His head was very painful and he felt weak. He tried to open his eyes and was barely able to. He groaned. Everything was painful. He blinked because of the light and it cost some time to remember what happened. Finally, he slowly moved his head and looked at Mr Freeze: ".. da... ?" he weakly whispered.
♠ (i am horrible sorry)
He was about ready to take the kid to a hospital, until he heard Koonak shift a bit.  Victor approaches the boy and kneels down, “Koonak?” His voice is soft, but, boy, does he look worried about this kid.  Koonak is pratically his son, he can’t lose someone so important.

“Oh, it sounds cool. Especially horror stories, do you love Stephen King ?” he asked.
“Uh, no sir, sorry.” said the boy with a tiny embarrassment. The adult seemed quite grumpy, but if he did not want to speak, he would not answer him. “But I can carry some of your books, I’m very strong.”

He smiled at Barbara and nodding while saying with an impatient voice: “It seems cool! Mab seems to be great! Spooky but great! ”
He didn't see the parallel between Merlin, Mab, and his own story with Victor, mostly because Victor did not seem to control him so much. Even if Koonak agreed he has went too far with Barbara, despite his love toward him. He missed him everyday and he sometimes wished the submarine had not wounded Nora by crushing their home. Everything collapsed at this moment.
“Okay, so go watching this movie!” he exclaimed with a joyful voice, his black eyes filled with excitement and pleasure. He was happy to be with Barbara, because she was so awesome and like the perfect girl ever.
But Victor was also the coolest father figure he could have had and he lost him, anyways. Koonak hoped, prayed,  it would be different for Barbara, everyday of his life.

Koonak loved books. He loved story, learning and improving his English without having mean mockeries about his skills, sometimes they added racist slurs because they thought it was funnier. Nevertheless, he did not have so much money, so, he had been glad to hear about the book giveaway. Obviously, there were many people and he did pay attention to his walking. He learned to be discreet, mostly because he wanted to be alone when he went outside at night for searching Victor and he knew Gotham was dangerous. Therefore, he looked at every person here, even if all he wanted was some books actually. Then, he saw a weird person wrapped in a brow and black plaid flannel shirt and messy hair with so much books that some could fall at some point. The last time Koonak carried many books; he almost fell on the staircase. In addition, the person did not seem so much agile either.
Koonak approached from the man, maybe a teacher, and asked,
“You chose so many books sir, what their subjects are? Can I help?”
Some teachers were nice enough to give money after he had helped them. Moreover, Koonak loved to be useful and nice.
Library
Of course Crane has heard about the book giveaway at the library. Why would he not want to go? Though, there was suspicions that this could be a trap, which is why Dr. Crane actually showed up in casual clothes: dark jeans, grey t-shirt, with a brow and black plaid flannel shirt over it. With that, his messy hair, and wearing contact lenses rather than glasses, there is a rare chance that someone might actually recognize him.
It doesn’t take too long for him to gather up nearly twice his weight in books. This haul is becoming quite difficult to carry, perhaps he should have brought a bag. Maybe if he made two trips? No, someone else could take a book he wants to read. His internal conflict results in a very conflicted and awkward looking Dr. Crane. Hopefully, no one is staring.

for my followers
Sorry to be so late, I don’t forget you, but actually my life sucks, I am busy and I deal with both anxiety and depression. I am afraid to play because I can see problems about my portrayal of Koonak even if he is still my little baby. And I would love playing, but I am afraid to do because I feel I am shit and that I don’t deserve you... that’s very stressfull and don’t help me, sorry.

“Merlin was many things. He was a wizard with great power, but he did some really naughty things. Made a woman think the King was her husband when he wasn’t. He was actually the guy who’d killed her husband. And when the woman had a baby, he raised the child intending to create the sort of noble king that the realm needed.”
“The kingdom had been in disarray for generations. Dirty, nasty guys fighting constantly. Merlin knew that the baby would be very important, and if raised right, he could drag the country out of the dark ages,” Barbara explained. “So he raised him. Trained him in philosophy and morality. That baby became the famous King Arthur, and he created Camelot.”
From what Batman had told her, Merlin was long gone. She wasn’t entirely sure why the demon Etrigan had been summoned in the first place. He was, in this little-known tale of the Arthurian Court, bonded to a treacherous knight who’d fallen in love with Morgaine le Fay who sought to have her son by Arthur placed on the throne.
“But Arthur, despite his great honor was not a perfect man. He had human failings and tried to make up for them by being a great king. It might’ve worked if he wasn’t betrayed. The man who betrayed him was punished by Merlin. Bonded forever to the demon, he still walks the earth doing penance for bringing the final fall of Camelot.” Smiling at Koonak, she asked, “Do you want to see that movie? I think I have the DVD set somewhere, but it’s way long. It doesn’t do the demon story but it does tell Merlin’s story. And I think you’ll find Queen Mab just as interesting as the Gods and Goddesses of ancient times.”
Merlin was both terrible and awesome, according to Barbara. However, he seemed quite creepy and heartless. As an adoptive son of Mr Freeze, Koonak was aware of how much people would be immoral with good intention and how much they would be able to sacrifice everything in order to achieve their goals. Nevertheless, he frowned and growled, because what Merlin did was nasty, it sounded more like the actions of a villain than the actions of a hero. Maybe it was because of his face that Barbara explained Merlin’s plan and so Koonak admitted, reluctantly.
“He had reasons, yes... but I don’t like his methods.” He said with a grumpy voice. Victor was less creepy and he was more desperate, Victor was nice. If Merlin was so powerful, he should have been able to find another way to do what he wanted to do. Then, the boy added with a curious tone: “What happened to Arthur?” Arthur was an orphan, in a way, like himself, raised by an ambiguous and powerful person, fated to be the great king his people needed. Arthur represented pretty much everything Koonak was not, but also a part of what he was. Did he see his mother or did he grow up without her by his side?Koonak missed his mother almost as much as he missed Victor, or the other way around. Think about another thing, idiot, he thought for himself, so he focused on the fate of the failed knight, the one who betrayed everyone. A bad guy, for real.
He thought he was himself stupid to think the knight could be Batman if he was real. The boy had heard so many rumours about him, according to some stories Batman was a vampire or a damned soul reclaiming vengeance or a demon seeking redemption. For the little time where he saw him, Batman seemed... he was awesome... and as normal as a man dressed in a bat suit for fighting crime could be. Quite spooky. To be honest, he had not focused on Batman because of he has thought about Victor throughout the flight. Now, he regretted a bit.
“Of course, it could be cool.” He said with a smile on his lips. “But who is the Queen Mab?"

Dear Mrs Fries,
I have heard about you since the first day I met Victor. He said how much you are a beautiful and nice person and how he will always love you. Since this moment, I wondered if you would like me. I never wondered if I would like you.
He was right. You are really a beautiful and fantastic woman and I love to be with you. I promise I will talk you if I have problems. I also hope I will be a good son for you.
I love you very much.
Koonak
Dear son
Dear Koonak,
There aren’t enough words in the world to let you know how much I truly love you. I know that we’ve only been truly together for only a short while, but I do mean it. And please, if anyone or anything bothers you, talk about it to me, darling. There is nothing worse in the world than suffering alone because you feel you can’t tell anyone.
Love,
Nora.

She knew of a couple. Moulin Rouge was effectively a variation on the story of Orpheus, but she really didn’t think it would be a good idea to get into the concept of prostitution with Koonak, so newly introduced to urban culture. "Well, if you like the Greek, there’s a version of Troy that starred Brad Pitt a few years ago but it’s not a modernization and there’s really no interference by the Gods. It tries to be somewhat historically accurate. There’s also a movie that was on TV a while back about Jason and the Argonauts. And if you don’t mind going a little bit further outside of the myth, proper, to see a movie about Alexander the Great, the young general who sought to conquer the world, then I have a movie about him too. And outside of the Greek pantheon, there are other mythology films I think you’d like. Merlin, for example. I’m guessing you’ve heard of Merlin, right?" she asked.
Bruce had told her recently that a friend of his had actually served in Camelot only to betray it, but Barbara wasn’t sure she believed it. After all, who could believe that Merlin was a real magician who could seal a monster into the same body as a human man and make him immortal? It all sounded so silly. All the same, Koonak was young enough that she thought it important to keep to the magic of possibility."
Did you know that Merlin was real?" she followed. "He was. He conjured a great demon from the pits of Hell and sealed him into the body of a fallen knight from Camelot. That man wanders the world still trying to repay the debt of his betrayal."
He nodded at Barbara’s answer. He didn't know if he really wanted to see a movie without Gods, despite their omnipresence throughout the original story, it seemed weird. The other examples pleased him more, especially Jason and the Argonauts.
“I don’t know Alexander the Great, but it sounds cool.” He stated, before thinking about Merlin. “He’s... a wizard, like Gandalf without hobbit, isn’t?” He had read something about him, a long time ago, but he didn't know what exactly. It was an old book that he didn't finish.
Something about a young boy who should become king one day and so, a strange mentor arrived in his life and put him into various and often dangerous adventures. He liked the book a lot, mostly because it was fun, but also, because it was a birthday gift. And he has lost it. “He was a mentor, am I wrong?’ Then, he looked at Barbara with surprise in his black eyes. “Real, Merlin?” he repeated without thinking it was silly.
“What did the man exactly? Because it sounds tough! And Merlin, is he alive again?” he asked quickly. “And if Merlin is dead, does it mean that the man will always be immortal? And why did Merlin conjure a demon? I thought Merlin was a nice guy!”
Then, he stopped and remained silent for a moment. “Or maybe the man was really bad and deserved it...” he said aloud. Suddenly, he asked. “Is it possible that the man becomes Batman? I mean, in stories, when a man has a redemption quest, he must to do fantastic and dangerous exploits in order to help people!
Anyways, it would explain why Batman is so scary and so awesome.” He exclaimed then he followed. “But no why he is in America or so recent compared to the Middle Age. Maybe the man is a mentor to Batman... like Merlin?”

The retelling was certainly derivative, but it suited Barbara’s love of smart comedy even if it did play on the worst stereotypes of the South. Still, the world of Odysseus seemed to transfer remarkably well to the American South, though instead of a king he was now a prisoner escaped from a chain gang. They watched the adventures of the unfortunate trio. Pete’s eventual capture by the sirens. The squashing of the “Pete” frog by the cyclopine bible salesman. Pete’s warning whispered in the movie theater in town. And finally, revelation of their collective presence in disguise on a night that caused Mr. Waldrip to lose his status as bona fide. Barbara laughed at the sight of those Soggy Bottom Boys appearing at the rally in town. The night that Everett won back his lady. Suddenly, though, the story took a dark turn. The boys were presented with three graves and a noose from which to hang Tommy Johnson. They were all bound for Hell and points beyond. She wondered if having the boy watch this movie was a good idea after all. "You okay over there?" she asked, concerned that he might be upset by the scene before him. Things would soon take a turn for the ridiculous, but that didn’t mean this scene was any less difficult to watch.
He had laughed throughout the movie, even if some things disturbed him or sounded weird. Koonak liked the three characters and also Johnson. He didn’t know American History or the South. However, it didn’t stop him to appreciate the travel and the good misadventure. Koonak enjoyed pointing the mythological reference as well like the Cyclops and the sirens. He was actually surprised by the depiction of Mme Everett and her now girls and not a son. The boy was glad about Peter’s survival (and felt stupid because he thought he was really a fog). He loved the movie’s moment with his warning and he thought the way they saved Tommy Johnson was epic. However, he has never heard about the Klu Klux Klan so he must ask about it to Barbara.
And then, the movie was almost finished, with a near executed character and finally the three graves and the noose. Koonak swallowed, because he had actually never thought they will end the movie with a sad note. His body was now far away to be relaxed. He didn’t like sad and bitter ending.
Nevertheless, he strongly disliked to be childish. “Yes, it’s okay.” He said, trying to be calm. “It’s only a movie.” He didn’t want to worry Barbara; even if he must look four characters die. Fortunately, it didn’t happen and he became happy with the ending. “It was good. Thanks you!” he said with a smile on his lips. “I liked everything. Do you know another retelling of mythology?”

He hugged her back, strongly because it was great, because he felt comfortable and he has not been hugged for many times, after the accident. Hugging one adult at the orphanage could be awkward and Koonak didn't feel closer to anybody here. Hugging Nora was good, it felt like home. “I love you too, mom.” He said without thinking. Sometimes, he called plejemor, sometimes, mom. He couldn’t help, these words came out so quickly of his mouth.
Can I hug you ?
"Of course, dear."
And with that, she spread her arms out to receive him, tightly holding him close to her when she felt his arms around him and gently kissed the top of his head in affection.
"I love you, Koonak."

He understood Victor’s explanation, even if something sounded weird. If someone with an engineered plague came, how a simple vaccine should help him? Or he was so tired to be enough intelligent for understand. The boy nodded at Victor’s order. “Sir, yes sir.” Then he asked with a weak and sleepy voice: “Can I sleep here? I don’t like to be alone and I will be here when I will feel better. Also, I will sleep on the corner, so I won’t disturb you.”
"Are you sure that was supposed to make me feel better?"

derelictsoldier said: "Personally, I prefer the use fbatons. Much more effective. Baseball bats are just. Too wide. You gotta be precise for real damage."
"Precise..." the boy said while thinking. "And if I don't want to be... deathly? What should I choose, baseball bat or batons? I want to defend people, to fight against bad people, no killing them."
