“In high school I thought I was happy but I never could have imagined how much better my life would turn out. And the secret to why it got so great is really simple- it’s because I made it that way. I went to college and I sought after good times. I didn’t sit in my bed expecting amazing things to happen to me. I went to parties, I met new people, I took chances, I went on walks, I drank the punch at the frat parties. And of course I had some bad nights but I don’t regret any of it because even out of the bad nights I got stories and lessons and friends. What it comes down to is your life really is what you make it, so do everything you can to make it a good one.”

Move Together
Part VI: Forward Spin
“Hey, hey.” It took Harry a few tries before he successfully captured her attention. “What’s going on inside that pretty head of yours? Because judging by the way your eyes keep darting around and the manic way you were skipping rope a few minutes ago, it’s an absolute whirlwind inside there.”
Taryn was angry that he could see past the facade. She didn’t want him catching her nerves. The only thing worse than one anxious skater was two.
“I’m fine,” she said, and would have gone back to skipping rope if Harry didn’t grab hold of her hands.
“Don’t you think I know you better than that, T-Bone?” His hands were still holding hers, and he gave them a slight squeeze before he continued speaking. “You might have been able to fool me at Worlds, and definitely before that, but please don’t insult us by trying now.”

Quote
You cannot convince people to love you. This is an absolute rule. No one will ever give you love because you want him or her to give it. Real love moves freely in both directions. Don’t waste your time on anything else. Most things will be okay eventually, but not everything will be. Sometimes you’ll put up a good fight and lose. Sometimes you’ll hold on really hard and realize there is no choice but to let go. Acceptance is a small, quiet room.... The useless days will add up to something. The shitty waitressing jobs. The hours writing in your journal. The long meandering walks. The hours reading poetry and story collections and novels and dead people’s diaries and wondering about sex and God and whether you should shave under your arms or not. These things are your becoming. One Christmas at the very beginning of your twenties when your mother gives you a warm coat that she saved for months to buy, don’t look at her skeptically after she tells you she thought the coat was perfect for you. Don’t hold it up and say it’s longer than you like your coats to be and too puffy and possibly even too warm. Your mother will be dead by spring. That coat will be the last gift she gave you. You will regret the small thing you didn’t say for the rest of your life.

“Never discredit your gut instinct. You are not paranoid. Your body can pick up on bad vibrations. If something deep inside of you says something is not right about a person or situation, trust it.”
