREE postcard extra, featuring a text-free version of the cover art. Please select Book + Postcard in the Book Options menu.
Some Important Things Of Note!
This doujinshi is a bilingual physical edition of my fanfic, Closest To My Heart, which I originally posted in English on AO3. The new Japanese translation of the fic is currently exclusive to this book.
The cover is drawn by the amazing and talented artist RIPTIDE, who also drew an 8-page comic based on a particular scene in the story. The original English version of the comic, as well as a newly created Japanese version are also included in the book.
This doujinshi is R-18 (Adult Only), so please confirm the nature of the contents before you buy. If you are an adult with a pixiv account, you can look at a collection of sample pages here. Please also feel free to read the original version of the story and comic in their entirety on AO3, which is also where I have relevant tags and content warnings written in more detail. But to summarize here: the story has a few brief references to acts of rape/non-con, as well as references to & depictions of emotional and physical abuse, rough sex acts, and dubious consent. This is a darker, more dramatic, alternate canon retelling of the Patrochilles quest from Hades, in which everyone involved (Achilles, Zagreus, & Patroclus) feel emotionally conflicted with one another, as well as the situation they get caught up in. “Toxic love triangle” is the story summary in a nutshell!
Currently, I am able to ship to countries where the Japan Post has Registered Airmail service available. Luckily, this applies to most countries! However, a big exception right now are: EU countries and Northern Ireland. Since apparently new GPSR requirements went into effect, I am looking into whether or not it is feasible for an individual like myself to comply when shipping to these countries.
For anyone living in the EU or Northern Ireland, the only possible workaround I can offer currently is this: proxy service via the listing on Pixiv Booth. Here is the Booth listing: https://darlingpoppet.booth.pm
Booth normally has a built-in proxy service through Buyee available for overseas customers. However, apparently this service is not extended to listings marked as Adult/R-18. However, it’s my understanding that there are other proxy service companies out there who are more lax about purchasing NSFW products on your behalf. I can’t personally vouch of any of them, but some names recommended to me as being Special Yaoi Book-friendly include Tenso, AOCS (both of whom I believe have official ties with the doujinshi retailer Toranoana), ZenMarket, and Neokyo. (ETA: I have since been able to confirm that this option has worked for an EU customer, so please try it!)
Finally, if you are someone who lives in Japan, please use the Booth listing!! Shipping is a flat 370 yen via Anshin Booth Pack, so the transaction is done completely anonymously.
Thank you everyone for your kind support! ♡ I had a lot of fun putting this book together so I hope you’ll enjoy it too.
