drowning in you like a tidal wave

her kisses were sweeter than the birthday cake they ate earlier, and he couldn't help but chase the remnants of that sugary sweet taste from her mouth, one hand spanning the width of her lower back while the other cupped her face and held her close as he kissed her breathless, dizzy with want.

her hands gripped his shoulders as she cuddled closer to him, her lips petal soft and honey-sweet. he was swimming in a sea of pink, and rather than dread it, he welcomed it, let the feelings he had for her crash over him like roaring tidal waves. he was heart was beating miles a minute, mirroring the dizzying speeds he ran every day like a slice of cake.

it was exhilarating and nerve-wracking all at once, and he didn't want to let her go, couldn't let her go, not with the way they were tangled up in each other.

he pulled back, smiling when her lips chased his. when she realized he had stopped kissing her, she blinked confused jade eyes at him, pouting adorably, and that expression made him want to smother her in kisses all over again.

"what's with that face, ames?" sonic teased, smoothing out her messy quills. she nudged him playfully, trying and failing to look angry. she could hardly ever truly be angry at him, would snuff out the flame before it had a chance to truly burn, and sonic was thankful for it, for her, and wouldn't take her or her love for him for granted.

"if it wasn't still your birthday, i'd summon my hammer and whack you with it," amy huffed, and it made her cheeks puff up, and she was just so cute, sonic couldn't resist and gave her a quick kiss, lips lingering and brushing teasingly before he slowly withdrew, emerald eyes gleaming and ablaze with something, and it made amy blush hotly, adorably averting her gaze.

"you wouldn't. how could you kiss me if i was all bruised up in the hospital? i wouldn't mind you kissing me better though." kisses rained down on her neck, and she couldn't help the pleased sigh that trickled through her lips or the trembles that wracked her body from his sensual actions.

his hands danced up her sides before sliding down to grip her hips and tug her closer still, and they were a breath and a heartbeat away.

"i know what else i want for my birthday."

"what?"

"you." and they were kissing again, but there was intent behind them, a desire burning between them both as they both allowed themselves to drown into each other.

im hoping to combine elements/vibes of these two eventually to make smth solid, but for now i like the loose feeling and not holding myself to anatomical standards

bc i got a new phone i forgot to make an updated backup for mihon now i don't have to completely start over but it's all DC rn so im missing my sonic stuff and any and all manga 😭😭 its not like ive read much in a while or even read most of these but there was a lot there i was GOING to read LOL

i'll still be doing some odds and ends this weekend but i just pretty much finished working on a freelance project where i drew 140+ grayscale images for a psychology workbook for elementary school kids. and i just checked, the ask was 6-8 weeks of work with a hard deadline of june 15th, and looking at when our communication began its really more like 5 weeks, maybe 6 if you count week 1 as when it started and not when a week was completed. does that make sense? anyway im snoozing im proud of myself and come september or whenever i'll officially be a published illustrator which is kinda kookoo

So, um, I'm sure I'm not the first to notice it but....

I mean, I noticed that track that plays in Hometown near the ending of Chapter 4 musically references "It's Raining Somewhere Else" from Undertale but....... okay, fuck, that name....

Honestly I kinda figured we'd get a track with a name like that in Deltarune and yet it still surprised me regardless???

Like, the implications............. It works super-well with the 'Sans Undertale is actually Sans Deltarune" theories, considering the places "It's Raining Somewhere Else" plays in 'Undertale'

During one of Sans' most sincere and serious scenes in the Neutral/Pacifist Playthrough where he muses about whatever it's worth it to 'go home'

and in his secret workshop, with the strange machine and the hidden Deltarune teaser.

"It's Raining Somewhere Else" is, in that context, the theme of Sans' hopeless already-gave-up-on-it wish to go back to "the place where it rained". To Hometown.

But even without Sans directly travelling from the Deltarune timeline to the Undertale timeline.... Even if we assume that Undertale and Deltarune are parallel but separate lines that never meaningfully interact, the parallel being drawn here is still very emotionally powerful.

The main focus of the Sans' 'date' scene is his story about befriending Toriel behind the door to the ruins and the promise he made to her. They've never seen each other's faces, they haven't even bothered to introduce themselves by name. There is some connection there, but it's blocked by their secrets and obligations and also a giant-ass stone door.

And somewhere else, in another world, it's raining, and Toriel ducks into Sans' grocery store and they spend an entire night drinking and having fun.

A lot of people assumed the rain here is a metaphor for depression and sadness of Sans or Toriel or both. But I think, with that track, it's more likely that the rain is the happy moment and the bond these two share in the Deltarune timeline, somewhere else.

Of course, depending on which ending you get, you can bring the 'rain' to them. Sans and Toriel can meet in the Undertale timeline and become friends and have many happy nights dancing the Jitterbug or whatever. But... they also they might not, depending on the Player's actions before and after this scene. Toriel might even be dead and that 'rain' will never come. And either way, at this moment Sans has no reason to think he will ever get a chance to truly meet the funny lady behind the door.

Is it sadder to think that this is the same Sans who danced with Toriel Deltarune, who probably knows that it's the alternative-universe counterpart of her beyond the door but also think there's little no chance they'd ever meet or relive that connection they had in the Place Where It Rains?

Or if it's sadder if it's a different Sans who doesn't even know there's a version of himself and the mysterious lady behind the door, dancing and laughing and having the time of their life, Somewhere Else?
