   Immediate discomfort. Said wings are folded up posthaste. “I don’t know who gave you the idea that you could talk to me, but I sure as hell didn’t. Don’t start somethin’ you can’t finish, you deformed cockatiel.”

This other girl was certainly chatty wasn’t she? Not that she minded, it just meant that she could do more listening rather than talking. She put her hands on the table and locked her fingers together, waiting patiently. “That’s right. Just hearing you say that tells me that you’ve heard of me.” She noted, mostly to herself more than to Rachel. Did other students really pay that much attention to the hero course students? It kind of surprised her if anything. “I think the hero course is quite nice, I’m guessing you’re in one of the general courses then? Am I right in asking that?” She asked and then nodded in response to what she had said.

Her fingers moved out of their position of being locked together so that she could bring the paper in closer to look at it. Oh, oh… This was some really basic stuff, it kind of surprised her to say the least. In the mean time, she just sat there and quietly listened to her convey her concerns and explain. As soon as she was done, Seiren almost immediately pointed out the word in question. “It’s right here,” that being said, she picked up her pencil and circled the section then pushed the paper back so that Rachel could look it over, “You should be able to find the answer in that circled section.”

   “--? Oh, wow, was it that easy? Embarrassing!” The paper is promptly taken back and looked over the noted section for a minute. As she read, she continued to speak, “But, yes, I’m in 3C. We have fun too, just not the same type of fun as you all.” Pencil is grabbed from the desk and the answer quickly written down at the bottom of the sheet, presumably where the question was asked. It was a very basic worksheet, but she was perfectly aware of that.

   The paper was looked over again, then set back down onto the table as her focus broke and was set back onto Seiren. “Cool! Do you think I’m stupid? I promise I’m not, they have me learning two languages at the same time. I’m better at speaking them, not reading them. They’re trying to hit my ‘weak points’ with all these worksheets. Lame, right?”

  “Both.” Taking the little hint that she wanted to get going to the dorms, he continued going down the hallway as he was before Rachel stopped him, albeit at a slower pace than before. “I hammer and shape the metal with tools, but if the others need something in a way too specific for standard methods, my quirk can bend and shape metal in unnatural ways.”

   “Ooooh, really? I don’t know what an unnatural metal shape looks like, but it sounds very cool.” Her chatter continued as they walked, her ability to talk obviously not hindered by any amount that they moved forward. What could she say, she was curious about her new friend (as she saw him). “Do you make cookie shapes? Press them into dough and make cute shapes, like snowmen. You could be a good baker’s worker when you grow up!”

   New muse will be added as soon as I’m able! Why? No self control. Her name is Desiree, she’s a mafioso, and she has two different FC’s because she doesn’t enjoy being recognized outside of work. I’ll post a starter call for her when she’s actually added but this is just half an announcement for a new muse and half me confirming that I AM HERE AND NOT DEAD, it’s just a little difficult to be online on a laptop that isn’t mine.

It was often that Seiren was held up in the library, she took her studies extremely seriously. Not that she really had to worry with how good her grades were. Still though, she thought it was important, which is why she spent so long in the library when it was open to the students. Her pen moved across the page that her notes were written on, marking things that she thought she should study more in depth. After all, she never knew what would pop up on the next exam. Typically, she’d study with Hadou and Amajiki, but they were busy with something else, just some training, she was sure they’d be able to resume joint study sessions soon.

She looked up for a brief second when she heard movement in front of the table she was sitting at. Oh, who was this? Usually she was good at placing faces, but this girl was a mystery. Light eyes watched quietly for a second, it wasn’t a problem, she wasn’t going to be rude and tell her to leave.

“Seiren Sasaki, nice to meet you,” she told this girl named Rachel and just watched as she got settled down at the table with her, “I like to think that I read English well, but I could be wrong. Oh sure, I don’t see why I couldn’t, what is it that you’re struggling with? You really don’t have to, I don’t mind helping.”

   “Seiren Sasaki, Seiren Sasaki... Ooh! Right, you’re in class A, huh? Third year?” Papers would be looked through and one grabbed unceremoniously, as she grabbed her pencil and began jotting down notes across the worksheet as she spoke to the girl in front of her. “Must be fun in hero courses, I try to keep track of you guys so I can see you become heroes in the future. I’ll look on TV and be like, ‘oh, I remember them!’ You know?”

   After several seconds of scribbling and circling questions she was struggling with, the worksheet was slid over to Seiren. “See, they’re questions about the reading of this article,” she explained, using her pencil to point to the small article adorning the front page of the sheet, “But I can’t find what the questions are asking. Like, how am I supposed to know how many dentists are in Japan? I can’t see them mentioning that in the article. Might not help that I don’t know what the word ‘dentist’ is in English, but I’m not supposed to look it up. Do you know?”

Sure, he was a mangaka, though, in his personal opinion, he was kind of dull in comparison to the other students and likely even her. “My name is Ren Koizumi, and I’m a first year. I’m the metalsmith of the Support Department, which means I’m the one that shapes all the metal that they use for their inventions.”

   “Oh, a first year? So I’m older than you, that’s funny,” Rachel replied, taking a step or two forward to try to initiate them walking to his dorm. She had no clue where the support dormitories were, so she would just have to hope that he’d lead the way. “You just shape metal all day? You don’t smell like metal too badly. Does your quirk shape the metal or do you do it by hand?”

25.) Describe your character’s hands. Are they small, long, calloused, smooth, stubby?

   Quinn’s hands are soft, long, and manicured to perfection. He doesn’t keep his nails very long, but he almost always keeps them polished and tidy. His fingers are pretty long but they’re still masculine, not dainty. He uses working hand cream daily to maintain the softness in his hands and avoid the roughness a lot of men can have.

   Rachel’s hands are dainty and soft, typically with clean, short nails but not with polish. Her hands have various marks that imply that her hands haven’t always been so clean, however they are fading with time. There are some scars that indicate slices to her fingers, the most prominent being many tiny circular scars on the palms of her hands. Her fingers are a bit short, but they fit with how she is proportioned.

24.) What might your character’s ideal romantic partner be?

   He’s a bit of a horndog, but if he were to settle with anyone, they need to be able to handle him in the sense of being able to withstand his lack of filter and be able to bite back as needed. He can’t be with someone that is incapable of reaching his level of difficulty. He secretly likes to be checked, and if whoever he’s with can’t do that, the relationship will sour quickly.

   Never properly thought about it for her since she’s yet to have even a crush on anyone, but I’d guess she would fit well with someone with a lot of empathy since she’d be a little confusing in a relationship. Kindness is a necessity, she can’t handle someone that’s constantly negative and mean. She’d also do well with someone that understands boundaries and doesn’t incessantly push her to do new things (she can handle that in a friend but in a romantic relationship I think it would be emotionally exhausting for her).

23.) Is your character superstitious?

   Not exactly. He believes in luck and karma and all that, but he doesn’t necessarily subscribe to some classic superstitions. He doesn’t think stepping on a crack is bad luck, nor does he think that Friday the 13th is an unlucky day. He does believe that karma builds and bad actions will come back to haunt you, though.

   Nope, not at all. She doesn’t understand superstitions, most likely because she never grew up around any that particularly stuck with her. She sees them more as habits that people have to make themselves feel better, so she doesn’t dog on them or anything, but she doesn’t personally believe in any.

22.) If your character could time travel, where would they go?

   Nowhere. He’s not into time travel, he thinks it would get too messy. If he HAD to choose, he’d choose the future where he can’t mess anything major up.

   She’d also choose the future, just to see where technology gets to when she isn’t around. She’s curious.

21.) What would your character’s cutie mark be?

   I never watched MLP so I don’t 100% know what a cutie mark is, but I looked it up and apparently it’s for a unique characteristic that sets them apart from others.

   Quinn’s mark would probably just be his wings-- an obvious characteristic that sets him apart.

   Rachel’s would be something reminiscent of loyalty/friendship, so I’ll say a sunflower with two hearts around it. I don’t know.

30 Days of Character Building ; Day 20

20.) Does your character have any irrational fears? 

   Quinn has an irrational fear of birds. It started as a rational fear, considering his quirk shrinks him in size and makes him vulnerable to birds attacking, but over time it’s become irrational to the point that he fears them even when he’s not small. His fear manifests mostly as anger, so you won’t catch him crying over a bird being nearby, but he will scare any off.

   Rachel’s most irrational fear is bodies of water. It doesn’t necessarily have to be deep or large, the only type of body of water that doesn’t make her greatly uncomfortable would be puddles that form on the streets during a rain. Even then, she will keep away from them unless she’s near someone that makes her feel safe. She doesn’t know how to swim as a result of this fear.
