Character Intimacy Levels: S39 Pt. 2 of 2
Based on the character intimacy percentages from the art book. Covering my characters’ intimacy levels with characters they have notable relationships with within and outside of their classes. This is part 2 for my S39 kids, then there’ll be Non-Competitors (Eddy and Itsaso), S40 (Naz and Yael), and S41 (Light and Halo).
Himei
Tallis: 100% You’ve always been so authentic, whether you like it or not. …I like being needed by you.
Tov: 98% My best friend—more than a best friend? You’re more strong-willed than Tallis. It’s harder to control and keep you where I know you’re safe.
Dian: 95% My less complicated best friend, haha! I feel like I can tell you anything. Well—most everything.
Hayate: 70% I love you. I will always love you. But you’re wrong.
Rose: 67% We used to clash a lot. It’s funny to remember those times, actually.
Moran: 52% One of Tov’s friends and I like to think one of my friends too! You’re the first classmate I met when we were in those containers. You do make me a little sad sometimes…
Min: 50% I wish we could dance again, Min…
Nyx: 30% Silly, reticent boy! Poor DiDi is head over heels for you and you have no idea.
Lark: 16% I didn’t even think much of you until… well.
Leona: 10% Strange…
Ellie: 10% I’m not much of a fan.
Noora: 8% I will never forgive myself, for what little it’s worth.
Halo: 1% I know you’re supposed to be some kind of replacement for me. Good luck, child. It’s not as great as it looks.
Cirrus: 1% It should’ve been me.
Daiki: 1% You bring out the worst in me.
Kyo
Castor: 99% I love you, Castor. And I have no idea how to reach you.
Nyx: 85% Cas has tried to sway me into mentoring way too many next class kids with him, but you I genuinely like. I want to protect you.
Haneul: 80% You pay a lot of attention to me, which I’m not really used to… it’s nice, though.
Evon: 70% I could sit with you for hours in comfortable silence.
Faolan: 70% So cool…
Jae: 36% Err, you’re a little tiring. Nice though.
Azure: 33% You’re not as bad as Cas thinks. I feel bad for you, to be honest.
Akane: 30% I find a kindred spirit in you, Akane.
Aegaeon: 20% You annoy me.
Tagging: @ivanttakethis for Tov. @imperfectnothing for Nyx, Dian, Han, and Fao. @rosedeleca for Rose. @geospiral for Moran. @starry-skiez for Min. @kamersona for Lark and Noora. @bittersweet-adagio for Ellie. @cirrusoftheclouds for Cirrus. @daiki1k for Daiki. @kofeedoggo for Jae and Evon. @azureitri for Azure. @aakaneeee for Akane. @14-alc for Aegaeon.

End of Round 29 - Tov’s Log
Tov (50) vs. Jae (49) -> Tov Win
————————————————————
Tov only saw the final scores for a fraction of second before the lights cut out.
50 - 49
She won.
Barely.
Again.
Emergency sirens blared to life.
The crowd, consumed by the darkness, began to panic.
Two guards rushed the stage, barreling past Tov and snatching Jae up by both his arms.
One of her heels snagged in a groove on the stage and she stumbled back, but someone caught her before she could fall and a gloved hand took hold of her arm.
She flinched at the unwanted contact, trying to pull away.
“Tov, we need to go. Now.”
Familiarity prickled at the back of Tov’s mind. She stopped struggling.
As her eyes adjusted to the dark, she could make out a medic patch faintly glowing on the guard’s sleeve.
Elias?
She bit her tongue to keep from saying his name aloud, drawing blood.
Another guard took Tov’s other arm and quickly led her off stage. They were shorter than Elias, with a smaller build.
The slope of their shoulders was a dead giveaway.
Prem.
“What’s going on?” She shouted over the ensuing chaos.
“Not sure yet, but we need to secure your safety first.” Prem said, cutting through the throngs of frightened backstage staff.
He ushered her and Elias to a door that led into a stairwell. The same stairwell Tov had used to get to Himei and Tallis before their rounds.
How long ago was that?
She shook free of her thoughts, forcing herself to stay in the present as they exited the stairwell into the tunnels.
It was quieter underground, the wailing of the sirens above them muffled by the thick layers of concrete.
After a few turns left and right, the number of aliens the trio passed grew fewer and fewer, until they turned onto an empty hallway that deadened.
Prem stopped and looked over his shoulder behind them before locking the set of doors they just came through.
“Okay, I think we’re far enough away now.” He exhaled like he’d been holding his breath. “Find any new info, Eli?”
Tov turned to Elias, who was tapping away at a device with a small screen attached to his left sleeve.
“The alarms going off are meant for intruders, but I don’t see any alerts about security breaches.” Elias said, removing his helmet. “Something’s off about this whole thing. I don’t like it.”
“Whatever it is, we should be safe here.”
Prem pulled off his helmet in turn and shook his curly hair loose.
It was Tov’s first time seeing what he looked like.
He was a bit paler than her and Elias, dark hair and dark eyes, with a scar running from the bottom of his right eye to his chin. It looked old and somewhat faded, likely from his childhood.
Based on his youthful appearance, she guessed he was closer in age to Nyx than he was to her.
Prem noticed Tov’s assessment of him and flushed at the tips of his ears, “Oh, yeah, I guess we haven’t really met before.” He let out an awkward chuckle before extending a hand to her. “I’m Prem, Elias’s junior.”
“Nice to meet you, officially.” She said, shaking his outstretched hand in the formal manner Cassio taught her. “I assume you also know my benefactor?”
“Yep! Not as well as Eli, since I’m younger, but I know them all the same. I offered to help out with delivering the messages.”
If Prem also knows this person, they’d have to be rather young, right? Maybe around my age?
But how would they know Alien Stage guard medics?
Are they a medic too? Or perhaps another guard?
“Shit.” Elias hissed.
Both Prem and Tov turned to face him as he furiously tapped the screen, his expression pinched.
“What’s wrong?” Prem asked, a slight edge in his voice.
“Subject-010625 escaped.”
Tov inhaled sharply.
Jae escaped?
“What?!” Prem’s voice pitched upwards. “How?”
“The announcement said he was taken by two rogue guards.” Elias said.
“Those must’ve been the guards that rushed the stage.” Tov said. “I thought they were taking him someplace safe like you two did.”
Prem groaned, running his hands down his face. “I thought so too.”
“It’s being reported that the guards are highly violent. They think it’s the same pair that took Subject-010420 after Round 11.”
Evon?
The room started to spin.
Tov stumbled over to a wall to brace herself.
“Evon is still alive?” She asked faintly. “She escaped too?”
There was a pressure building in her chest.
Something wanted out.
Elias nodded. “Yes, we believe that’s the case.”
A loud bark of laughter punched its way out of Tov’s diaphragm and echoed off the concrete walls, startling the two guards and herself.
Before she could open her mouth to explain or express concern, a stream of thready, hysterical giggles bubbled up from her chest and strangled the words halfway up her throat.
Tov laughed until her sides hurt, until she couldn’t breathe, until tears blurred her vision and the laughing became crying.
She sunk to the floor on weak knees, doubled over from the emotional overstimulation.
Relief. Joy. Envy. Anger. Grief. Sadness.
All caught in a swirling storm racking her blood and bones.
Tov expected questions.
What’s wrong? Are you alright? How can we help?
She didn’t have any answers.
I don’t know. I don’t know. I don’t know.
But the questions never came.
Instead, strong but gentle hands guided her to rest her back against the wall.
Elias sat down next to her on her left and Prem sat down on her right.
Neither said anything as she struggled to pull herself together.
The sirens continued to blare in the distance.
Tov felt wrung out.
Her head was too heavy to hold up on her own, so she leaned over to let it rest on Elias’s shoulder.
He didn’t seem to mind.
Prem handed her a tissue from his side pocket kit.
She wiped her nose as best she could.
A few more moments passed in silence before Tov spoke.
“What now?” She asked, her voice thick.
“Now, we wait.” Elias said. “It’ll all be over before you know it.”
As Tov closed her eyes and slowed her breathing, she couldn’t help but think he meant more than just the lockdown.
————————————————————
Tov won and Jae escaped!! Everything should be good now, right?
… Right?
Well, Tov has some complicated feelings about it. She’s relieved Jae escaped and that Evon is alive because she really doesn’t want anyone else to die.
But part of her is almost envious that they were saved when so many others weren’t, including some of the people Tov was closest to (Himei, Moran, Flor, etc.). She’s also angry that any of them had to be in this position to die like this in the first place.
At least Elias and Prem were there to comfort her. I think Tov would’ve spiraled even worse if they didn’t stay with her. I lobe my boys 🥹
Jae and Evon belong to @kofeedoggo.
Nyx belongs to @rockwgooglyeyes.
#AHHH#OMG#wait this is so interesting hearing others thoughts abt the “guards”#everything is good notjhing can go wrong#unless...#kofee box

POST ROUND 26 (TOV WIN) - おやすみ
Akane is dead.
In the wake of the tie, Akane decided to take fate into her own hands, such a inspired decision that it ended up with her shot and bleeding out over the floor, just after she shot her owner in front of the whole crowd. Of course, Tov smiled up on stage. She's been trained well enough to force her lips into form and keep them that way until the flashes of the camera stop. She can go through the motions with her eyes closed and her mind turned off. She's going to the semifinals. The semifinals of a fucking death competition.
It's unclear what exactly that says about her other than that she's survived this far.
After everything, when she and Cassio get back to the apartment, Tov falls back into the good old practice of stalking down the halls as fast as she can and trying not to let her tunnel vision make her falter too much. Cassio said something to her but she didn't hear it, the noise in her head too loud, the reminder that she could be the one bleeding out on the floor next, that she's so easy to replace, that she is just another warm body waiting to be relieved of its lifeblood, all screaming in her ears.
It's hard to quite avoid every obstacle when she can't see anything outside of what's in front of her, her mind too focused on getting back to her room rather than dodging that one step that would send her careening to the floor if she didn't hop it at just the right moment or that coat rack that's really easy to crash into if you round the corner too sharply. She only barely clears said coat rack before she makes a mad dash for the door to her room, inputting the code with a shaky hand and darting inside. She only lets out the breath she has apparently been holding once the door hisses shut behind her.
Tov can't help the way her shoulders begin to tremble, her hands quivering even when she knits them together, interlocking the fingers in an effort to increase structural integrity. In the end, all that does is make her hands shake more, her whole arms quaking underneath the weight of her body suddenly drained of adrenaline and direction. She takes a staggering step forwards, another, and she crumples as her legs give out from under her. Luckily enough, she's caught by the forearms, prevented from tumbling to the floor and pulled upwards, held standing by these mysterious, pale hands. Looking up to find her savior, she is even more shocked by who she sees than she was to be caught at all.
"Nyx?" She croaks, her voice hoarse from singing and holding back tears. Nyx smiles at her, the skin at the corners of his eyes crinkling slightly as he nods, backlit by the moon.
"That's me," he answers and Tov can't help but slump forwards, hitting her forehead against his chest in an attempt to show her indignation at his presence here but she's too tired to keep up appearances for long, seeking out comfort in his warmth. He chuckles and bundles her up into a makeshift hug, carrying her further into her rooms. Nyx sits down on the bed and shifts to set her down but Tov wraps her arms around his neck and clings to him, unable to hold back her desire for human contact when she's shaking from emotional hypothermia. Nyx hums, resting his head on top of hers and pressing soothing circles into her back, bringing her in closer.
"What're you doing here, you idiot?" Tov asks, hoping that the wetness in her voice is hidden by the way her words are muffled into Nyx's neck. Nyx sighs, probably rolling his eyes, too.
"Do you want me to leave?" He retorts and Tov immediately tightens her hold on him. He laughs, and Tov can practically hear the smirk in his voice. "I'll take that as a no, then."
"Obviously," Tov grumbles. "But, really, what are you doing here?" She asks, leaning back and looking up to Nyx's face, swallowing down her tears even as they dribble down her face. She doesn't even know when she started crying but it doesn't really matter, does it? It's already started to happen, might as well roll with it. Nyx makes a face, something between a grimace and a pursing of the lips.
"I'm here to check in on you," he answers, glancing down to meet her eyes with a sheepish smile.
"What, were you worried?" Tov scoffs with a roll of her eyes, half legitimately incredulous and half sarcastic on instinct. Hurt flashes in nephrite eyes, a muscle in the jaw twitching beneath the skin.
"Yes! I was," Nyx snaps, frown consuming his smile in the blink of an eye. "I didn't want you to think I left you." I didn't want you to think that I would just leave you, goes unsaid. Tov sighs and rests her brow against Nyx's collarbone.
"I understood," she murmurs, thinking back to those dark nights, spent all alone. "It didn't even cross my mind." Himei dying, shot down with a desperate smile on her face. Lang, crashing to the earth, a shooting star finding its final resting place. The secrets, lies echoing in the halls of the compound, whispers winding themselves through the darkness. Her own cardiac event, ending up in the hospital, and then Wren telling her to keep her chin up. So much has happened, Tov had hardly the moment to spare a thought to Nyx. Not out of neglect or any contempt, but he wasn't someone she had to worry about so much, now. Tov's mind has been more fixed on trying to figure out the business with Tallis and recovering from her heart attack.
"I didn't want you to," Nyx tells her, his voice thick with emotion. Tov blinks and pulls back, meeting his eyes only to see tears welling up there. His cheeks are pink, his break hiccuping in his throat and Tov has half the mind to reach up and wipe the tears from his face but she waits, instead. "I wanted you to hate me, for dying. For breaking my promise to you and laughing when you told me to win."
". . . why?"
"It would be easier that way, y'know?" He sniffs and smiles, wry in the darkness. "It wouldn't hurt so much if you hated me, I thought. Besides, I've told so many lies. I never told you that Vera is still alive. I never told you that I saw Aurien get taken away by Solei. I never told you about my children. I don't even know, I have so many fucking secrets. Even still, you're the only one who knew about Cas and I trust you and I love you and I still didn't tell you. I felt awful for keeping it all from you."
"Tallis is still alive," Tov blurts, all of a sudden. Maybe there's something honest in the air, floating through the HVAC system. Maybe she's just been moved to fits of stupidity by Nyx's uncharacteristic show of emotion. Nyx stares at her for a long moment, his eyes widening. Then, he barks an incredulous laugh.
"Well, damn," he muses, running a hand through his hair. "I never would've- I guess I shouldn't be surprised. Ji Woo and Ryu joined up with Solei and Auri, I mean, anything is fuckin possible at this point, ain't it?"
"Seems that way," Tov replies, laughing along with him.
"Yeah, I," Nyx hesitates, pursing his lips for a moment before shrugging. "We can talk about this more, later. We're both tired."
"Later when?" Tov asks with a frown, skepticism dripping from two simple words. Nyx huffs a laugh, rolling his eyes.
"I have a little communicator for you, that way we can keep in touch," he says, smiling at her softly. "I'm gonna stay until you fall asleep, anyways. You should get ready for bed, yeah?" Tov blinks, considering for a moment. She is exhausted, it would make sense to go to sleep but Nyx is here, and shouldn't she try and stay awake for as long as can to keep him here longer? But there's not a time limit this time. He'll be here as long as she wants him to be.
It doesn't take too long for Tov to get dressed down and changed into her pajamas. She goes through her bathroom routine, putting her braids into a cap for sleeping and washing the makeup off of her face, brushing her teeth, the works, before she returns to Nyx. He's humming to himself idly and tapping on a little device, presumably the communicator(?), waiting for her to come back. He looks up when she arrives, smile immediately cresting on his face. He beckons her over, patting the bed. Tov rolls her eyes, laughing underneath her breath as she goes over to sit next to him.
Nestling under Nyx's arm, Tov lays down next to him and rests her head against his chest. He taps out a rhythm on her arm.
"Hands of time will wring my neck, every little moment spells regret," he starts to sing, the sound reverberating through his chest and Tov can hear it perfectly. "But I don't have to feel this way, as the voice inside my head, o-ya-su-mi." Sleep settles over Tov's body, sinking into her bones as she falls asleep to the sound of her brother's voice.
finally finished the nyx/tov piece where nyx visits tov and they get to talk!! tagging @ivanttakethis, @starry-skiez, @lookatmysillies, @apriciticreveries and @solei-eclipse because y'alls characters either feature prominently or they're mentioned <3

CIRRUS LOG - ###?
TW for death, blood, and suicide metaphors
Not all stories have happy endings. I didn’t always understand the purpose of that phrase. The stories I’ve read weren’t always cheerful. I thought it was common knowledge.
I didn’t understand.
I understand now.
The difference is, this isn’t fiction. This is my life. I’ll never be like the heroes of fiction — their stories made sense in the end. The pieces fell into place. Mine are broken beyond comprehension.
A mirror shattered still reflects the viewer, and I fear it’s a reflection of my own guilt that stares back. And yet, selfishly, I live.
I wouldn’t say I’m scared to die. No, it’s deeper than that. I’m scared of what would happen to the one that lives if I do.
Those two are singing as I write, and while I’m not very familiar with either, it would be cruel to see them suffer any more than they already have. I wish I had more time, at least. I wanted to know everyone, but my time wasn’t enough. It’s never enough.
How does something that’s so far out of my control still feel like it’s my fault? I’m drowning, it seems. And I won’t break for air.
These shards will stay on the floor. I’m not equipped to piece them back together. I know how I’ll bleed if I do. Better my blood than theirs.
Either way, my fate is inescapable, and I have a feeling I won’t like the outcome, whatever it may be. Death turned out to be more merciful than life. Its ironic. We run from it, yet it will sanctify us in the end.
I have nothing left to lose. Not that I had much to start with.
Please spare yourself the pain.
Please let me be the last flower in the graveyard.
Please let me save you.
-Cirrus

Evon as Levia, Yume as Behemo ("the young man suddenly saw something odd, another world spread bare inside his mirror. A young woman stretched out her hand to him, she looked just like him") ((the white/grey hair strand in the middle of their hair, black hair, etc))
KELLIE HI!!! :D I had to search up Levia and Behemo but I saw this from the wiki for Levia: "she had a tendency to ignore or deny reality when it became too difficult to bear" which is really on brand for Evon too!! 😭
AND YUMME!!!! YEAHH !! I scoured for more info on them since I haven't been on Tumblr as often, but I find that their similarities with the hair as you mentioned interesting :0 and the quote you mentioned I can see happening if Evon were to somehow be forced back into Anakt-- ("suddenly saw something odd" to "omg twin...")
#this is a sign to listen to Evillious#goal is winter break 🙏#aside from that#HIHI KELLIE!!#hope youve been doing well!! :D <33#I've been too dead on the Tumblrverse 🥲#kofee ask
