What is Twitter?

Twitter is a social media platform where people communicate through and/or post short messages called “tweets”. Twitter is so popular as it is a good way to share small bits of your life and thoughts, it is a good way to interact and it is easy to use. Twitter started in 2006 and it now has 187 million daily users and the largest age demographic of twitter is between 25-35 years old. A few features of twitter are you to send and read other peoples tweets and it can be used to keep up with what is going on in the world and you can also use it to communicate with people. Twitter is good as easily promote things through posting tweets, links etc, you reach a large number of people quickly through tweets and retweets and you can keep up with stuff you enjoy. Some bad things about twitter is that it is addictive, tweets are restricted to certain amount of characters, it can bring a a lot of hate. Twitters privacy concerns are that it can access your location and your information. Twitter can be used to promote events through tweets and re tweets and it can also be used during events as many events will have a live twitter feed on show.

What is Instagram

Instagram is a free social media platform that people use to share photos and videos. Instagram is so popular for many reasons, one reason is that it is good for people to gain a following to get “insta famous”, another reason is that it was one of the first like it and is so easy to use. Instagram started in 201o and in 2021 Instagram has 1.074 billion users worldwide and 71% of the billion monthly active users on the Instagram app are under the age of 35. Instagram has many features such as, filters for pictures, stories, highlights. good things about Instagram are, it is fast and easy to use, quick to share what you are posting on to other social media platforms and you are able to communicate and interact with people who are close by and from all over the world. a few bad things about Instagram are that it can give people a false sense of reality and it can be addictive. some of Instagram’s privacy concerns are that it accesses your location and it can access information without you knowing. Instagram pages can be made up for events and posts can be shared and it can be good for promoting events. I have used Instagram to promote an event i have held in my college course.

What is Facebook?

Facebook is a free social media platform that is used to communicate with friends and family, share photos and comments and see what’s happening around the world. Facebook is so popular as it is a platform were people can get entertained, find sources of information and talk to people all in the same place and it is easy to use for everyone. In 2021 Facebook has 2.80 billion monthly active users and is the leading social media platform, reaching 59.0 percent of social media users. Good things about Facebook are that, you can see what is going on in your community (new businesses, catch up with old friends, events), it is good for building online brands, everyone can use it as it is simple. a few bad things about Facebook is that it can be highly addictive, it opens up your social life to more people than you may like and it is known to generate things like hate discrimination etc. Facebooks main privacy concerns stem partly from the company’s revenue model that involves selling information about its users. Facebook can be used to market events by making Facebook event pages that can be shares by anyone and can let they host see how many people are planning on going, it is also good because photos and status’ can be shared to promote. I have used Facebook to promote an events that I have hosted in college and also used it as a way to invite people to my 18th birthday party.
