amusement park. our muses go to an amusement park, where they can relax on a log ride or risk it all with a daring ride. (doesn't have to be for steve, pick any of my muses across all my blogs!)
Wanda rests her head against Steve's shoulder and lets out a content sigh. Opting for a slower ride as a way to end their day, she was appreciative of spending the day out with her friend ā even if the different sights and sounds was something she wasn't used to.
Being an experiment at Hawkins Lab didn't allow for first time experiences like this; and so, being initially overwhelmed by it all would be an understatement. So many rides to go on and games to play and food to eat. It briefly crossed Wanda's mind that it was fun adventures like this that she missed in her childhood and it made her resent Brenner even more.
For most of the day, Wanda let Steve lead the way; however, as the hours went by, her nerves went away and she suggested a few things she wanted to do ā like go on the current ride they were on. ā Thank you, ā she says, clutching the Woody Woodpecker stuffed animal against her - a souvenir that Steve valiantly won for her at a game she was almost certain was rigged. ā For today. I didn't understand the appeal at first, but I think I get it now. Maybe we can come back sometime? ā

Wanda lets out an apprehensive sigh, unsure of exactly how she felt about going on the ride Ethan chose ā the most adventurous one in the whole amusement park, as it turned out. With two different loops and various twists and turns, along with a staggering 61-meter drop at the very top, Wanda's feelings were in a jumble. She was nervous while somehow simultaneously looking forward to it. She squeezes his hand which she hadn't let go of since they got in line. She glances at him, green eyes meeting his, and she allows a small smile.
It was Ethan's adventurous nature that brought out a side to her that made her want to actively try new things that she otherwise probably wouldn't have; and she loved him even more for it. Although, sometimes in the moment, she also hated him for it; such as times like this, inching ever closer to the front of the line. ā If we make it through this ride, you owe me one, ā she informs him. ā I want to go sailing again. ā

"Can I do your makeup?"
Upon hearing her niece's question, Wanda looks at her with a quizzical brow before a genuine smile appears. Was her appearance really that bad? For a moment, the witch couldn't help but wonder. She hadn't looked in a mirror all day, as it were. Or, perhaps Luna simply wanted to spend more valuable time together. It may have been a mix of both, but Wanda believed to a greater degree that it was the latter. ā Yes, of course. You can do my makeup anytime, Luna. I love when you do. ā

She hadn't been able to sleep that night. After spending some time in the company of her books instead of her thoughts, Wanda got out of bed in favor to make her favorite chamomile tea when her green eyes fell upon him, causing her to stop for a moment. She hadn't expected anyone being up at such an hour. Seeing her father awake and seemingly deep in thought, she was initially hesitant to say anything lest she bother him.
Even so, it still hadn't stopped the witch from approaching quietly after a few heartbeats and make her offer. She secretly reveled in those treasured moments of spending time with him, no matter what. Besides, she figured there couldn't be any harm in asking. The worst thing he could do was turn her away ā which she almost thinks is the case when she hears his initial avoidance. It makes her wonder what was on his mind.
However, to her comfort, he agrees and she takes a breath. Wanda returns his smile and complies with his request to sit, her green eyes tired but filled with concern for her father. ā You should be resting, too, Pappa, ā she says gently. ā What's bothering you? ā Could she have used her abilities to explore his mind? Maybe. Was she going to? Absolutely not. She wouldn't dare do that to him, of all people ā or her siblings for that matter. Instead, she tentatively reaches to place her hand atop of his, a small gesture to let him know he could speak his mind freely when he was ready, and she wouldn't go anywhere.

it's always "immortals always lose the ones they love!" and never "this family has had this incredible, powerful, loving figure present through generations of their lineage, all because they are descended from someone the immortal loved long ago" and i think that's a shame!!
