A Reflection on My Creative Journey

It’s been 13 years since I began the Spaicy Project in 2012. What started as a personal passion—something I created just for myself—has grown into a universe that has resonated with many of you. I’m deeply grateful for the support and love you’ve shown me along the way. However, I want to share how this project has evolved, alongside my own priorities and vision as a creator.

When I started, I dreamed of turning Spaicy into a major franchise, something like a professional manga. Over time, I realized that a project of that scale requires a team and resources that, for now, don’t align with my current reality. I’ve learned that it’s not about doing everything alone, but about finding a sustainable balance that allows me to keep creating without sacrificing my well-being.

My life has changed a lot since those days when I spent hours drawing at 22. Today, I deeply value my world beyond the internet—my partner, my friends, my family, and the peaceful moments that recharge me. I’ve learned that my creativity flourishes when I embrace projects that excite me without draining me, and that has led me to rethink the direction of Spaicy.

This process has come with challenges too. Like any long-term project, there were moments of doubt and valuable lessons. One of those lessons was realizing that by accepting too many outside opinions on the narrative, the story stopped feeling entirely mine. That’s why I decided to reboot the project: to recapture the essence of what I always wanted to tell. Now, with more experience and a clearer vision, I’m ready to bring this story to a close in a way that respects both my personal life and creative passion.

🔹A new possible format for Spaicy Comic

My new approach is to transform Spaicy into a hybrid story—part light novel, part illustrated comic. This will allow me to draw the key scenes I’m passionate about, while denser parts—such as training arcs, long dialogues, or worldbuilding—will be told through text, supported by colored comic pages and even animations if the future allows. This format is not only viable, but it also gives me the freedom to tell the full story without leaving it unfinished, all while keeping Spaicy’s spirit alive.

I know this change may come as a surprise to some, but I truly believe it’s the best way to honor both the story and my well-being. I’ve also discovered that I really enjoy creating lighter, self-contained content like illustrations and short animations that I can share with you without the pressure of a massive project. In this fast-paced content era, I’ve noticed that what resonates most with people isn’t always the most complex—and that has inspired me to explore new ways to create.

Spaicy Project is still a vital part of who I am, but I’m no longer the same person who started it. Today, with a more mature perspective, I’m excited to bring this story to its conclusion on my own terms—balancing my passion with my well-being. If you’re starting your own creative project, my advice is this: start with something small, manageable, and joyful. Don’t put your entire identity into one single work—your worth as a creator goes far beyond that.
