Julio Rodriguez

Julio Rodríguez is a very exceptional baseball player from the Dominican Republic. He was born on December 29, 2000, and started playing very young. He has played with the Peoria Javelinas, Everett AquaSox, and Arkansas Travelers. He was the Mariner's number one prospect and the MLB’s number two prospect. He made his MLB debut on April 8, 2022, and won the Rookie of the Year award that year.

Auburn is preparing to work on their golf course this winter by starting to cut the grass, punch the greens, sand the greens, work on the tee boxes, etc. The Auburn golf course is known for hosting many golf competitions and clubs, and the quality of their course is key.

“We also need to have good customer service for golfers when they check in, make sure their tee time is correct, making sure that the pace of play on the course is good. Also, providing, you know, merchandise from the pro shop is well stocked so they can get supplies they need. Just making sure that golf carts are clean and always available for customers when they need one. Making sure the conditions on the course are good but also the other aspects of the golf course need to be there so that the course is successful.”

Business in Sumner, Washington Burned Down

A fire broke out in Sumner, Washington leaving the Stuck Junction Saloon and many other businesses burned down. The Stuck Junction Saloon states that the saloon is a tribute to Sumner’s long history as a pioneer town. Before establishing its current name, the town was called Stuck Junction after the Stuck River.

 

 

Here is a photograph of the entrance of The Stuck Junction Saloon. This business has been a staple of the community since 2013.

 

 

Spencer from Electric Coffee House says that the coffee house was out of business for weeks, and the biggest thing is to hurt together as a community; it brings you closer but also saddens you.

As a fire that destroyed many businesses in Sumner, Alyssa Leach was arrested for allegedly starting this fire. As warrants and prosecutors are expected to decide soon, the woman remains in custody.

The fire destroyed historic buildings and eight businesses. The business gave the footage to police of a woman in her 20s who has been known to have several interactions with police and was booked into jail with unrelated warrants. Days later, she admitted to setting the buildings on fire.

Kathy Peterson, a former three-store owner of Emerald City Smoothie, says that our business burned down in 2017, and I wish this on nobody as this affected my family tremendously.

The fire occurred in the heart of Main Street in Sumner. The fire happened on October 28, and crews started to show up around 3:30 a.m. At 5:18 a.m., the flames were no longer spreading, according to firefighters.

To have police and fire crews do their job, police say this is why the fire started. There was more of an intention rather than police and fire crews to do their jobs. There is no information on whether this individual had mental problems or not.

It was an exterior fire that caused the blaze said the fire marshal. Leach admitted to officers that she started the fire at The Attic and The Stuck Junction Saloon.

Leach is thankful no one was injured, said the mayor of Sumner. “This is the heart of our town, and we really support our businesses, and we’re here for them,” said Mayor Kathy Hayden. 

Individuals all around should care about this because it lets them know the possibilities of what can happen to your business. Mainly Sumner residents should care the most because this has affected them drastically by burning down many businesses and a historic building. Individuals should also care about this because this is borderline domestic terrorism.

The Stuck Junction Saloon and other businesses have been on Main Street for years, so for the community to be burned down because someone wanted the “police and fire crews to do their jobs” is unacceptable.

Assignment #1 Curiosity

Animal or plant based proteins?

Which is better, animal or plant-based protein, for building muscle? My definition of the best source of protein would be to provide the most muscle mass. The target audience is new gym goers, who will get the most use out of this information. According to the National Library of Medicine, “Proteins are the building blocks of life. Every cell in the human body contains protein. The basic structure of protein is a chain of amino acids. You need protein in your diet to help your body repair cells and make new ones. Protein is also important for growth and development in children, teens, and pregnant women.”                                                                 

You can get these proteins from animal-based foods such as dairy, poultry, red meat, chicken, and fish. You can also get essential proteins from plant-based foods such as soy, beans, whole grains, nuts, and seeds. According to Pat Peterson, a former three-store owner of Emerald City Smoothie states, “We sold nutritional supplements at our stores, so we were very much informed with the best protein intakes, it will always be the beef and chicken, but the soy supplements are still great. It depends on the body type as people respond differently to certain types of protein.” Pat is a knowledgeable individual and has not given me much information on the best kinds of proteins, but for a long time he was running those businesses, he helped many people find choices that work for them.                                                

When you get it, these proteins are ultimately up to the consumer, whether before a workout, after or maybe even during. There is a window when it comes to working out and max results when it comes time to eat the protein, and the choice of animal or plant-based is essential. According to Kathy Peterson, an owner with Pat, “In my experience, the soy proteins have been very beneficial to my health, it’s hard to say which one is the best, but for me, the soy proteins are great.” Kathy is also very knowledgeable about protein and the right choices for everyone, she has played an important role in their success.                                                                                       

Why an individual should eat protein is an easy answer, proteins are essential to survival. Protein is critical for fueling individuals’ bodies for their day-to-day life. Without protein, individuals will become very malnourished and ultimately have a weakened immune system.  How protein works are it repairs muscles, and the growth and repair of the muscles are essential for protein. Protein helps with body fat and muscle mass; protein plays a vital role in losing body fat and slimming down. The amino acids that make up the proteins are essential.                    

In experiences with individuals taking their health seriously, protein is a crucial topic in many situations. I have heard so many different explanations for everything, so the curiosity is still there because there is no one simple answer; everyone’s bodies are different and respond differently. Some individuals are going to find success with animal-based foods, and individuals are going to find success with plant-based foods.
